    Great info for people to consider. I sent to a late hatch one loft race and the transparency is not there. They put in their updates to call if the bird info needs correction but didn't correct my bird's bands after 2 calls and multiple emails.
    Disappointing. Wish a lot of loft managers would be more transparent and complete what they said they'll do.

      Oh that sounds frustrating!! 😢
      I’ve experienced bad communication with one OLR last year and it is the worst not knowing what’s happening or when things are going to start up. Literally 4-5 months went by without ANY communication from the manager. And now the race no longer exists bc the manager was caught cheating. Hard to be surprised

    Good video with great OLR info.. Congrats James on the nice placing at the BGR. If only that bird would have taxied right in after hitting the runway. That had to be frustrating.. The Martinez Classic will be a fun one.. They'll be taking birds starting Feb 1st. Maybe you could do a vid on how to ship birds to an OLR.. From vaccinating, boxing the birds, shipping info needed and what happens at the PO when you go there to ship them. Also, the best time of day and the best day of the week to do that. A dry run of course. 🙂

    whats wrong with a blue bars wing in your video in the beginng

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  10 месяцев назад +1

      When he was a YB he hit a golf course net and broke his wing. Someone found him and contacted me. I bound up the break but it was right at the juncture of his elbow. When that happens the bones typically fuse in birds as they heal which is what happened to him. He cannot bend that joint anymore but at least he is alive and happy ☺️

      i have perches reserved at several OLR for this season, and i am TRYINg to get the money together to buy a band for a band race- cheaper, but you have to pick the bird early...@@RFRP

  • @Oneloftracing
    @Oneloftracing 10 месяцев назад +1

    I have never been a fan of OLR charging perch fees . I would not consider entering a OLR that does .

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! But without a perch fee how will loft managers pay for feed, grit, vaccinations, vitamins, road training, etc.? And how would loft managers be compensated? This is a business for them. They have to make money too, right?

    • @Oneloftracing
      @Oneloftracing 10 месяцев назад

      @@RFRPThe same way that OLR get paid that do not charge perch fees . The lofts that do not charge perch fees the organisers take a percentage of activation fees . No perch fees the organizer has to be on top of his game or he does not get paid . Perch fees are of no benefit to the participants they benefit the organisers of the race .

    You know the secret to making a small fortune in OLRS. Start with a large fortune!!! 😂😂. That being said I'm doing the black and gold, sooner, Nashville classic 1st year. And gonna try the motor city classic lol!

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  10 месяцев назад +2

      😆 Yes!! That’s what is missing in my equation, the starting large fortune. It is true, though. One should not enter OLRs solely for the pursuit of money. Go to olrstats.com and under breeders you’ll see most people do not come out on top.
      Good luck at those races my friend!! 🙂

    • @ThundercatLoft
      @ThundercatLoft 10 месяцев назад

      @RFRP I thought first drop meant literally dropping.. sometimes at home ill get literally a bunch of birds dropping together..in this situation if my friend called me I would have said yeah I got 15, i got one on the drop and I had to push him in and the rest circled once or twice more... But they didn't push them in they just left called them in. 🙄 oh well . Different from club racing I suppose.
