Truly one of the great sandwiches in the world. Super easy to make, Andrew complicates his with lettuce, olive oil, and wrapping. I use Boscoli olive salad, which already has enough olive oil in it. Use plenty of ham, salami, and provolone, and go heavy on the olive salad. No wrapping necessary, but it helps a little. Eat cold or at room temp, I like mine at room temp.
I make mine like yours, Bob, except I use a little Swiss cheese with the provolone. None of that other stuff. I had one in New Orleans that had feta sprinkles.
@@voodoo7008 If the bread is good, the sandwich will be good! But yeah, the original didn't have lettuce, mayo, or any other dressings, just olive salad, meat, and cheese! Just talking about it makes me want to make one!
The only thing wrong with this was that there was too much bread. The inside of the loaf should have been mostly scooped out before filling it. Everything else was great.
I like the wrapping idea....a previous recipe required the sandwich to be baked in the oven for half and hour....I didn't really think it did anything to enhance the taste other then melt the cheese a bit.....I would have torn some of the inner bread out to accommodate the olive mix, I would skip the lettuce....also, for a crowd, I would think a good long loaf of Italian bread would work well.......great sandwich...
I love the Muffuletta sandwich, but I don't agree with the added pickled onions, lettuce and hard salami. Why do these TV chefs always have to add extra things that take away from the dish?
I made a vegan version today. With vegan cheeses and tofurky slices etc. Tried to stay authentic, scooped out the excess bread, cheese layer, meats layer, olive relish on the bread, wrap and trap. No lettuce. Can't wait. What side dishes go with?
What an idiotic video. He described the entire sandwich making process except for how to make the olive relish and that might just be the most important part of a muffuletta sandwich. Without the olive relish, it’s just a meat and cheese sandwich. You can always buy the relish yourself, like from The Central Grocery, but you can buy fully ready made sandwiches from The Central Grocery shipped right to your door too.
This is way too scientific. First of all, I’ve never seen muffuletta with lettuce. The critical part is the olive relish. Otherwise any white French or italian style crusted bread is fine if reasonably thick. I suggest any combination of ham, cheese, and salami. If you have those basic ingredients you will have something delicious.

Eh, I’m sure BOTH your’s AND Andrew’s taste great. So what if he used lettuce. Not a big deal.
If you don't wrap it and compress all the flavors you are missing out.
@@ericryanyawl9401 Agree! When I build 3 or 4, I can't resist eating 1 right away!

No lettuce or pickled onion should be used...and always drizzle olive oil on the top bun. I agree...that bun is too thick...
he's too lazy to do it right
Absolutely right! You gotta gut it!
Some people like the bread left in there . I for one prefer it
I have never seen a Muffuletta scooped out!
According to this thread, no recipe should ever be modified ever. You can still make it traditionally. Stop getting mad that someone makes changes.
Agreed! You see the same comments from naysayers on literally every food video.
Chef, this looks awesome.
Looks delicious
that guys a madman for putting lettuce
So what?! No law against changing things up a bit.
This is the greatest MmmmMuffaletta I have ever seen.
That has to be one of the most out of control sandwiches i've ever seen.
At least he didnt put mayo and mustard on it
Oh I know. God forbid someone make a sandwich differently.
@alexblaze8878 it's obvious you have never been to NOLA OR Louisiana, and you have never had this sandwich OR you wouldn't have said that, lol!!!
My god! That is beautiful. I could eat a muffuletta everyday.
I would have ate the whole thing by myself just like a Bumsted sandwich off of Dagwood and Blondie/if it looks good keep on eating it
Super020469 says: *I would have ate the whole thing by myself like a bum*
How do you make your olive relish? What's in it, other than olives?
Black olives green olives white onion garlic pimento salt olive oil....as much as you want.....that’s how I make it....
@@froghare7516
Okay, thanks!
@@froghare7516 I threw in some chopped roasted red pepper that I had made too.....
so you invented the italian hero - good job

What's the recipe for the Olive salad?
Costco sells a 33oz jar of Muffuletta for like $10.
The poor man's Muffuletta is Safeway $5 Friday Giant American Sub...it's over a foot long, not like Subway.
Yummmm
You rock!
I'm not big on olives or salami but the muffuletta sandwich is absolutely delicious!
I love the Muffuletta sandwich, but I don't agree with the added pickled onions, lettuce and hard salami. Why do these TV chefs always have to add extra things that take away from the dish?
Because they, like just about everyone else in the world, like to change things up to their liking. Good grief, get over it already.
@,Dan Joseph , you make your sandwich the way you want to
Differents strokes for different folks
pretty much wrong
Well, you certainly screwed that up 😣
Oh pray tell? Let me guess. He dared to make it differently right? So what?!
i am going to skip the part of wrapping in plasticwrap , just going to scoff it down fresh
"I know lettuce isn't traditional" says nothing about the pickled onions lmao
WOW!!!
No lettuce, no tomato, no mayo, no mustard , no pickled onions
I always hated them but i ate them cos mu fam loves them
That's nice. Sometimes maybe they can eat what you want.
OH...WOW 😅😅😅

Chips usually
Watch out for pits with commercial olive salads.
He has nice hands 😝
That's not called olive relish. That's called olive salad.
👍
You don't put pickled onions and lettuce on a true New Orleans muffeletta sandwich. Meats, cheese and olive salad only.
Yeah.. he literally said that in the video. He said he just likes it so he puts it on.
Lol. Here we go with the purists forbidding anyone to make their sandwich differently. So what? No one cares.

Nice looking sandwich. Am sure it tastes great. But not a Muffuletta. More "Inspired by Muffuletta".
OK but what's in the relish? Wish he had gone over that
Google is a thing. He shouldn't have to explain everything
It would (being sarcastic) easier to just take a tablespoon of salt and eat that.
It needs some ground up grasshoppers, dung beetles, grubworms and cow bile with some sliced sheep balls.
No onions please
What the hell were you thinking!? Take that lettuce off! It’s not traditional for a reason Mr. Man! Just kidding you can keep it.
Oh so what you Negative Nelly! No one gives a sh*t.

He did too much this is not how a muffaletta is made 😐 dont steal our food if you’re not going to make it right✌🏼
Amen!
Amish deviant with Herpes where are you from?
Chill out girl. He said it wasn't traditional. I'm from New Orleans too, let people make it the way the like it.
Eh fuq off. Always some damn uppity purist that thinks no one should be able to make a sandwich differently. Get a life.
Aaron Z. No they won’t punch you in the face. What are you? Antifa?
