I wish I could ask her a question. I feel I need better education on this. To my understanding the Valdivia earthquake was felt 350 miles away (this may be inaccurate) but this 7.1 was felt in Phoenix. If this 7.1 is ten times stronger than the 6.4. How could it be felt even close to the distance as Valdivia which was 9.5?
Melinda Schaming The 1960 9.5 Valdivia Earthquake was 251 times bigger than today’s 7.1 Ridgecrest Earthquake, but was the amount of energy released from the Valdivia earthquake was 3,981 times stronger than the 7.1. Some reports concerning the Valdivia earthquake state that extremely heavy tremors were felt and recorded as far away as Boston, San Francisco, Washington, Alaska, and even Tokyo.
When it comes to the reason why Earthquakes are felt at different distances all has to deal with the type of soil between the epicenter and where you are.
OK! The truth is, Daniel Rodriguez, I'm not a liar, trust me. California is suffering by the earthquake. All these people in California is in danger, that's why I'm going to save California and that's final! I'm very offended by it. So be it!
