I have the Baofeng GM- 5RH, and when I bought it online, it turns out that I got sold a different unit. I was supposed to get the Baofeng AR-5RM. It also did not describe in the description that it was a GMRS radio only. So it means it’s “Locked” And There is not a way to unlock it. I wouldn’t have bought it if I knew it wouldn’t run ham frequencies.

I buy all my radios from Azazon and when it's not exactly what I want I send it Back! I am aware of this type of Baofeng and I am not aware of a work around.

same radios but they do have different specs. We have different frequencies than those in the UK can use. So usually what happens is the factory will make the same radios but the ones they sell in the UK will have a different frequency set than the ones in the USA. A lot of times it's a simple solder job inside to remove or bridge something somewhere on the board to open up the radio to the other frequencies.

oh if you buy a uk radio in the USA sometimes companies won't cover the warranty for some reason. They should but they won't. They call them gray market radios.
