FUN FACT: If you put one of those futuristic food synthesizers from Into The Future on any community lot, it'll spawn waiters and turn the whole lot into a functional restaurant!

@@TaikaJamppa Yup! Just tap on any table and you'll have the options to order breakfast/lunch/dinner or order favorite food if you're too lazy to look through the menu

I’ve been revisiting Sims 3 since they released the Mac update, and hoo boy I forgot how much effort it was building/furnishing... makes me appreciate Sims 4 building WAY more 😂

Sims 4 building is easier but not as fun as sims 3.
Really fun to see you go back to TS3 and revisit this after so long!
I know you’re not necessarily planning more Aluna Island builds (but yes please) but since you turned the Gallery into a restaurant, may I suggest you build a different gallery if you do? Pretty sure there is gameplay attached to art galleries in TS3 which is why most worlds have one.

That extra space in the kitchen could be a "chef's table"...an exclusive dining table for customers who pay extra to watch the chefs work and get personalized meals.
James, TS3 has tonnes of shelving. Some as a unit, and others singles shelf. TYVM James, for a new marvelous building for my worlds!

You should get the mod that gets rid of the sims 3 bloom effect. It’s that thing where a lot of objects, especially countertops look like they’re glowing

I've been watching all the old Aluna Island videos lately and if James continued with it I would literally ascend
To fix the UI glitch just use the mode hotkeys to switch to a different one. F1, F2, F3, or F4 switches modes. That way you don’t need to quit and reload.

The location and shape of this build make it look like a cross between Iron Man's house and the Millennium Falcon

The green actually made the designs you built stand out. The grey leaves it as being there but not standing out so much. The lighting issue has to do with windows. Even at night light comes through the windows.
Didn’t Monte Vista have the wood fired pizza oven that you use to make that wood fired lasagna as well as various other specialty recipes? That might be something to add to the kitchen, plus nectar racks. Maybe even a nectar making vat? Loving the Sims 3 content!! ❤️
I'm LOVING all the sims 3 content! My laptop can't run it, so I get my Sims 3 fix vicariously through James lol. Best game ever I miss it so much 💔😭 The sims 5 better be like a mixture of 2 and 3 i swearrrrr.

Definitely consider leaving that extra space in the kitchen as storage. Storage never goes wasted in these places lol. Maybe a staff bathroom too though I don't know if customers would use it.
Lasagna is my favorite food and now I’m wondering how much sims 3 influenced that.

Those sectional sofa pieces were so nice. If you put two together it would actually function as a loveseat, and three would function as a couch, so you could nap and do other couchy things on them. And they looked great in campers, and allowed you to have different colors for different parts of your sofa.
Six years later James is going to be like "Why did I decide to go with green in the interiors?! This looks soooo tacky!"

Oh man. I remember the bizarre uneven lighting in Sims 3. All those surfaces that get totally blown out when there's a light in the ceiling, and the floors that are like black holes sucking in all the light. I used to get so frustrated trying to work with crappy lighting. But I think it turned out pretty neat anyway. haha

I like this a lot better. You could make the balcony connect to the kitchen and have a sort of outdoor Garden for the chefs. I feel like a typical kitchen would have a lot more shelves with tools, pots, plates, etc. and more grill top and burner space. And a section maybe solely for salads and bread..a pantry.

Lmao the chrome was my favorite swatch. I would use it for toilets and tubs turned all the way up to white. Try it, it's good 👌👌 (probably not but I thought so then)
Aluna! I remember during one of the livestreams on Aluna (think it was the one with Xavi and his ute) we were playing guess Deli’s name after she told us it was within the name ‘Deligracy’, and the chat ultimately came to the conclusion that Deli’s name was Gracy lol 😆

Oh my god you got the glitch that I sometimes get! I've not seen anyone else get it, I lose EVERYTHING when it happens, I always save before entering build mode because of it! Glad you saved before it happened!
Also, the blooming issue (stuff glowing when its lit up) triggered irlen syndrome and would give me migraines so I found a way to switch it off, you have to change a bit of code in the a game configuration file. It improves things a lot.
Great build! I like that you have gone back to the sims3.
Ive actually seen public bathrooms with huge windows and it felt weird at first but stalls are still private and it turned out to be really nice.

Sims 5 needs to combine the depth and detail of the sims 3 with the aesthetic and user friendliness of the sims 4.

This is very weird baring in mind I don’t remember this build. But I had a dream the other night and it was set in a restaurant very similar to this with views. So i can confirm this is a very dreamy build I guess lol

your comment about the kitchen doors being glass for safety makes me realize that the windows in kitchen doors are probably to see if someone is on the other side. though, all of the kitchens i've worked in (well, near, as a server) used switchback corners versus actual doors for the main entrances from the dining room

There IS actually a non-Store functional restaurant. You just need to put a food synthesizer (Into the Future) on any community lot and it'll spawn waiters (one for each synthesizer) and it will add interactions to all the tables on the lot so you can order food.
The entire video I was like damn I love the Sims 4, until you got to the bathroom stalls and reminded me of my beloved color wheel 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Logistically wouldn’t it be better if the dinning area was next to the kitchen so the waiters don’t have to walk through the whole restaurant to deliver the food. And then the bar area can just go on the other side closer to the bathrooms. Still a great improvement on the previous build though, love your work James!
. . Just a thought. The extra space in the kitchen could be a staff changing room and bathroom :)

If you change the display settings you can make the control panel bit (idk what you call it) bigger or smaller. Hope that helps your posture troubles!
You should definitely remake this build in the sims 4!! That’s what I thought you would do and I feel like it would come out 10x better

That is one of my fave builds from you! Maybe if you changed your resolution, or graphics it will increase the size of the icons.
Maybe you can make the triangular area in the kitchen a wine storage unit, or a freezer. You can also make it a bathroom for the workers.
I don't think it is tacky, I like the dark colors and the aesthetics work well, maybe you can landscape the front and the sides more, have the cliffs lighted with outdoor lights, and maybe fancy the roof up a bit with marble roofing. Good thing you didn't do this in the Sims 4, because I don't know if it will work. I could never get Dine Out to work for me in game.
I would have made it a celebrity's hangout or a lounge with a stage.
At 6:45 when your game crashes like that you press F5 key , it brings up the menu with the 3 dots and let’s you click anything in that menu, I think from memory you can’t see your cursor in that menu but it highlights the buttons ,then you click Edit Town and it will take you to the town view and you can go back in to your lot like normal.
Works for my game every time , this normally happens to me when I’m using the create a tool like crazy lol
Recreate in Sims 4! (no lot has that view, but maybe some creative terrain action?)
