- So I saw that the makeup company Eyeko offers a custom or "bespoke" mascara service for your lashes - so I decided we needed to go online, take their quiz, and try out a customized mascara formula of our own! So we got a tube of our own custom formula - for length, definition, and curl with a dash of Korean ~tubing~ technology. What do you think? Are my lashes ~on point~?

Tried the quiz out of curiosity and they seemed to have changed it! Can only choose one answer for each question, meaning it isn't as custom as it was when this video was recorded.
That keeps happening to me each time I take a quiz for one of these custom things. It doesn't aways happen, but it's way too common.

I decided to look now after reading this comment. It was hard to find the quiz, and after taking they very simplified version, it just said the product was out of stock. It didn't even say what it recommended for me. I wonder if they just tried to ditch the whole custom mascara bit.

You should do a video and let Crusty pick your outfits for a week!!! Lay a bunch of clothes out (maybe sorted by tops, pants, accessories, dresses etc.) and whichever item of each type he goes to first you should wear! (You could do it with the makeup too if you're brave!) If this idea is stupid, thats ok too lol Still love ya! Also hi crusty hi ty!

Who has a mascara emergency that allows for 90 minutes? That's so specific. An hour and a half is quite a long time to wait if you are having an emergency. And what constutes a mascara emergency? A date? An Oscar party? Couldn't you just stop at any drug store (even 7-11 has mascara now) on the way to the party?
You could be at work or an event and have forgotten to wear mascara...that's all I can think of. Or maybe you have an event after work and don't have time to run home to do your makeup....idk

Let me fix your problem with hitting yourself with the wand: Hold a mirror below your nose, look down, and coat your lashes that way, and get a smaller brush. These tips changed my life, because I had this problem ALLLLLL the time.

A slight curl to your lashes helps with the spidery lashes and unruliness you deal with! You can also get an eyebrow grooming kit from dollar general and use the little comb it comes with to help comb out curly lashes. This video was super interesting! 💖😘
The part with the ‘you can get a mascara they already sell for cheaper’, does anyone wonder if they did that on purpose? Like, they knew there’d be some people who would dig for a cheaper mascara similar to their quiz mascara, so they decided ‘waste not, want not’ and made their customized mascara easy to swap with another one of theirs? It’d get them more customers, and more likely happier ones who spent less but got what they wanted, or got close.

As a makeup artist I can tell you that really there are only 2 types of mascara: waterproof and nom-waterproof. It’s all about the brushes you use!

The reason we tear up when we cut onions is not the eye exposure, its the nose exposure. You should've held a cut onion to ur nose and just smelled it a bit and then the stream would flow lol. but yeah fun fact for everyone! ALSO LIFE HACK: If you wanna avoid tears and stinging while cutting onions, don't cover ur eyes, cover ur nose and/or just breathe through ur mouth!
that is a half-true, the big reason we cry tho it's because the onion contains a little of sulfur gas, which reacts to the water in your eyes when you cut it, causing the irritation. it probably reacts to the moist inside the nose too, but covering it won't help

I get a more extreme reaction on cutting onion. My eyes end up hurting so much I can't see anything for about 5 min. Any science on that?

Did really no one realise that the "tubing technology: is just the fact that its in a tube (like many korean beauty products) instead of a cylinder. Its to help not waste any product.

Okay so apparently the lash alert mascara I have is the one with caffeine in it and it's supposed to stimulate your eyes and make you look more awake? I don't understand how that works. I think the "customization" part of these Mascaras is that they use one of the formulas they already have and combine it with the brush you prefer. E.g. I read in some of the reviews on the website that they were super happy with the formula but didn't like the brush. So this way you can (hopefully) get both perfectly the way you prefer it. It's just a bit stupid that it's depending on the choices you make in the "quiz" and definitely a bit overprized to have someone pack a tube and a brush that you selected...

MellowJelly Well, it's like being fitted for a bra. Most people wear the wrong size and its a bit difficult to tell from company to company (as well as yourself) what's going to fit you properly in every/most way(s). It is actually quite difficult to find mascaras that work for you and what you want, this site makes it sooo much easier.

Zver Forest i mean, the mascaras did look different. My guess is they have 5 or 6 formulas and give you the one that matches closest. The brush is another thing, choosing your mascara brush can change how it looks. As far as the stickers go, for $4 why would she expect something fancy? In my opinion, that would be the buyers fault expecting something that is too good to be true.

Why? Eyeko makes quality mascaras and she got 2 of them. She wore them all day and put them to the test and frankly it looked great at the end of it all.
You can see both eyes do look different, and they look like what she put in (more seperated, lengthened and defined on the left, more voluminous on the right)
Like the comment above, I assume they have 5 or 6 different formulas, as well as 5 or 6 different wands- and put them together based on what you chose. That's still quite a few different unique options you could come out with- its not like everyone is getting the exact same mascara. If a customer genuinely believed they were getting a handmade mascara thats their fault for having unrealistic expectations.
Same goes for the monogramming. It was 4 bucks. Monogramming means putting initials on something it does not by definition, mean some sort of engraving or embossing. If someone expected more for 4 bucks that's pretty silly.
Overall the product is a bit of a gimmick, and probably unecessary unless you are SUPER particular about your mascara or wand. But it's far from a "scam"
It isn't far from a scam. It's a scam. You're paying a lot of money for what you can already get from them for less. And she expected her tube to be monogrammed. No one's saying it should be engraved in literal fuckin gold. Everyone is expecting just a monogram on THE TUBE. That's it. It's not too much to ask. Something on the damn tube that you can't immediately scratch off. Don't defend this just to be contrarian
Maialeen You cant already get it from them though. Even if the formula is, being able to choose your brush is not- and that may well be worth it to some people. If its not to you, then dont buy it... something being a bit overpriced isn't a "scam" that's like me saying raspberries are a scam.
