I really wanted a Berlin style Coruscant divided between the Empire and Republic in a potential sequel trilogy. A battle in the streets of Coruscant cannot not leave scars or be won by one side alltogether. It's basically infinite urban combat, a nightmare to control for an army, imperial or rebel. It would have been cool to see the scars 30 years later with the two parts of the planets rebuilt in the different Imperial and Republican style. And a nest of spies espionage plot would be more conducive to a small hero team. Instead of Poe and Finn that storm a Star destroyer to free Chewbacca and win for a while.
What would we see? On the ground or in space? Watching different people on different levels of the same giant building would be interesting. Like following fire fighters trying to prevent debris from destroying everything. A squad of clone fighting off landing Droids, protecting a high value Senator like Padme or Bail. A group of criminal trying to pull off a job during the battle. It would be interesting to explore the verticality of the city and how every action has consequences for people up and down.
I was having breakfast this morning, carrying my plate to the table, when I accidentally tilted it a bit and my bread fell off. It was... *The Fall of Croissant*
It has such a huge creative space for it & the films only depicted the rich parts of it sure the clone wars & TOR helped show what the other parts are like but we desperately need a series just based on that planet alone.
I have begun very preliminary work on a project that may one day be what you're looking for, but I have very little done in it and I need other people to be in on this project at some point.
Nitpick on Grievous' raid: he couldn't escape, a light task force from the Home Defense Fleet (including a ship commanded by LORTH NEEDA, of all people) had damaged his ship's thrusters and needed emergency repairs to escape orbit. And Obi-Wan and Anakin arrived well before they could do so.
Regarding the Argument that the Republic could have won the Great Galactic War had they simply continued I say. Yes probably they could have but the End of the War would still be Years away at that Point. The Republic had just managed to slow the Advance of the Sith and were at that Point of the War at best even. To defeat them would have required Years more of further Bloodshed the Republic might just not be willing to invest. Afterall the Republic as a Democracy is beholden to the Will of the People and War Weariness is a big Problem. As I said when the Sith offered to Negotiate the Republic was not winning but had just managed to consolidate after a virtual Blitzkrieg by the Sith. And then Corucant was hit. We see in the Revenge of the Sith Novelisation just how much of an impact an even semi successful Attack on Corucant would have. The Republic Population might not have been willing to prolong fighting after so many losses a hit on Corucant the loss of the Senate and the Supreme Chancellor and so the Republic decided to End the War now allow the Sith their Victory while they would Rebuild and Prepare for a Second War. Not to mention the Jedi were hit pretty hard as well and needed time to replenish their losses.
I guess someone has to want to live on Coruscant. I'd rather go to the legends version of Mandalore - the version where it's still mostly wilderness, there are no pacifist New Mandalorians, and Death Watch is recognized as the criminals and savages they are.
I got my lightsaber when I visited the Jedi temple once. It was weird I found it in under a rock in an area full of blaster holes. But the again the whole temple looked like it was a war zone
I really love these new intros! Some great comments about what is great about the topic of the video. If I could go to any planet from Star Wars, I would also choose Coruscant.
The sacking of Coruscant around *EDIT: 3700 BBY* lead (among others) by Darth Malgus was the most frustrating plot armor/convenience. There is an amazing moment in the Darth Malgus book (Deceived) when Malgus stands there in triumph and waiting for the complete destruction of the Jedi temple from orbit but it doesn't happen. It is so well written. Read the Darth Malgus book. It's really good
Doesn't Thrawn's blockade of Coruscant using cloaked asteroids deserve at least an honourable mention? I mean, he basically caused them to cut *themselves* off from the rest of the Galaxy. That deserves at least points in creativity.
@@GenerationTech He may be hungry and wanted to have some croissant when he was editing the video. So give him some, Alan! If you wanted to eat one too, of course.
So I once heard about a theory that the Yuuzhan-Vong Invasion was averted (in canon) because their army was destroyed- long before the invasion was carried out -by the First Order. This theory was based off of a canon comic about the rise of the First Order, and in it there’s a part where they defeat an army of aliens from another galaxy (possibly the Yuuzhan-Vong). Alan, do you think this theory is correct and if so, what do you think this means knowing that the First Order likely prevented a more gruesome fate for the galaxy?
