He's a professional and educated radio dude, that's what he did, that was his job, and Ant just happened to be an extremely funny guy off the street and Jimmy a stand-up who Opie brought in. With that said, never been a fan of Opie, but the more I thought about it over the years and listened to old shows, the more I realized I felt sorry for him.
raspberrysyrup Dude, listen the NOpie shows in 2010-2014. This ship steerer shit was totally 100% debunked by those. The shows flowed amazingly and the mood in the studio would be euphoric by the end of the day.
Sean Costello And *you* must not have listened to the infamous “Nopie” shows (I.e. O&A shows on days when Opie was absent). Those shows were beloved almost universally because they were absolutely hilarious and flowed brilliantly, proving Opie’s utter worthlessness and lack of contribution, as his mere absence elevated the overall quality of the show to a level that simply wouldn’t be possible had he shown up.
@@TriStar44 Exactly. Just because Anthony and Jims shows aren't amazing without Opie doesn't = Anthony and Jim need Opie to have a good show. They just need to both be on the same show.
Funny how they all hate on Opie but neither Jim nor Anthony could ever recreate the same O&A magic on their own shows - I still rather rewatch classic O&A shows.
I think thats not the point, they can never recreate the magic of the old O&A show thats why they created their own separate show with a different vibe, not the shadow of its former self. Opie radio, Jim and Sam and Anthony cumia show wasnt trying to be O & A all over again.
HAHAHA are you implying people listened to o and a for opie ?? .. the o and a show was great cause of Patrice, Jimmy, and Anthony . Period , don't only was opie not needed but he would constantly interrupt people in the middle of there storys and would make fun of any and everyone except himself
Either way Opie was the one who tanked a great thing because he wasn’t getting enough personal attention from Ant. Like an upset girlfriend complaining that they didn’t talk or connect like they used to.
You're full of it. I'm subscribed to Compound Media. Dave Landau and Anthony together blows away anything Opie could contribute. Funnier than they EVER have been and THEY HOLD NOTHING BACK.
I can speak to this a tad... I too have that somewhat-feminine quality of wanting to connect, and being passive-aggressive when it didn't work. Greg just wanted what others had, but didn't know how to get it, because that was not his role. And, so, the frustration comes in, and we are afraid to be honest about it, because men aren't supposed to do that. I'm not excusing. I'm just saying I understand that. It creates problems, but so does our type of personality.
Difference between envy and jealousy. Opie had everything he ever wanted and was still miserable. The perfect example of why money doesn't buy happiness
All this gossiping about Opie is a giant turn off. Somethings not right about it makes me not like any of these guys. holy shit and Anthony is one of my favorite celebrity type person thing
Kenny BeQuiet Gossip? They're talking about someone they knew intimately for over 2 decades. And now they can finally do it collectively and freely. I don't blame them one bit.
Gossiping hu? Sounds like you're just tired of hearing it and now you're calling it that. Facts are facts and we can discuss things without "gossiping".
I like these guys, but the group sewing circle-type bitching about Opie gets a little stale. Sort of sounding like a high school clique trashing a former member no longer considered cool. There was a chemistry and dynamic about Opie and Anthony and Jimmy, it was a great show. I'd still love to see a rapprochement in the future, all of them together again.
You clearly don't understand or haven't listened to O&A very long. Opie added NOTHING. The show without Jim or Anthony would be non-existent. Opie and Jimmy was an utter dog shit radio show. If everybody Opie works with ends up disliking him, he truly is an autistic jackass.
They’re definitely not doing a show together ever but I see what you’re saying it’s like they had made millions together had a great show so that’s something that should be respected and something obviously worked. Like someone constantly bashing an ex. There had to be something good that you stuck with them. Also, how long ago was this? If this was recent then they really need to stop. The shows been over for what 3 years? Let go! We get it Opie is an unfunny hack.
Only thing that’s missing is someone like Stern to do the heavy lifting and let these guys be the comedy guys. Anthony, Artie and Jimmy with a lead like Stern would have been amazing. Too bad Stern hates all of them.
BAB PEEG It's that fact that he made people so uncomfortable and took the funny out of a lot of situations. He always wanted to be #1, he couldn't just sit back and conduct.
Exactly. Opie definitely comes across as an asshole when, like these guys said, he gets defensive for no reason but inherently he was the educated radio professional whose job was to get things moving, do the structured radio thing as far as cutting to break or whatever, and way too many people interpreted it as him killing the funny in the room. You can say he did but at the end of the day, it's a radio show, not a podcast, and with radio you have to structure shit and have one guy in charge of exactly like BAB PEEG said: steering the boat.
