@@turnne Oh in mississippi we don't have honor bands like that. the highest honor you can get is sweepstakes (1's in marching, sightreading, concert) i'll do more research on how that honor band system works
@@djreek1942 There is sweepstakes as well in Texas. However at the region level there are several bands selected for area competition. Those bands submit recordings and the state honor band is selected ( and bands ranked) from those recordings. That winning band plays at the Texas Music Educators meeting the following year. If you win state in your class you cannot compete in the next selection process. This is done every other year and alternates based on the size of the school. So you only have the opportunity to win once every 4 years. To my know no band has ever done that consecutively
