Well, it seems you're a little butt-hurt because of a few things - you don't read magazines, which is YOUR CHOICE - you have the option of no magazines, obviously, you did not read everything when you were signing up. Also, you made one phone call to ask some questions and you got a meanie on the phone, so now you hate the whole organization. From your description of your expectations, you expect the ARRL to win every or nearly every battle with the FCC - are you really that naive? Clubs ARE full of old guys and gals, and if you don't see any young hams where you live, you're simply not looking in the right places. Check out the Boy Scouts - they actually have a radio badge they need to earn. You could volunteer with them to help the youth to learn more about the hobby and get involved, but that sounds like YOU would have to DO SOMETHING - it doesn't sound like you understand that at the core of any large non-profit organization are thousands, tens of thousands of VOLUNTEERS that work tirelessly to SERVE their community, but you seem to want to BE SERVED. Quit whining about it and move on - donate those magazines to the local library - oh wait, that means you have to DO SOMETHING - forget it. By the way, what the heck is a 'tech team'? If you want to start a club, then start it, prove that it is viable and is a service to your community. The ARRL is not interested in "Bobbie's Basement Ham Club" that consists of you, your little brother and your best friend from elementary school hanging out in the basement DOING NOTHING productive in your community and proving to the ARRL that your basement club is worth making it part of the ARRL. You crack me up. Seriously? You take 11 minutes to rant about an organization you don't understand, are not willing to engage and get involved at the local level and expecting them to destroy the FCC and the US Government in every battle, and let your feelings get hurt but a little meanie on the other end if a phone line? Sad to hear your report. I was invited into HAM radio by some really honorable veterans, both WWII (K4OVC) and Vietnam (KC4GOA) era living in SW Florida. They held me to a high standard to include CW proficiency @ 13WPM. My first 10 meter HF contact as a Novice was answered by a station 3.5 miles away. He sent me a QSL card. Field days were events that were extremely well attended because of the elemering, camaraderie, fellowship and the recognition/appreciation it brought forth from the community. Many, many fine, dedicated HAMs in SW Florida. Such a treasure to our beloved hobby. Sadly, too many are now SK. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. And may light perpetual shine upon them.

I would think hams have discovered cell phones. No sense in talking about BULL on repeaters when you can use your iPhone that don’t have so many EARS. Hams are child like on repeaters. My advice is be a man and grow up get a iPhone.

Thanks for doing this video. It's so important to know what is really going on with ham software. I have found that most of it sucks. The only one I think is worth a few bucks a month is Cloudlog out of Germany. LOTW is crap, written in the 90s, too many certs....WAY too much to deal with. I use it but only because I want to update my DXCC occasionally. But ARRL is way too expensive to keep DXCC going anyway. To me, being a league member is a hostage situation so you can update DXCC. There has to be a better way. I also this year dropped the "big three" radio nightmare and went with Elad FDM-DUO (FT8) from Italy and RGO One (CW/SSB) from Bulgaria. Much better way to go.