He did a pretty awful job at "steering the ship" though, the number of times he interrupted great conversations with moronic callers or snooze-inducing news stories was just ridiculous.
Cuz these guys had it made , imagine your job is sitting and hanging out laughing your ass off with your friends . Greggshells is nothing woitout them, he’s a bore . Just listen to his new podcast
If I stand around while 2 guys create something great am I one third of its creation? No, I was just there. Opie did nothing more then some board operation and forcing calls
listen I hated Opie the second I heard the show back in the day,but to bash him is kinda wrong bn he gave Anthony his start/career in radio and same with Jimmy!
I have just done THE..... MOST..... AMAZING.....FART.....!!!! Sorry, but it really was like a 19thC. steamtrain crossed with a rumble-strip car crash. And I HAD to tell someone....
Not trying to be a dick for real. But I have listened to O&A clips and I have never been impressed. Can someone send me a link to what is supposed to be so great?
Norton is the only one with talent. Unless you call defying the odds of death by O.D. talent then add Artie. I find Opie funny but I totally agree, his inability to get busted on by friends is just sad.
This subject again? This feels like that guy who's been needing a divorce for decade. Then it finally happened... but five years later he still won't shut the hell up about it.
Howard and Opie have the biggest queue of well-wishers I've ever seen. Anthony is wasting his amazing talent. He should already have a party, an emblem, and a secret police already set up in America. Jim Norton is proof that if Yucko the Clown would have kept going, he would have been huge. Artie is still the man. He's my heroin. I mean hero! You guys have got to get some new material. Poor Bill Burr is on a podcast talking to himself. But I guess that's better than Opie talking to the waves break on the beach.
Do they not get sick of ripping on a former colleague of theirs? If I remember correctly Opie was the one that brought Anthony on the show from his original construction type job he was doing. He also didn't claim to be comedically brilliant like Jim or Anthony so thats why he was always a bit on edge when being roasted cos he knew he had no comebacks on that level. I would have been very onesided every time. I don't get why so many people are dicks to the guy, imagine if you were in his shoes, you think you'd roll with the punches every single time? maybe, but are you comedically brilliant? probably not. I already know I'll get a lot of hate for saying this, bring it on you bottom feeders!
I guess I don't see whats so horrendous about the guy the way you do. He seems like a normal dude and he seems pretty cool and pretty funny in a lot of stuff too. I mean even Patrice really liked the guy and he was a great judge of character, can't you cut the guy even a little slack?
I think the falling out with these guys mostly had to do with Patrice's death. As sad as it is, Patrice had such an animosity, fans may have called it the OP&A Show....
No. The disliked each other waaay before that. You can tell they annoyed each other back in 05. That's why they needed Jimmy and other comedians to be the middle man
I am a new fan of Opie & Anthony. Why does everyone hate Opie so much? I get that Anthony is a lot funnier,, but he is funnier than everyone. What did Opie actually do?
Opie was the original radio dude before Anthony or Norton were ever a thing. So when he got together with Ant, O&A was born, they moved to Sirius XM, and I mean, like I said elsewhere, Opie is the radio guy who has to get things moving, take calls, cut to break, and a lot of people decided he's the buzzkill when the others were being hilarious. So he gets a bad rep for that.
He ruins good segments by going to callers. He also has an ego that you can not make fun of him or he'll snap at you. He's very pretentious and makes himself more important to the show than he really is.
グッチグッチcitypop It's more than that. He was uncomfortable being a square host while comedians had a good time carrying the show. It was noticeable how little he was needed and his ego couldn't take it often. You'll notice when guys were riffing on a topic laughing he'll interject with a phone call just to involve himself. As a personality he wasn't always terrible, mostly he was fine. But he was seriously passive aggressive and controlling on the show and behind the scenes. His lack of self awareness on how goofy and clumsy he could be stepping on jokes made him cringy to comics. He never liked being the butt end of jokes like everyone else too. See 'Greggshells'. An unfunny guy who kinda knew he was awkward, paired with comedians who couldn't air his annoying shit out in even in a joking way because he was an insecure boss left a resentment that simmered for years. When Ant was fired Opie never genuinely fought for his his job. You'll hear him say they were moving in different directions and the show was going to end anyway. He was happy to see him go. 'All the best' messages were phony and fans caught on. The fallout Opie and Jim show was a disaster. Jim being close to Ant didn't sit well. His paranoia saw Jim as a mole who never had his back like he had Ant's. He was right really, but he saw him as a hostile threat and took it out on him in a feminine way. When you listen to Jim vs Opie compilations it came to light he would ignore his welcomes, take his phone out when Jim was talking, move the show past Jim's take and block Jim's guests or purposefully invite people he didn't like. He turned the show into a political playground. After splitting with Jim, he was paying new regulars big money to be yes-men laugh tracks to stay in line. It's painful listening to them laugh at nothing. He was an insecure ego maniac by the end, shitting on all loyal comedians who made the show over the decade. He killed all fun and the show rightfully died.
