Review and Demo of Bogren Digital Jens Bogren Signature Metal Rhythm Impulse Response Pack and Lead + Clean Impulse Response Pack; Tested with Neural DSP Nolly & JST Toneforge Jeff Loomis
In this video, I dive deep into the two Jens Bogren Signature guitar impulse response (IR) packs, which are the Metal Rhythm IR Pack and the Lead + Clean IR Pack. The video includes a full production metal mix that features clean tones, lead tones and rhythm tones; a comparison between the Bogren Digital Metal Rhythm IR Pack and the Joey Sturgis Tones (JST) Conquer All IR Pack v1; and lastly, my review of the Bogren Digital IR packs. The Bogren Digital IRs are used with amp heads from Neural DSP Archetype Nolly and Joey Sturgis Tones Toneforge Jeff Loomis.

Amazing point of view James. Having them both and It's just like you explain it. Bogren fits the mix like glove without processing too much and, on the other hand, JST suit my needs if I'm just playing guitar or bass. Great Video!!

They sure sound really awesome!
Bought both packs, mostly out of curiosity. So far in my own testing they are extremely scooped, compared to what I regularly use, and there's an abundance of super high end frequencies. Mind blown at that top end actually!
Now typically when I see IRs this scooped, it's been due to using some tube power amp with substantial coloration. But I doubt this is the case here. In any case, I'm sure the end result is intentional. Also it'll be interesting to see how the super high end accent translates to my recordings.
And I'm not saying these are "bad" per se. But definitely massively different to what I usually expect from just about any major IR maker I can think of, including what I've shot myself for my use.
It's not just some 80hz cut (for example). Way more.
Great video dude! The Bogren Digital Rhythm Pack is one of my favorite IR packs and a go-to for me. Sounds massive in a mix. I'd also recommend checking out Jeff Dunnes Mesa IR pack. They're super dope aswell. ✌✌

You are better off getting a DAW that can meet your needs. Lots of affordable options nowadays. Studio One Professional is available as rent-to-own for $17 a month for 24 months I believe.
his irs are a little scooped for me, perfect for the black metal , thrash metal and metallica stuff i think
Exactly what I meant by the IRs being on the more "traditional" side. It's the kind of metal subgenres that Jens Bogren is mostly known for!
The Sturgis IR sounds like the old Pod Farm 4X12 Mesa cab. I wonder.... ;)

This sound nice but I just have one complain and is about basically every IR metal video in RUclips. Every single reviewer plays just Metal Core or Grind Core etc. I've been looking a great sounding IR for Power/Heavy Metal and there is not even one review. Everything is Metal Core... 🤦♂️
