Really appreciate the effort you went to, to get this video released. Maybe its worth a "Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse" story of what it took to get this video out?
Very nice! I watched "The Graduate" when I was Ben's age and then had a long gap before viewing it again and when I finally did, by then I was Mrs. Robinson's age and let me tell you, it was a very, very different viewing experience.
Ok so despite being subbed, YT didn't show this anywhere on my feed? 🤨 Had to look you up. Sorry im a month late I think this is my dad's favourite movie and he's a film nerd. After I watching this I think I'll be armed with enough about its themes to keep up with him 😊 Thanks Matt & Co for the entertainment and indirectly giving me great chats with my dad 👍
I suppose only 2% of humanity meets deadlines when being creative. Thank you that you didn't stop because you missed your own deadline, you enriched my life with this :)
To be fair to Cleopatra, it was the biggest grossing movie of 1963 and won 4 Oscars, so it was in no way a flop. It was also Mammoth of a movie that caused a liquidity problem that nearly bankrupted fox but was in the end able to make a profit in the end.
Great work Matt! Fun little story, The Graduate was the first film I watched in film school as part of our critic class and watching your video it felt really nostalgic. Well done!
I always assumed Mrs Robinson engineered the affair with Ben because she never wanted him to date Elaine, (as was the wish of her husband and Ben's parents).
Maybe The Graduate is "limited", but I think only as much as choosing any topic could be limited; including more has opportunity costs that I'm not sure would have been either possible or worth it. In 67, it's representative of the "lost and used" liberal graduates to be living off of their wealthy parents, at least in part. Maybe it's not as applicable today due to demographic shifts, but not any less than a foreign film might be. You pretty much cover it, that it's representative of the generation and for film school kids. It also could be that I'm missing out on a counter-example, but I wasn't presented with one from the 60s. It's also a tall order since The graduate was era defining
Fun fact: this episode was supposed to be out *before* the election...

I really dont get why you have 219 views on this video while the quality of it would justify three digits more. Keep up the good work!

Videos are great as always
It’s ironic that Dustin Hoffman’s star-making film is about having an inappropriate, coercive relationship with a much older woman, given...y’know.
I don't know please tell me

This video is great, but the beginning made me somehow more pissed at Disney.
