Hello, with elastic for swimwear used in chlorine pools I have been advised to always use polyester elastic and polyester stretch fabric called Chloroban. I have made swimwear with it and yes, it has never been affected by the chlorine, and we swim a lot. I also sew up bra extenders with elastic between each side of the clips. I use the tough waistband elastic (large bras) and it wears beautifully. Just a tip for other sewists. cheers!!
have you done a video yet showing how to measure the amount of elastic you need to replace worn out elastic in a waist band in a pair of pants? and how to sew it in?
I use non-roll elastic in circle skirts but by the time I get it pulled through the casing with a safety pin, it has rolled. What am I doing wrong and is there a trick to it? And thank you...this video was very informative about the types of elastic and how to use them.
Just be careful when pulling the elastic through the casing, making sure that it is always flat and not twisting. I don't think you are doing anything "wrong"! Sometimes if the casing is too large or too small, it can make the elastic tend to flip as you are pulling it through.
@@Threads thank you. I did go back and carefully look at the casing stitches. I found that I had sewed about a three inch part of it where it was a bit more narrow. I ripped out those stitches and re-sewed that portion. The elastic went through much better and did not roll. 😉

Wonderful explanation! Thank you!
Thank you! Huge help!

As a general rule it is about 2 to three inches less then the waist measurement, depending on how much stretch in the elastic.

Bummer, thought you were going to share how to add the rope elastic into the reg elastic as pictured in thumb nail 🙄
