- Bobby Flay Vs. Tony Danza: Whose Meatballs Are Better?
The winner might surprise you.
When we found out that Tony Danza had a good meatball recipe, we were overcome with excitement. He's not the kind of celeb who cooks to be trendy. (Or least we didn't think he would be.) We were very eager to test his recipe, but we needed something to compare it to. Enter: Bobby Flay.
If you like to cook, chances are very high that you've cooked with Flay - either by way of TV or cookbook. Most of his dishes are highly rated on FoodNetwork.com, including his meatball recipe. If Danza's recipe could compete with his, we thought, it must be pretty dang good. So we threw a snackdown.

I've watched like 5 of these videos in a row and it's extremely annoying that we can't see which dish they're talking about when they're taste testing
Nicole Nelson agreed!
YESSS IT IS
Right?!???
Yes it is!
Oml I thought it was just me
Ya know, instead of just hearing the random comments from the people tasting the food, maybe you could show us which dish they're sampling so we know which comments go to which food. You know, like actually show us the thing that's supposed to be the subject of the video? Just a thought.
Cranky Old Lady agree.
Cranky Old Lady I agreed with you haha
Good point!
It seems they don't read comments, or if they do, they pay no mind to them.
This is a good segment but you guys should get rid of the music it’s insufferable and when the people are trying the food you should either show us or write a caption of which one they’re eating
the music is sickening
Tony's is very authentic. That's a slow summer gravy, that's what's lacking in a lot of Italian food these days honestly. Well done!
These segments are so good except for this ridiculous music
Meatballs AND ribs ?!! IM THERE
I madera Tony Danza's recipe and it was amazing, lots of flavor. It took more than 2 hours to make, but it was really worth it
Tony danza is italian better know how to make meatballs
Angela Marcinkevich
He IS a meatball.
Meatballs aren’t even an Italian recipe it’s an American thing
@@Hehe-tg3xk Meatballs have been around for centuries, and even American meatballs are derived from European cuisine influences, in particular Italian, Iberian (Portuguese-Spanish), and Nordic (Swedish-Finnish) cuisines.
@@Hehe-tg3xk Maybe, but the Italians have perfected it! Lol!
Like sex, low and slow wins, baby .....
Hold me closer, Tony Dannnnnnzaaa! lol
Elle R haha
Can you start including the ingredients? I personally would like to make some of the recipes from the videos you guys make. Great job on your videos!
Makes sense that an Italian would make better spaghetti and meatballs than an Irishman who specializes in southwestern food
I love these video, but would love to know which dish the ppl are eating so i know which one they are talking about.
Where can I find the recipes
the editor must really like electronic music lol
edit * too bad its shitty electronic music
Loved it, do more like this please!
We will!
"Low and slow" never fails, baby. Bobby Flay needs to try a little tenderness! Of course, time is a crucial factor in the kitchen and there's only so much space on a stove for the prep guys, so 30 minutes sense because that extra hour and a half could mean life or death at dinner service.
“ well season” Adds a pinch of salt . 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤔🤔🤔
I could taste the garlic in Tony Danza's meatballs through my screen.
Can’t wait to try Tony’s recipe out!
I must be using the wrong tomatos (Cento) but my sauce doesn’t bubbly pretty like the video. Please help so I can cut down on my foil usage.
Lmfao @ 🎶"Hold me closer...Tony Danza!" 🎶 ~Phoebe~
Anyway....I knew his balls would win 😜
I like to use ground chicken when I can find it with parmesan and Italian seasoning mixed in for my meatballs. Everyone loves it
Okay. Ribs in the sauce ... awesome!
I want Tony to get on beat Bobby flay show!
Wow!!!! I'm sure surprised on this, but not so much after I seen what Tony did vs Bobby! I'm so shocked Bobby, for a throwdown it was over after you seen everything Tony did vs You. It was only by a pinch thought, because you are the throwdown man!!
Am so happy Tony beat Bobby.
