Thank u for the tutorial.I need to find out if I have to do a rectangular place mat 10"×15" how long should the skeleton chan should be.would be much thankful for an answer even if its not 100% accurate.i mean a rough idea would be most welcome.
Hi Renuka, it would be best to do a gauge swatch for this. You can use this sample as a way to measure in general how high each round is and multiple that number by 2. Then you'll know with each round that your measurement will increase by that amount for your length and your width. From there you should be able to take your desired measurement and divide it by that number so you'll know how many shells to start with and how many rounds you'll need. This will definitely be something I will do a Crochet Quick Chat on. Hope that helps! 👍
Hi Shirley, You can turn your work if you wish but on both squares and rectangles you are technically working in the round so you could just continue working on the same side if you wanted to for both motifs. Hope that makes sense? Have fun with your rectangles! -Karen
When I do larger coasters using granny rectangular it tends to shrink in the middle like a bone.what is the remedy for this.would be thankful for ur advise.
Hi Donna, Someone asked me a similar question in my solid granny rectangle tutorial and here's my advice: You would have to create a gauge swatch to determine how much your project increases with every round. This means you'd have to experiment. For example start of by chaining 15 and create your first two rounds and take the measurements of that rectangle. This way you can see how much each side will grow every time you create 2 rounds. Some people do it by crocheting 4 rounds but it's up to you. Then you can decided if you want to start with 15 chains or 30 or 45 etc. If you don't like the rate of increase in size then you could start your swatch with 9 chains and do the same thing. Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions on this. Good luck!
@@marionolive6056 HI Marion, Into each corner you will place 3 Double Crochets, chain 2 and 3 Double Crochets into the corner chain spaces. Hope this helps. Please do let me know if you need further explanations. I am happy to help!
Hi, I have crocheted for most of my life but I have not done granny stitch before! I am trying to make a rectangle granny stitch blanket. I have done the foundation and have attached my slip stitch at the top of my first cluster. Now I'm lost, I don't know what to do now, I don't want to change colors yet. Can you please help me?
Hi! No need to change colours of you don't want to. What you can do is slip stitch into the next two stitches until you get to the next space between the clusters. From there chain three and create your first cluster of the next row in that space. (You would DC two more times into that space) Then continue on as usual. Hope that makes sense? Don't hesitate to get in touch if you get suck again. Good luck!
Hi Judy! I think this video will be helpful for you as I used these rectangles to create a baby blanket. I go through how I joined them altogether. Hope it helps. 👍 ruclips.net/video/Jcq-gGNYIfY/видео.html
I always seem to end up with one too many stitches at the other end when I work down the row. When you say "chain 18" are you counting the stitch on your hook (the completed slip stitch) as one stitch? I have been chaining 18 after my slip stitch - is this where I am going wrong? EDITED - I think I've been going into the third stitch from the hook instead of the fourth stitch when starting the first shell! Just tried it again and it worked.
Aha! Glad you were able top figure it out. I was going to ask you to send me a picture of what you had. Good stuff! Let me know if there's anything else that comes up. Enjoy!

Hi there! It's hard to say as it depends on how large or small you'd like to make it. Perhaps start with 36 chains which is double the numebr of chains I used in the tutorial and then work your way up as you like to see where you'd like your size to stop. Hope that makes sense.