Opie was a real true to the bone communications major and full blown certified disc jockey. That's why he had problems with the others. They just goofed around where he had worked for that almost a decade minimum before getting recognized. It was his show from the beginning. Not Anthony's.
Jamie Moll the story of Opie being a radio star who brought Anthony on to show is a myth. He was on wbab on long island doing 7 to 11 its a little local station that doesn't even reach all of long island. He played classic rock and would talk for 3 minutes in between songs. It was nothing ground breaking. If it wasn't for Anthony he would still be working there making 80 g a year and doing weekend appearances at some Shitty car dealership. So please stop that Opie was some huge radio star before he met Anthony. He was a nobody.
Jamie Moll uhhh ya that's why the show was successful..imagine Opie career without norten or Anthony...well there wouldn't be one..in the other those two would have been fine
I understand how this may come across but I seriously can't recommend Artie and Doug's book enough. I found them much more rewarding than listening to all this rambling. Yeah I'm not trying to come across like some dickhead intellectual but if you're considering then check them out. Pretty sure they're all available on audiobook too.
Artie's Crash and Burn is very depressing but it's the sort of book that you can give to people who know who are partying too hard and fucking themselves up and it might give them a bit of perspective. Doug's This is Not Fame is better than Digging up Mother but they're all epic page turners, I'd knock one out in a couple of days which is a big deal for someone who reads as slowly as me.
Opie was almost never funny, but listening to the Nopie uploads on here is weird. It doesn't flow right. I think Opie's malevolent streak added something to the proceedings, and he obviously was running the show. I just wish he weren't so damn sensitive and always trying to prove himself.
He got it when he was a kid by the other neighborhood kids. He hated it but it stuck. I'm assuming they called him that cuz he looked like Opie from The Andy Griffith Show.
The Unknown Psycho~ Cheers man. I just presumed it was a nickname Uncle Paul gave him during the babysitting years. That wasn't the only thing that STUCK to him lol Suuurrreee...
The big problem is people assume Opie was supposed to be comedically equal to Ant and Jim, and his lack of funny (to say the least...) made him hatable when his job was to be the straight man. The actual problem was Opie didn't stick to being the straight man and guiding the show which he was great at when he was relaxed. Easiest job in the world. His ego and feeling left out of his own show while Ant and Jim and everyone else got the love of fans while he got no credit - that was the issue - and that fucked with him. He was also the boss who hired and fired people. He scheduled or vetoed guests. He was in charge of negotiating contracts. Nobody likes the boss to begin with but Opie built the entire show. He made Jimmy a hired regular with a salary because he saw talent and Jimmy brought the comics in. Opie didn't stick to his place and I feel Ant and everyone else exacerbated his self-consciousness and resentment of being the guy fans hate when he built and ran the show. So he became an asshole bulldozing over people, trying to alpha people with his boss position, Patrice dying broke a lot of the balance, and dude probably felt "fuck this then". I sympathize with Opie as hatable as he allows himself to be too often but the constant hate is almost robotic at this point with people who don't bother to comprehend the context and history of the show. I mean since the show is gone, none of them apart has remotely close to the magic of O&A. Even when Jimmy goes on Compound with Ant, it's so not what it used to be.
The best part of this was that Gomez wasn’t important enough to put on the title and left in the bio lmao.
The worst part is that he's even mentioned at all
He's funny but kinda sucks

Those shows were beloved almost universally because they were absolutely hilarious and flowed brilliantly, proving Opie’s utter worthlessness and lack of contribution, as his mere absence elevated the overall quality of the show to a level that simply wouldn’t be possible had he shown up.
@@TriStar44 Exactly. Just because Anthony and Jims shows aren't amazing without Opie doesn't = Anthony and Jim need Opie to have a good show. They just need to both be on the same show.
When and where is this from?
"My God.....theres not any goodwill towards Opie" LMAO exactly fuck the hole
Eleu Cass and the other comics...
Where did you get this audio from?
