Great selection of cassettes there Simon. Cassettes were my go to for buying music in the 90s when vinyl was being phased out for cds and cassettes. I still have the ones I bought from then. I did lose the occasional one when the kids got hold of them and unwound them.
I enjoyed this video, Simon. Sometimes I wish I'd've just stuck with cassettes, which was my primary music medium all through the '80s and most of the '90s, because I always liked them. Small, convenient, easy to duplicate, mobile, cheap.......who needs vinyl?! Haha!
There always be the most convenient medium to record on, I enjoy recording vinyl and sometimes a few of my favourite mp3s to them just so I can have something to instantly play in the cassette deck, thanks for watching
I am always in the hunt for a good cassette. They are getting hard to find. And the ones out there are way up in price. But I’ll keep the hunt. Love your extensive collection.
Hi Simon. Just yesterday someone left a comment on an old video of mine and mentioned Sharks, a band I'd not heard of (ex-Free Andy Fraser and Chris Spedding). I watched your video and lo-and-behold you've got their first two albums on cassette! A few other surprises in there too; I was expecting mostly 90s music, but you have quite a lot of interesting stuff from the 60s and 70s.
Sounds great ! better than a phone? hopefully they don't rip tear? charity shops sound better than ebbbbayi? nice Tina Turner, Right said Fred,, Beatles , supertramp, very nice Queen , nice Ac/dc, Iron Maiden, Madonna , Hollies,, Moody Blues, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, nice Stones , Rush , slade, Van Halen, here are some questions when on the road and you have a portable player which album do you spend more time with Def Leppard Hysteria on cassette or cd? 2. is the Hollies rarties rare because the songs are not popular or people aren't into this Hollies? 3. a suggestion before you make your next video why not listen to the cassettes that you haven't gotten a chance to listen to? 4. of any album of the same band , same title that you have on cassette and cd when on the road and you have both portable players which do you play more of the cassette or cd?
Hi Mark how are you, I'll quite happily answer your questions as you always offer much support my channel and to many other channels in the vc. I'll answer the best and most honestly as I can, as I always do. 1. I only have a cd player in my car and ipod I can connect it up to, unless the album is on my playlist, then neither format really, I never take my cassettes out of the house anymore unlike when I was kid or teenager with a Walkman or playing them in my dad's cassette player and don't take to many cds with me these days either, virtually all my cds are ripped to my desktop computer so not much need to these days, although sometimes I may buy the odd cd I love listening to from a charity shop and keep it I'm the car for a while, even if I have a copy already, I tend to do that on odd occasion. 2. Those hollies tracks where just rarities as they weren't on any of their previous albums 3. Your right I should give those tapes I haven't heard a listen, I do intend too but I'm currently in the process of recording my whole vinyl record collection to my cpu and it takes a lot of time to do that, as well as running a youtube channel, children and working full time, I do listen to music at home usually vinyl or from my cpu, sometimes cassette but I tend to leave those alone, as it can be frustrating when wow and flutter kicks in and the tape becomes unlistenable, then what do you do with a collectable yet unlistenable cassette? 4. On the road I leane towards playing a cd in the car, if it was a choice of cd or cassette, I guess I prefer listening to something digital for the outdoors and analogue for the home, but I don't take cds with me these days, only the few I may have in the car, I don't have anything to play cassette for on the road anymore, I think there to unreliable to be used in that way imho
@@vinyldale I'm quite far behind on videos. when something is unlistenable it's very hard guess you have to get another copy. nothing wrong with having multiple albums . I'm lucky my kids have zero interest so the don't touch them, but if this was the 90s things would be different

A well-recorded Type II cassette can sound almost as good as CD. It’s a shame the format has fallen off.