I wish I had friends like them.. 😔
Gotta try his recipe tho!
the music augh
I knew when I saw the spare ribs that Tony was gonna win. Lol
I heard people in the video saying that they expected more from bobby and tbh that's stupid as shit because he said a few years ago that he has only made meatballs about a dozen times in his life if this was a battle of paella bobby would smoke Tony Danza, Bobby is not italian Tony is
So Tony Danza would totally win an episode of beat Bobby Flay, right?
This is a good win! 🍝
These videos are addicting
Ok, haven’t actually watched this video yet. It’s on ⏸
I want Tony Danza to win this one sooooo... I’m gonna say he wins ;)
Unpause
Anyone Catch The Friends Reference at 3:00?! Phoebe Originally Thought The Lyrics to Elton John’s Song “Tiny Dancer” was “Hold Me Closer Tony Danza” not “Tiny Dancer” 🤣
If you are going to quote the great Phoebe, please do it verbatim. She actually sang "Hold me close young Tony Danzaaaa" 😂
😕 I thought the celebrities were actually cooking.
I would of loved watching them make it a a slower pass. To hear the banter between both of them . With recipes given of course.
It's because Tony made it like his mama or grandma did ...
Hold me closer Tony Danza. LOL
I appreciate watching Bobby Flay lose. Thank you, Delish.
Heheheh
I used to think him an arrogant ass and then I began watching Beat Bobby Flay and saw what a great sense of humor he has. He also shows a lot of humility on that show.
Subscribed to this channel because of the music
I love Bobby and Tony !! 💙💙🙏
Tony Danza's meatballs recipe looks delicious and I can't wait to try it.
Tony's sauce was killer. Also, bacon makes everything better.
I’ve watched a few of these and so far... no one from Food Network, but Mario ( The Iron Chief ) have won these challenges.
Bobby,
1, what a pound of onions?
2, never bay leaf in our Italian sauce. Ask 100 Italians.
I do love your brunches.😎
Really? Guess it depends on where ur from my nana taught me to make spaghetti sauce always 1 or 2 bay. Leaves lol.
Use jazz or something not terrible EDM
Gotta try Tony's recipe.
Tony’s meatballs look INSANE!!!! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Tony!!!!! Yaaaaas
Hmmmm. Normally don't like the blind tasting, but love Tony Danza. Preferred his recipe the best because the sauce was infused with the ribs. Low and slow. But stop doing the hide the food segments.
Ribs in the sauce YEAH you win🥇
A wooden spoon used on raw meat?????
The idea that wooden spoons are more prone to harboring bacteria from raw meat is a myth. It's actually the preferred utensil over others as studies have shown that bacteria does not persist on wood. The idea of not using a wooden spoon is that you do not allow it to come into contact with ready-to-eat food, which is where cross-contamination comes into play.
I love tony i know just by the look of it being done ot was a 🏆
I knew Tony Danza would win..Tony Danze you the Manza 😎
Well Tony is legit ITALIAN, lol!! I just kept saying he's using ribs in his MEATBALLS, LOL!!!
So who decided to put parmesan cheese on Tony's and not Bobby's?
I wonder could if I simmer tony danza’s Sunday gravy in a crockpot
I certainly would and the house would smell great for hours.
Team Tony!
Glooooop,.glooooop,glooooop hahaha
I love the video but man the music choice is horrible
When Tony Danza “taught” at your school, so the whole magic celebrity thing wit him isn’t there with him.... and you low key dislike him since he’s the reason your school added a uniform policy 🙈
How dare you serve that pasta not tossed in the sauce?
Forget about that! Italians don't eat spaghetti with their meatballs anyway!
Tony is way better omg
Breaking News: Garlic shortage around the world!!!
Thanks Tony
There’s apparently a “garlic mafia”. Yeah, I laughed too, but it’s really a thing.
I like Tony's method better
Tony’s, Tony’s.
Somebody help me please my ears are bleeding from this music!😱🤯😬🤪🤪🤪🤪😵😵😵😵😵techno... always with the techno. Its almost everything on youtube.... man I hate freaking techno. Thanks RUclips for that. Good video BUT THE TECNO MADE ME FREAKOUT!🤤😖😖😖
I thought tony was going to win, honestly Bobby’s recipes aren’t very good
Is there anything he cant do ??
