  • I purchased a NEW 4x4 Rig this week! 2023 Winnebago Adventure Wagon Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500 4x4. 🚐💨
2023 DREAM ACHIEVED. This VAN is PERSEVERANCE & THE LONG ROAD.
A lot of people may think this happened OVERNIGHT. It DIDN’T.
Despite people counting me out, I’ve been committed to the long-term:
My early years were not ideal.
Left England in middle of the night at 8 years old. My deaf mother (American), younger sister & I escaped to a battered women’s shelter in the UK before escaping to USA in 1995.
My father (British) is a violent alcoholic. Despite not growing up with a father in England, the USA called. 🇺🇸
Arrived in Colorado with nothing. A FRESH START.
Despite meager circumstances, my single mom raised us. We bootstrapped & figured it out.
Hockey taught me: Hard work. Teamwork. Perseverance. Patience. Work Ethic. Communication. Dedication. Goal-Setting. Sacrifice.
In 2001, we packed our shit & relocated to Colorado Springs. Culture shock - Small mountain town to big urban sprawl.
    Worked 2 jobs through college.
Graduated DU in 2009 & joined workforce during worst financial crisis in US history.
Joined commercial real estate firm & worked for FREE, cold-calling apartment owners.
Started my own business in 2012, Blue Line Sports Management, a hockey agency to mentor young players. Hockey is my PASSION.
Became an analyst at a multifamily investment group specializing in managing apartments.
Became an Asset Manager overseeing a portfolio of 11 apartment properties/employees. LEARNED.
Worked real estate job, WHILE bootstrapping my boutique hockey business. FULL-TIME, Non-stop & highly competitive.
After 5 years in multifamily, I pivoted to my hockey business full-time. ALL-IN.
Operated Blue Line Sports Management for 12 years. Helped players secure NCAA degrees (full credit to the players)!
    👆
This ENTIRE journey = TODAY. Countless lessons learned. TRUST GUT instincts. You CAN make a career out of your PASSION.
Became financially independent. Good fortune & OPPORTUNITY.
THIS VAN represents STRUGGLES & life’s JOURNEY. Sleepless nights + SWEAT EQUITY. Nothing comes easy. SACRIFICE & HARD WORK. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT!
From the DIRT to the CLOUDS.
I am PROUD of MYSELF, my FAMILY, my STRUGGLE, my JOURNEY, my UPBRINGING & MY SHORT-TERM SACRIFICES. These equal LONG-TERM GAINS.
PLAY THE LONG GAME. Take the LONG ROAD!
Call me a grateful Capitalist. I am proud of this country & what it stands for: OPPORTUNITY & FREEDOM. 🇺🇸
This VAN is 37 years of GRINDING OUT THERE IN THEM STREETS.
This VAN is the AMERICAN DREAM and my American Dream. I will NEVER take that for granted.
    🚐 🇺🇸
    - - - - - - - - - - - -
This rig will allow me the flexibility to travel with my GF and 2 Dogs while documenting my travels and my off-grid lifestyle. I am extremely excited for the content this will allow me for my Channel, in combination with my off-grid mountain property in Colorado.
    2023 WINNEBAGO ADVENTURE WAGON
MERCEDES BENZ 2500 4x4 SPRINTER VAN
    PEBBLE GREY COLOR (TAN)
    CLASS B - High Roof
    19 Ft., 4 Inch Length - 144" Chassis
Turbo Diesel 3.0L 6 Cylinder Engine
Low & High Range 4x4 Capability
This Mercedes Benz chassis is a 2022, which was the LAST year that Mercedes made a 4 wheel drive 4x4 sprinter with the V6 engine and a low and high-range 4 wheel drive capability. Mercedes has since replaced all Sprinter Vans with a new All-Wheel Drive (AWD), 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine for all models 2023 and newer....I really wanted (and preferred) the older, tried-and-true V6 engine platform with the 4x4 ability.
The Winnebago Adventure Wagon Buildout is a newer 2023 model that will allow me to live and travel off-grid without having to winterize anything. This model RV/Van is a class B van that is RVIA certified, but it does not have sewer or water hookups, no gray water tanks or plumbing, and no traditional running water.
    STAY TUNED!
"UNTIL NEXT TIME, I'LL CONTINUE BROADCASTING FROM WAY OUT THERE."

Fellow (recent) AW buyer! Are you using the front window shades that came with it? If so, how did you get them to stay up? I’ve seen online that many people ended up swapping these out with something else. Also if you need a sheet to protect the MOAB, Hest makes one! (Look for the S75 custom on their page). Also found a few good tire well solutions too!

Awesome! Congrats on your van! Yes, I have been using the front windshield screen/shade on hot days and to protect the dash from the sun mostly. Haven’t used it much as a privacy screen yet really. It seems kind of bulky for sure but seems to stay up with both the visors down over it. Not the biggest fan of the Velcro portion in the middle that slips over the rear view mirror in center of windshield….Always seems like it isn’t quite a perfect fit and not a full “blackout” shade. I think I’m going to stick with it for now, unless I find something better quality. I will have to check out the Hest sheets you mentioned. I’ve been using a regular king size sheet that I shrunk a bit in the dryer and seems to work fine when you tuck the excess under the mattress. Definitely not ideal though. I found some solid black tire well covers (rubber molds to size) that are a perfect fit for the inside of the wheel wells and protect the paint - They are from TerraWagon. I also got the front plastic hood spoiler (black) from TerraWagon & I’m VERY happy with that - Protects front hood edge from paint chips and gives it a more aggressive look on front end. Goes on/applies easy with 2 - 3M tape strips. Happy adventuring to you! 🚐 💨

You going to add an awning or roof rack? That's prob going to be my first upgrade.

      @RobinsonReconnaissance  18 дней назад

@@swoolf1431 excellent! YES, I concur. Roof rack is a must, plus want to get some sort of storage box setup for the back doors, along with a bike rack. Awning on my list too, plus mayb 2 Baja lights up front in the grill! The roof rack will be a good platform for some solar panels maybe? So many possibilities! Lol

You mentioned you will get a heater/AC that comes with the van, is that a standard future for both 144 and 170 van? I checked the 170 that does not have it.

Hello from middle America! I purchased the Winnebago AW about the same time you did. Congrats. So I have some questions. What do you think about running the fan, lights, etc off the chassis battery? I am looking for a solution to run off the Ecoflow and totally disconnect from the starter battery. I would hate to get stranded? What are your thoughts?

    • @RobinsonReconnaissance

Congrats on your Winnebago as well! I haven’t had any issues yet running the Maxx fan, lights and everything else off the chassis battery. I did get 3 or 4 GoalZero torch lights that I use as my primary lighting source in the Mule Bag nets. These are solar rechargeable lights, so a good lighting solution that does not pull from the battery. I also purchased a NOCO boost jump starter that I keep in the van just in case of emergency or if I get stranded when I’m offgrid. I trust the current setup off chassis battery.

@@luidabruin Build one out yourself & you can put in way better Insulation than the less than good Winnebago crap. You will be happy u did. Get Havelock wool as that is what I am using & It is great stuff -- Have you ever been in a storyteller Van & then a Revel... the diff is crazy in quality from storyteller . Its your money but I would buy the van and use better components unless you are ok with this. anyway best of luck.

I use a 30-ft vinyl-coated steel tie out cable for my dogs. I never attach the leash to the vehicle. Thanks Herb.
