What made the rejection hurt was that Su-hyeok didn't actually vocalize it. He showed caring gestures to On-jo which just build up her hope. Then proceed to crush it when he's with Nam-ra, showing On-jo he likes someone else in almost every scene
Suhyeok did nothing wrong. I think he took her feelings lightly that's why he did not reject her directly and he was right anyway. He has a feeling On Jo also like Cheong San and just haven't realised it yet. That's why he told Cheong San to stop treating her like a man. And I can't imagine how he would insert a direct rejection on that situation after the zombies. They were barely breathing and On Jo's feeling wasn't discussed again.
On-jo is the strongest women I've seen in this series,She lost her father,she lost her besties,she was rejected by Su-hyeok and she's still keep smiling,Such a lovely spirit she has,Hope Cheong-san will return back in season 2 and they both have a good time in season 2 ❤❤❤❤

Okay this is just my interpretation yea?? I think that Su heyok has been in a dilemma ever since onjo confessed to him. I feel like he is confused about his feelings.
