As wonderful an actor as Wallace Huo is, I think the women in this drama outshine him. These are a group of very talented women. Kudos to each one.
Agree, but. Don’t think they outshined his acting but we’re definitely portrayed as being far more intelligent then he was! Watch The Yanxi Palace, it was great!

@@mwoods6533 this drama is more realistic than Yanxi palace story. Yanxi story is just more entertaining and cheesy but unreal and not the representation of the history we all know that Fuca Fuheng married the woman she love and had many children from her.
Ruyi is very loyal to his husband from the beginning to the end. Husband is kind of stupid to believe other wives that Ruyi cheated on him. So husband deserved to be lonely in the rest of his life time.

I love this series. Unfortunately, the translation didn't make sense in a few parts so I'm not sure what exactly was said at times but I do appreciate the effort for those of us who don't understand Chinese. ;)

I read from an article that Qianlong made Ling Empress at the same time Her Son announced as Emperor. So maybe Qianlong wanted to avoid suspicion and save his crown prince from assasination.