Tony's meatballs look beautiful
Bobby Flay is a cook with red hair and no lips. I’m positive he doesn’t cook everything the best and this is the perfect example. His rules and tips wouldn’t apply to old fashioned good ole comfort foods that Tony danza it any Italian has been making their whole life.
After watching this video, I question myself, "How much garlic is too much garlic?"
I’m i the only one who make tomato sauce and get gunk everywhere? I have to put tin foil on my stove. Please tell what I’m doing wrong
What a farce
Both of their meatBALLS look delicious.
Easy. My grandpa's
Yeah, 30 minutes simmer for Bobby’s is way too short!! That’s probably a restaurant or Iron Chef preparation time…. If you simmered Bobby’s for 2 hours I’m sure the flavors would meld together much better and this would have been a close call!! I’m not sure that those spare ribs are doing too much for the I-talian Tony… Fugetaboutit..!! 😜🤌🏻.. Now smoke or grill dem joints, yo, and then we be tawkin!!!
I clicked because I read bigger.
Bobby flay uses veal how dare he I like the other one
Why do you have this title with neither person on camera? This is just 2 different recipes for meatballs nothing special
J Otto it's chefs/celebrities recipes that they stand by and felt were good enough to share with the world, so in some people's eyes it might be "special"
No italian would ever serve spaghetti like that. Don’t be ridiculous.
too fast
C'mon. Tony grew up Italian.
Where is the sugar
Tara Morris you don’t need sugar if you use good quality tomatoes. San Marzano tomatoes are the way to go.👍🏻
Black folks and sugar. I swear I hate adding sugar to pasta. It plenty enough sugar in tomatoes and even more in jar sauce.
Kori S. White people put sugar in their pasta too.
Kori S. You didn't even need to add black to that statement.
Kori S. Right im tires of seeing sugar and bell peppers in the sauce 😂
Right off the bat Tony's gravy is too chunky for my taste. I put my tomatoes, including crushed, thru a food mill. A smooth gravy is the way to go in my opinion.
still that's super easy to remidate
usually those chunkier tomato's cooking for several hours get pretty smooth , I also like a pretty smooth meat sauce
seattwa definitely. Chunky gravy has too much texture, and sort of disrupts the “balance” I like in my food.
That's my preference as well.
Uh Oh, you're gonna start a gravy vs. sauce debate.
Whoever is doing the prep work/cooking on your staff does a shit job of mixing the meatball ingredients and that will keep them from tasting uniformly. I've noticed this on several of your video's and it's annoying.
Can you not with this fucking music?
I have been saying it for 20 years....BOBBY FLAY CAN'T COOK!
That is NOT how you do meatballs. You should not serv it like that. Both recipies in this video is totally wrong. Real Swedish Meatballs i served with potato mash, pickles, brown sause and lingonsylt (I don’t know what lingonsylt is called in english but you can google transalte it!!!!! I am upset!
These are Italian Meatballs!
But please try the classic Swedish ones!! They are amazing
That definitely IS how you do Italian meatballs. Swedish meatballs are delicious also, but these are not them! Lol
Frying meatballs is gross! Crunchy hard outside? That’s disgusting! Cook them right in the sauce 2 hours. Same texture and consistency all the way through!
Jamie Moffatt they soften up during cooking in the sauce anyway
Yesss! 😍👍🍝🍷
You hit the nail on the head.
I find it so wrong that anyone eats veal. It's disgusting.
Stop using animal flesh for food. It’s their body not yours. Stop using your body as a graveyard for other animals.
Stop telling other people what to eat.
There are so many other healthy alternatives that don't involve killing an animal. I will keep saying this as long as shows like this keep promoting dead animal flesh or animal cruelty.
You eat what you want to eat. Let others eat what they want to eat.
Eat both plants and animals sustainably and you will get benefits. Cruelty is when you eat for enjoyment not for nutrition.
Tigers and lions and all carnivorous eat sustainability for nutrition. Most humans eat for pleasure.