Coruscant is basically the Afghanistan of the Star Wars universe. The Graveyard of Empires. There is no taming it. The amount of resources you would have to sink into the planet to keep it under control is massive and absolutely not worth the cost unless you were an entity as large as the peak Republic or Empire (and even then...).
If there was an Afghanistan of the galaxy, I'd say it would be Ryloth over Coruscant. Coruscant is much more of a Stalingrad due to the heavy urban environment.
I never understood why the ancient Sith didn't just secretly place hundreds of nukes in the lower levels of Coruscant , and blow up the planet from a safe distance . Boom , bye-bye jedi .
The end of the Clone Wars was a time where Coruscant was almost decimated. Apart from the battle in orbit was the ground battle alone was brutal. However Senator Padme Amidala helped with getting the residents of her building into shelters before she took cover with her staff including C-3PO
Here's an interesting (?) what if scenario. What if Count Duku successfully defeated Palpatine? I feel like he was probably the one in the best position to dismantle his plans. He certainly had the motive and was capable enough. He simply chose the wrong approach I think. After all, despite being a Sith, he was, to some degree, AGAINST the Sith.
croissants are austrian and were created to celebrate the victory over the ottomans at the second attempt to conquer vienna and then europe. their form directly reflects the moon on the ottoman/muslim flags. the froglegrapists have nothing to do with that specific food except playing fancy and creating the illusion of high culture, therefore inspiring the nobles of central europe to speak french to appear sophisticated. the name might be french, but that means nothing at the time since that horrific language was used so widespread.
Here is a potential avenue for you to explore Generation Tech, "Why the New Republic's rotation of the planetary capital is a bad idea". I can provide at least two points to why it would be a bad idea; first of, Coruscant is effectively and literally the center of the galaxy, located at grid coordinates 0. 0. 0. it is a cultural landmark, a military focal point, and not to mention, the most major trade hub in the galaxy, with almost -if not all -major trade routes passing through Coruscant. even in our world, capitals tend to be placed with these elements in mind, serving as the center of individual governments. so the idea that a galactic Government would relocate it's capital, even if it was a decade or two between, makes no sense. sure, it may allow individual planets to feel represented, but it makes no sense to place the capital of the Galactic government on say; Ventooine, or Hypori, both of which are so out of the way, as to not just be a meaningless gesture, but also detrimental to the Republic's ability to govern itself. next is logistics. no matter how you look at it, democracies require a lot of people. America has a hundred people representing fifty states in the Senate. Governing a galaxy, requires significantly more. As you often show, the Galactic Senate of the old Galactic Republic was roughly two thousand individuals. even if the New Republic ended up with less members states, it would likely feature an even greater membership to allow individual systems greater representation in this new senate. so if they relocated their capital on a regular basis -say, once per decade, they would have to build up new facilities on those worlds. they would need a senate building, a Judicial Court, a residential area allocated for the various senators to reside, and (likely) a chamber for the Chancellor, all of which must be large enough to accommodate the thousands of senators that would participate. all of which would likely cost millions of credits, EACH TIME they relocated the capital. Likely this would be resolved through the taxation of individual member states, but that still means that the taxes would have to increase in order to accommodate for the increase in spending for a facility that may be used for a limited time, and might be used only once. moreover, planets with insufficient infrastructure would need a sufficient renovation. upgrading the communication grid, increasing the local law enforcement agencies, setting up a starport that is capable of handling the increase in people traveling to-and-off the planet, and more, which will cost even more resources, and might not be a popular move. as a result, planets that has the facilities available may become prioritized over those planets that do not, creating a discrepancy that will inevitably lead to corruption and friction
Dunno if it’s true or just some fandom, but I read that during a conflict known as “War Of The Ancestors” (There’s not much on this war other than it took place in 10,000 ABY and lasted 2,000 years which is insane) Coruscant was obliterated Alderaan style. If anyone’s got more info on it I’d love to hear as it gives no real explanation as to how Coruscant was destroyed or anything about it. If it actually was a concept developed at some point it sounds extremely incomplete and possibly abandoned but just thought I’d throw it out there.
We all know that Generation Tech answers some good Star Wars questions but one I'm wondering if there is an answer to is what Inquisitor has the most kills cause we all know that your lightsabers were given to you by one cause there's no way you looted General Grievous' body
