I wasn't racing, but I sailed 40,000 miles in three years around the world singlehanded mostly in the high latitudes both north and south. I spent nearly 4 months total in the southern ocean and it is some of the most demanding sailing on the planet. Racing non-stop is on a whole other level; what an accomplishment.
I can not imagine the courage and fortitude her journey required. What an inspiration!

Little? 😂 it's not little. 50+ feet. Handling a boat like that alone is work... doing it for 130 days non stop is super hero territory... and since it's a custom built carbon fiber racing boat, I'd say it's worth north of a million dollars.

A sailor is set to become the first American woman to sail solo around the world.
Cole Brauer of Boothbay, Maine, set sail more than four months ago for the Global Solo Challenge. The Global Solo Challenge is a solo sail around the world, spanning nearly 30,000 miles.
Brauer launched from Newport, Rhode Island, where she spends a lot of time in the spring and summer, and is expected to arrive in Spain late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
As of 5:30 a.m., an online tracker showed Brauer was less than 200 nautical miles from the finish line and is slated to finish in second place.
She’s the only woman competing and the youngest in the competition at 29-years-old.
Brauer is also aiming to set a world record for her type of boat by completing the race in under 137 days. She’s on target to accomplish that.
The sailor cried. At the end of the day she's still a woman.

Jessica Watsons trip around the globe is not recognized as being complete. Her route fe short of the 21,500 miles necessary to be considered traveling the girth of the Earth. She took short cuts. And it took her 90 days longer to cover 10,000 miles less water. That Netflix movie is full of made up crap.

We are the Americas Cups winners and we’ve had females sailing around the world long before the USA ever did, but yes Americans couldn’t name sailors, and have always been really bad at geography, and thought their native people came from India 🤣

You know pro sailors who race those things have sponsors, right? Like they actually do not own their boat, and they get paid to sail. Like any other pro athlete. So tell your daughter to train and work real hard and maybe she'll be good enough to race pro. How about that?
That is the pros my man, you are not going to get a sponsor while you’re still coming up and training. Obviously you have to work your way up, but people that don’t have access to the capital to even get into the sport in the first place never get the opportunity. You need to pay to train/practice, vessel access, commute, etc.