Love when they talk about captain insecurity, but sometimes it's just too many people interrupting each other
Don't Ever mess up a good PAY Cheak FOR an easy safe job. I think that is why the guys are so mad at Opie.
Where is this clip from?
I don't hate Opie
I can listen to these for days
What show was this?
anyone have a line on the clip of artie pitching duos that replace ope and ant?
I bet those radio station softball games were funny
I can speak to this a tad...
I too have that somewhat-feminine quality of wanting to connect, and being passive-aggressive when it didn't work. Greg just wanted what others had, but didn't know how to get it, because that was not his role. And, so, the frustration comes in, and we are afraid to be honest about it, because men aren't supposed to do that.
I'm not excusing. I'm just saying I understand that. It creates problems, but so does our type of personality.
Difference between envy and jealousy. Opie had everything he ever wanted and was still miserable. The perfect example of why money doesn't buy happiness
Poignant
Opie is now Howard Stern Jr
Little dopie always wanted attention from his daddy Hollywood Howie
Ants line at 1:19 ahahah
All this gossiping about Opie is a giant turn off. Somethings not right about it makes me not like any of these guys. holy shit and Anthony is one of my favorite celebrity type person thing
Kenny BeQuiet Gossip? They're talking about someone they knew intimately for over 2 decades. And now they can finally do it collectively and freely. I don't blame them one bit.
why do YOU hate him so much? The show ended years ago. let it go man.
Kenny BeQuiet I dont think anyone could care less that it turns you off. Find something else to listen to then, pretty simple really.
Live your own lives.. who gives a fuck either way?
Gossiping hu? Sounds like you're just tired of hearing it and now you're calling it that. Facts are facts and we can discuss things without "gossiping".
I like these guys, but the group sewing circle-type bitching about Opie gets a little stale. Sort of sounding like a high school clique trashing a former member no longer considered cool. There was a chemistry and dynamic about Opie and Anthony and Jimmy, it was a great show. I'd still love to see a rapprochement in the future, all of them together again.
Trajan Canuck That'll NEVER happen.
You clearly don't understand or haven't listened to O&A very long. Opie added NOTHING. The show without Jim or Anthony would be non-existent. Opie and Jimmy was an utter dog shit radio show. If everybody Opie works with ends up disliking him, he truly is an autistic jackass.
Trajan Canuck ughck.
Ona are hacks.
Patrice was the life and soul of the show and it died with him.
If you miss the old O&A format that's basically what the Chip Podacast is.
7/8/24 Opie still has a show and none of these bums do
I'm lost, how did the whole feud start? I just listen to all the old tapes of them having fun with Patrice & Burr....
You're the opie....
It looks like Opie is fighting against the scummiest version of the Power Rangers ever assembled.
Wait where the fuck was this? Like literally 4 of my top 10 in the same room.
Only thing that’s missing is someone like Stern to do the heavy lifting and let these guys be the comedy guys. Anthony, Artie and Jimmy with a lead like Stern would have been amazing. Too bad Stern hates all of them.
Omg Anthony and Jimmy need to move on damm
Who is the guy next to Jimmy?
Luis j gomez
This is a funny group of people. Where is this from?
Artie, Anthony and Jimmy need to get a show together
when/what was this from?
AA show 81
You're Anidiot lol damn dude good one
You're Anidiot why are you so mad at me
You're Anidiot lol why do you keep liking your own comments
relax man, everythings gonna be okay
I never thought about Opie needing to be funny at all he was the guy steering the boat and that's it.
That's the problem. He didn't have to be funny but he tried to be and got mad when no one laughed.
BAB PEEG but it was better when he wasnt "directig the ship" opster would constantly cut off the best riffs and start ones that went no where
He did a pretty awful job at "steering the ship" though, the number of times he interrupted great conversations with moronic callers or snooze-inducing news stories was just ridiculous.
Damn everyone is still hurting...
Cuz these guys had it made , imagine your job is sitting and hanging out laughing your ass off with your friends . Greggshells is nothing woitout them, he’s a bore . Just listen to his new podcast
Doug is cruise ship drunk.
Is this recent? If so, what show is this?
Guys, Opie was one third of the greatest radio show in history. Give him his due.
joe garofalo He was never on Howard.
+Butcher Chop Good one. I got to disagree.
If I stand around while 2 guys create something great am I one third of its creation? No, I was just there. Opie did nothing more then some board operation and forcing calls
@@coreytrevor1920 when a talent agent finds talent, do you not credit him? He brought Ant and Jim, what bigger contribution is needed?
Luis is on this but he doesn’t get any billing.
