I also recommend disabling Telemetry in Visual Studio Code if you do not want to send usage analytic data to VS Code: File/Preferences/Settings (macOS: Code/Preferences/Settings), search for telemetry, and set the Telemetry: Telemetry Level setting to off. This will silence all telemetry events from VS Code going forward. THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!! I've been struggling with this for so long, then gave up and tried to go by and learn without autocorrect/IntelliSense, but just I couldn't anymore. The instructions were so clear thank you!
Literally my savior, was searching for so long for a tutorial that wasn’t just like the other unhelpful simple “you have to do this” (something I already tried” 4 second video. Thank you so much!!!
Oh my God thank you so much Samysam! I've been trying to get Intellisense to work for ages now, not to mention VS Code trusting Unity and all this random stuff but thanks a ton! The rest of your videos looks like gems too so I'll have to check them out
Thank you so much. This was so stressful especially for a beginner. If it didn’t work for anyone just go to your files and make sure it’s only the stuff in this video downloaded. Still works - August 2023
I know this video was posted a year ago, but it was super great! I hadn't had intellisense for a while and was just ignoring it but now that it is fixed life is way better! Thank you so much!
thank you sooooooo much! I just started using Unity on my new computer and I didn't know why the intellisense wasn't working! clear, straight to the point, and easy to follow.
Just a note about the bracket colorizer. It is deprecated because it is now included by default as part of the regular functionality of vs code since version 1.60 and as of version 1.67 it is enabled by default.
I stumbled upon this while looking for answers and thank god this was here. I was frantically looking through the Visual Studio settings to find a solution, thank you so much
bro im not gonna lie i was bout to quit unity right after starting a project with friends but your tutorial saved me intellisense works!!! You defo deserve a sub!

For people who their assemblies is not recognized (like typing a class or monobehavior, or syntax colors not showing up), current version of C# in vs code is not working properly. So you may need to install one of previous version (click the arrow near the "uninstall" button in C# extension). Currently I'm running on version v1.23.1, which is 3 years old, and it's working, but I believe there's functional newer version though. C# Dev Kit and Unity extensions are up to date, didn't check for conflicts since it's not my major workstation, but so far no problems.
WOW. I always had trouble following tutorials on how to fix something somewhere. But this video was extremely well made (and fixxed the issue btw). It had a checklist for you to check if you miss on something and works you completely fine through
today was the first day i started programming on a game im designing. this was the first problem. super comprehensive . i was useing the c# extension and the 4.7.1 dev kit. buzzing you uploaded this thank you
mam it is really heplful thanks a lot ive been like trying to learn unity but due to no intellisense I would not write the script but because of u I am going to complete it 🤝🤝
One thing to note is that VS Code has made the colored brackets extension built-in now and no need for the extension. The maker also notes that when you go to add it
Thanks so much for this video I searched RUclips for this over and over But nothing worked Until I just watched your video and it worked Thank you soooo much, you really helped me a lot.... 👍👍👍👍👍👍 I also Subscribed, you deserve it

Thank you for a great guide. The first time i tried to make this work i spent hours, now i just got an new computer and i remembered your guide and you made it work in 3 minutes :D
Thanks! This got me most of the way there. My problem, it turned out, was that VSCode and Unity were installed on different drives. VSCode was on my OS drive but Unity was on a larger-capacity SSD. Uninstalled VSCode and reinstalled it again but on the same drive as unity, restarted unity, and voila, the reload project files button appeared in settings and Intellisense worked.
I also recommend extension like Unity Toolbox or some similiar one, because it also enables Unity Messages in VS Code like in full Visual Studio. It is very helpful especially for beginners (like me) :D
thanks for this, ive been trying to make a 2d turn based tactical on here and when following everyone's guides, they all had intellisense and I had to type everything manually. thumbs up for you
Thank you so much ! It seems the only thing I didn't have was the .NET Framework Developer Pack, now I have a .sln and .csproj file, and can start working more easily !
I can't use the Unity VScode package since it got taken down and I followed all the other steps I am pretty sure so I don't know why intellisense isn't working for me yet. Can someone please help?
Thank you sooo much, I've been trying to figure out why intellisense hasn't been working for ages and the visual studio code editor package was the issue--hopefully this solves the issue long-term and not just till the next time I open up vscode lol, I think it should though this solution makes a lot of sense!
Help! My intelisense is working but somehow monobehaviour methods such Awake, Start, Update, OnTriggerEnter, etc. are highlighted yellow and they don't show in intellisense's suggestion.
Try: -Open C# Project -Make sure in Visual Studio Code the bottom tab your vscode project file is selected, if not click it, select and open up your project file -Make sure Mono behaviour is spelled correctly -Close Unity and VS Code and open again
@@samyam I tried those, and it still doesn’t work. It’s weird because IntelliSense can suggest unity components and their methods but can’t seem to recognize simple void methods like start() and update()

It's nice to have VS Code setup for a "lightweight" secondary editor in Unity projects, but don't rely on Code as a primary editor. Get the full "fatboy" edition of Visual Studio 2022, a complete IDE. You will honestly need it if your Unity game goes anywhere. Start learning and adjusting to it early. Jetbrains Rider is a good alternative if you hate Visual Studio or if you're a Mac/Linux user
Hi Samyam, firstly, I am grateful for the coverage you provide on new Input System. It's great. I am working on an Interactive App which will have stylus support. Have you used any Android Tablet device for development. If so could you recommend one that is not too expensive and at the same time one that offers a decent development experience. Thanks
I did all the steps, it still does not work for me, it only shows what I have typed previously. for example I have written above "public Vector3 offset;" it is able to fill public, Vector3 and offset, but nothing more outside of what is typed already.

Ah ok gotcha, thank you!
if I recall correctly, the builtin bracket colorizer has been optimized too which is nice for larger files / json objects
