  • Moonlight filters down onto the moss covered timber and cobblestone watch-house. Surrounded by slow running waters, it was once a trading post in days gone by. Those who lodge here share stories of a tribe of sprites that used to inhabit the area, natives of the ever-present fog. Some adventurers say they can still be seen moving through the mists, just before sundown.

This sounds like the perfect summer night during my childhood. We lived out in the woods so it was loud as hell frogs and crickets. I can almost feel the humidity and the gentle breeze that would blow through at night. This is so nostalgic and soul soothing.

Same. I still live in the same place and luckily my parents are right down the street. Sometimes when I need to heal my soul I go sit on their front porch at night and feel so much comfort and love. This is the next best thing during a time I can't go to their house. The only thing missing is the lonesome wail of the nearby but still far off train that came through every night. I knew what time it was by the which whistle was coming through.

I was born in Siberia but lived most of my life in Finland, so to me, a person who always lived in the northern regions, these sounds are very exotic, i can clearly sense these sounds comes from regions which are very warm and humid, where all sorts of different life just flourish.

    • @michaeltariga5285
      @michaeltariga5285 2 года назад +34

I'd say the tropics, specially those hit by storms and rain every month, produces these sounds at late afternoon till midnight. Frogs will bellow to attract mates, cicadas will make those shrill sounds, the click of rats/mouse, occasional bat ticks will fly above the air - and of course the buzzing of flies, gnats and definitely mosquitos will fly near you to play their violin next to one's ears, specially if one goes outside for a late night walk.
Thank you for whoever invented the window mesh screen and mosquito coils.

Interesting take. It's true, us Americans (both continents) really take our frogs and crickets for granted. Though when I lived on an island in southern Alaska, it was relatively silent beyond certain birds, so I get how stark the difference is.

This reminds me of 2013 when I went to Senegal to visit my family. We stayed at my aunt's house and this is the sound we heard every night right after dinner. We all sat on rocking chairs and talked until we were too sleepy to hold a conversation. Then my aunt will tap us and tell us to go to bed. We would sleepwalk to our beds. The beds were so comfy because my aunt used 3 different sheets and a comfy blanket. The next morning, we helped my aunt and cousins prepare for the day. We fed the chickens and sheep. Swept the whole house and waited outside for the bread cart to come. We would eat french bread with butter and strong black coffee.
One of the most peaceful summers of my life. I miss Senegal so much.

I just moved from the deep south to Salt Lake City, UT, and one thing I didn't count on was the absence of nightly noisemakers. It wasn't so bad in the wintertime, but now that we're getting into summer, something has felt off. I recently realized that there are no cicadas, crickets or bullfrogs indigenous to this part of the US... so nights here are dead silent. I'm used to nighttime sounding just like this, even in the suburbs. Thanks for this little slice of home.

The sound of the swamps of florida. I was born by the ocean and loved falling asleep to the waves crashing while seagulls would caw and you'd occasionally hear a boat horn. When we moved further south into a real swampy rural part of florida the frogs and rain and cicadas and crickets were so insanely loud to me but it mesmerized me. Laying down in wet grass staring up at a clear starry sky as fireflies whiz around in the air. I love the dualty of the places ive been from crisp ocean breeze to sweet humid air, nature is gorgeous.

I'm currently sitting in my room at 1:06 AM Central Standard Time, and this is what I needed right now. My mind has been nothing but a chaotic battlefield with so much noise and confusion that I couldn't think straight.
I'm an hour into the video and I haven't been able to think this clearly in the past five years. Having grown up in the outdoors I've always sought out my peace and refuge in the woods or the swamps, listening to the music that Mother Nature provides for me when I climb into the branches of an ancient White Oak, or slowly walk through a creek bed, listening to the babbling water running by as I scan the banks for signs of critters passing through the area.
The songs of tree frogs tells me that the rain is coming, and soon I find shelter under a mighty hickory, as the rain makes a beautiful harmony falling through the canopy of leaves over my head, before eventually falling down on my shoulders and hair. A catfish comes to the surface, grabbing a waterbug with a deep resounding "Bloop" as it gulps down its food before disappearing to the bottom of the waters.
It all comes together as the best therapeutic experience I could ever ask for, and I found that experience here again in your ambience video.
I needed this so much I don't have enough words to describe my thanks to you for having this video available to us. I am eternally grateful to you, my friend.
I raise my glass to you. To your health, your future, and may you always find success in your endeavors, and may happiness abound wherever your journeys might lead you.

