If you wanna struggle that hard in a game with "realistic aspect of survival" I suggest you to survive some days with Bear Gryll in a jungle, Green Hell fashion.
I fully agree that it would make the game better. I already wondered where the "Hard Survival" option was right after launch. Maybe we can change some of those settings with the dev console? I don't want to restart again but would actually love to have survival matter again.
Dev Commands will change the settings if you use them that way you don't have to start over fresh. I try to stay away from the console commands for now at least.
@@PrimitiveNomad yeah, I choose custom anyway cause I always get overwhelmed with the enemy even on normal, but the harder survival is what I do want. Maybe this playthrough I’ll get farther with the immersion that come with that
And hunger/thirst is scaled to match, meaning you start to get things done in game quicker and your stockpile of food greatly out paces your survival needs

It’s great for looting caves early w/ less mutants spawned in the caves, but man does the enemy aggression drum up slowly, even with highest aggression selected
I max everything in custom except days (long) and i start in spring. Game is more fun but still not that hard once you get the gear. I go through a lot of bone armor so rope and tape are usually in short supply but no shortage of anything else.
I would love to hear you elaborate more on environment settings. 1. How many days is Default Season Length? How many days is Realistic? 2. How many minutes is Default Day Length? How many minutes is Realistic? Would love to see further in depth testing on that not many videos about it.

realistic is exactly what it sounds like the seasons last as long as they do in our calendar year. realistic days are also the same time as a real day the in game days last 24 real hours. default season is 5 days and default day length is 10 minutes of light 8 minutes of night

I have been using a generally easy mode custom game and building a lot to see how much the game can handle a lot buildings / towns. Have built a lot a lot and so far it's running it just fine. I want to do as you say and make a harder custom server but have so much invested in the current and still pushing at it and enjoying it a lot. Called Moonlight Kingdom.
Lucky you, I've built a tower 6x6, really freaking high, can't even count the floors. The game is stuttering and crashing constantly. Playing on GeForce Now ultimate subscription, which means I am using the best rig possible (or at least that's what they say it is), 4k , everything on ultra. This game works by using cells, something like Skyrim. One cell is as long as your zipline can go. As soon as I enter the range of the zipline, and then take a step out of the cell, the game stutters 90% of the time, the other 10% it's a crash. I've rated GeForce Now with 1 star over a hundred times, still no one from Nvidia team responded. It's a very sh*tty service and probably not worth 22$ a month.
Yeah that's a good way to build, I do the same because I still want the cannibals there but want to not have to focus fights. Peaceful mode is too peaceful lol. I love the name of the build too Moonlight Kingdom! Sounds awesome! Eventually play a harder playthrough and take your time through the story its fun.
So if you set days for realistic, how long does a day take, 24 hours? And a season 91 days? I wonder if the amount of daylight also changes with the seasons, the island is probably not located at the equator so winter should also have shorter days. Have you noticed this is in the game?
Nomad will Day Lenged in Realistic set the Day to be Longer as well as night? when i played on default the day seemed too short making it some what frustrating to build do to the shortness of the day. one other question the Single use container if its ON does that mean it's Lootable only the one time? Thank you for sharing... only thing i really dislike when building cant pull out aaa certain Log cuz it's Locked too me that's unrealistic should be able to pull out the Axe if it's set on structural damage...
Yes, day and night, as a cycle will be lengthened. Realistic is extremely long but works well for building in the day. And you can just sleep the night away. Single use container is literally open it once and it can't be opened again.
I know this video is older now but it makes sense to play with realistic. It's really annoying getting in the groove building something and its night time, then the next day you get supplies and it's night time by the time you get back, and so on.. it's nice to just handle your business without worrying about the annoying presence of darkness.
I always do Custom with maximum enemy aggression, but it is still not enough... These delays between the attacks are too big. It's not like you trying to build a base with a constant wandering enemies around, it's a fight - then a big moment of peace before the next attack. I think enemies should always spawn around you in 50-100 meters, they should always move towards your location until they notice you. This will make the game harder.
I agree with this to an extent. In the first title, if you were found, enemies would always push your location, but you could also hide your base if you choose. I do agree that the aggression still needs to be higher, and there needs to be more raids. More enemy variety on raids as well
@@PrimitiveNomad After day 150, game spawns a new kind of Puffies, rushing your base in groups of 4 to 6. These are not the easy puffies we've fought in caves. They are doing some jump and spin attacks, and they can 3 shot kill you while wearing full tech armor. They are incredibly fast, almost to the point you can't dodge them, or you have to keep sprinting to dodge them, and as soon as you're out of stamina, that's it. Ur dead. This is on normal difficulty. They take 10+ hits with Modern Axe, or 5,6 Shotgun hits. I haven't been in a cave for more than 140 days. I have no idea what I'll do if those in caves are as strong as the ones I'm being raided by on the surface.
Sons of the forest should have progressive difficulty like the forest I would say add one cannibal every couple of days until like day 200😂 man I wish I was a developer this would already been straightened out so that people who want minimal challenge can choose normal people that want hard challenge can use custom options
Why does your game look so different with icons showing up? even the inventory looks different? Is this The forest and not sons? or is it a mod you are using?
It was a setting in the first title and depending on how you wanted to play it actually was a good system to have it off sometimes. but I understand what you're saying from a realism perspective

Should mention day length set at realistic means just that… time passes minute by minute just as it does in real life!

I think they should make loot in general dynamic meaning the weapons and other items are never in the same spots

long is the best, days last about 1 hour for daylight and night time included and the seasons are about 15-30 days depending

The days will be 24 hours. So yes, a season will be 91 days. And I do believe the seasons aren't the same length in time.

@@Loshmitebraaa as another note, I think opening all caves/bunkers affects mutant surface spawns and village takeovers… not day progression.