What show is this taken from?
listen I hated Opie the second I heard the show back in the day,but to bash him is kinda wrong bn he gave Anthony his start/career in radio and same with Jimmy!
They all love Opie. One day they'll all get in the room together, hash it all out, and we'll all be lucky if it's recorded.
Lol
🍀
Never gonna happen
Which AA show is this from? Can I stream it?
This is from Jim and Sam
What is the name of this podcast show?
I have just done THE..... MOST..... AMAZING.....FART.....!!!!
Sorry, but it really was like a 19thC. steamtrain crossed with a rumble-strip car crash. And I HAD to tell someone....
What's that got to do with anything?
More female etc. Because it ruined the atmosphere and nobody cares about it.... Just like Opie.
Not trying to be a dick for real. But I have listened to O&A clips and I have never been impressed. Can someone send me a link to what is supposed to be so great?
Artie “ah ah ya know ya know ah...ah” Lange. Shut up with your fake stammer. Interrupt every 5 seconds.
Ant has Tera Reid voice
Tara Reid is a bridge troll
There is definitely not enough people talking over each other. There should be more guys in the studio.
You're an O&A fan but you're complaining about too many people in studio?
Norton is the only one with talent. Unless you call defying the odds of death by O.D. talent then add Artie. I find Opie funny but I totally agree, his inability to get busted on by friends is just sad.
So what happen opie and anthony ain't together anymore?what happen between em ?
Does anyone else find Artie completely unlikable?
ImNotJoshPotter talks like he's had a stroke. The phlegmy winded laughs make me want to gag on my phone and he's not fucking funny at all.
ImNotJoshPotter Artie is awesome buddy
ImNotJoshPotter Have you guys never listen to stern? Give me a break Artie is a genius so what he's a addict.
Chriskatie Thibert he just bums me out. I cant get past it.
ImNotJoshPotter
Never. To have made me laugh for so long, I'll always root for him. Addiction sucks.
Who or what is an Opie,???
Burr is just continuing "uninformed" without DeRosa
@@the_endgame Mr. Bill Nia Hill is insufferable now.
Stanhope needs to learn moderation with his narcotic intake
Greggshells
SWIFTzTrigger and op isn’t battling with a criminal record or wondering if he likes guys or girls. Op rules.
Okay Greggshells
Any goodwill Ant owed Gregg (for Gregg simply wanting to work with him BTW. It's a two way street) was spent up every day by being around him.
I guess I don't see whats so horrendous about the guy the way you do. He seems like a normal dude and he seems pretty cool and pretty funny in a lot of stuff too. I mean even Patrice really liked the guy and he was a great judge of character, can't you cut the guy even a little slack?
SWIFTzTrigger if you don't see it you don't see it.

I think the falling out with these guys mostly had to do with Patrice's death. As sad as it is, Patrice had such an animosity, fans may have called it the OP&A Show....
No. The disliked each other waaay before that. You can tell they annoyed each other back in 05. That's why they needed Jimmy and other comedians to be the middle man
I thought Artie died after being fired from King Pelican
Don't like it. When they are all together they think they're the cool kids. Like the shows, but definitely not the cool crew.
Stern and Cumia show
I am a new fan of Opie & Anthony. Why does everyone hate Opie so much? I get that Anthony is a lot funnier,, but he is funnier than everyone. What did Opie actually do?
Doug Burr I think the Opie hate is very overexagerated, but he could be a buzz kill at times.
Doug Burr look up "walking on gregshells".. Then you'll start to notice the awkward and insecure energy he brought to the show.
He killed all fun and the show rightfully died.
that was mussolini with the on time trains. not hitler.
What a great idea the AA show
"..it just makes us the amazingly special, fun people we are!..".
Anthony Cumia.
I cant trust anyone that says a thing like that about themselves.
Being sarcastic dude
are opie and ant fighting again? i thought they were cool
Jimmy didn’t want to bring up the dave smith thing with Louis?
and me...Louis J!
Once again Artie just mumbles and brings nothing to the table. Why do Ant and Jim insist on carrying him???
Death pool. Artie or Doug?
Gathering No Moss I'll take Artie for a million. Doug will be 95 still smoking 3 packs of Marlboro reds a day
Can anyone tell me how Gregg Hughes got the nickname 'Opie'?
I'll bet it's something he made up himself...
That wasn't the only thing that STUCK to him lol
Suuurrreee...
Liam Tube if you picked that avatar to make people think they have a hair on their phone then mission accomplished
Was that character played by Ron Howard? I'm British, so I don't know.
cbappa2 I just did the exact same thing