I'm here to re-connect with nature during winter time. To some these sounds may bring creepy imagination. To me, it feels relaxing. Nothing to worry about. Nothing to run after. Just sit, listen, and feel misty smells of the swamp. The dampness in the air brings freshness into lungs. I can breathe with ease. These sounds are here forever but nature seems to change. Let's stop for a while and live for nature just one more time.

If you want to go to a swampy southern state, I recommend Louisiana. Lafayette specifically. Not only is it full of things to do, but its also close to Avery Island, which is the home of Tobasco hot sauce and has a bunch of cool history and samplings and stuff. There's even a huge swamp you can walk through and, in summer, a whole bunch of the flowers and stuff are blooming and its so pretty. Don't go to New Orleans unless you want to get a glass bottle hit over your head and have all of your stuff stolen (:

    • @ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty
      @ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty 2 года назад +2

Do what the guy above me said but ignore the bad shit he said about New Orleans. He's lying to you. You won't get hit over the head and your stuff stolen. Nola is a beautiful city and you should visit it, especially during Mardi Gras. Also if you want another good bayou to visit besides Lafayette, try Lafourche. Thibodaux is a beautiful town.

Been catsitting alone at my sisters house in the middle of the woods right next to a pond. Tonight's the first night I haven't heard thousands of frogs all at once so I had to resort to this (thank god). Something about frogs and the sound of water just keeps me asleep..I've been an insomniac the majority of my life and this is like aloe on a burn. Thank you.

Nostalgic to those summer nights as a child. My window wide open with the sent of pine and lilac. Falling in and out of sleep trying to stay awake holding the peaceful mist of nature’s music.
    Thank you,

Sounds so much like home in Louisiana.
We may have not had a bayou or river right by the house but we often got rain and you'd still hear a bunch of the rain still drippin after the storm at night.
All these sounds are music to my ears, thank you a bunch, ya make a young Cajun proud ❤

When my insomnia gets bad, nothing puts me to sleep quicker than this video. Thank you for uploading it.
Growing up in the country, I fell asleep to these sounds as a child.
But we moved off years ago, and then I moved to the city for school, and I've never found anything quite as soothing or reminiscent of "Home" than the sound of frogs, crickets, and a creek bubbling nearby.
    Again, thank you.

We had a pond in my backyard that was right under my window...we didn't have more than frogs and sometimes grasshoppers but I LOVE the frog singing at night. Puts me right at ease. Like I can smell fresh cool nighttime air laying by my window and falling asleep to the sound.

    This one is absolutely perfect.
You can feel the warmth and humidity.
    You can smell the soil.
    You can hear the gnats
...aaaand a mosquito bit my shoulder, fuck this.
Jk. Wonderful. Falling asleep to these sounds is extremely helpful in stressful times.

Oh wow , reminds me of a scene in a game called 'World of War Craft". For those that might know the game it looks like Tabitha's cabin . Although her cabin wasn't two storey the surrounding grounds and atmosphere here are very very similar . She too lived in a swamp full of frogs and crocodiles and crickets . In the game I was always getting lost around Tabitha's cabin , the terrain was difficult . This video brings back memories because I have not played that game in many years now . Thanks for the memories.

this comment section is amazing, so nostalgic and friendly. No fighting at all. Wish all walks of life was this friendly. And wonderful sounds! I recently broke up with my “boyfriend” weren’t even really official but had been in a relationship type thing for a year and a half, and i’m so used to waking up and sleeping to the sound of him snoring or breathing. But now i focus on things like this to help me sleep and i have found peace. I’m no longer in pain with our separation, just disappointed in his immaturity :)

I live in the swamp(lands). It's amazing. The way the fog rolls in over the water with all the different moss, trees and fungi make me think about the dinosaurs that used to roam in terrain just like this. Full of life but at a slow pace. Magical and mystical. The sounds of animals and streams. The smell of fetid water and swamp lilies. The busy buzzing of insects and slithering of snakes. Cracking wood and falling leaves. Night jasmine and citronella. The misty grey of clouds above and darkest black of water below reflecting the sky like a mirror. I love these experiences the most living in the swamplands. =)

Lafayette, Louisiana. Near the Vermillion River. Everyday can be magical and mystical here. Of course driving over to Lake Pontchartrain, or New Orleans and even the surrounding swamp areas, really evokes the most primal of images, thoughts and feelings. It can be a very inspiring muse.
