I love that you talk about all your pre-loved diapers. I have nothing but 2nd hand diapers and love them and love reusing diapers that still have lots of time left!
A lot of my stash is bought second hand. I love buying used! Even my wardrobe is used lol. It’s so important to talk about how diapers wear over time since they don’t last forever
Watching your video while putting a mama koala on my baby 🤣 I do admit they are my favorite compared to the other Amazon pocket diapers I bought. They really do seem to fit the best rn The only thing is they don’t have crossover snaps but I guess that wouldn’t matter now cause my baby has a big belly at 3 months
Thank you, this review of MK diapers is exactly what I've been looking for!! I'm currently considering importing some from the US because they (and other brands) seem to be almost sold out here in my country.
How exciting! I'd love to see reviews of how other brands have worn over time too! I'm pregnant with my first and already have my stash (lol) but if I find a good deal on a brand that wears well on the swap pages I might get more! :)
semisweetchild I’ll definitely be going through my stash to share how some diapers have worn over time💖 it’s so important to see what kind of products you’re investing in for the month term
I bought a small used set of bumgenius and a large stash of new momma koala. The bumgenius has shot elastics but i replaced them all and they work great. You should just replace the elastics in your older ones. Its super easy to do by hand!
They do design their diapers to make it easy for an elastic replacement which I appreciate because all elastic might eventually need replaced, especially if you’re using them on multiple babies. So I appreciate that about their diapers. A lot of my BG products have shot pul tho. Such a bummer because those products are not cheap.
Farmhouse fluff are awesome! I hope you can do a review (for others) but I already know that I love them. Love the tummy panel! I Also like Barnyard Bums and Texas Tushies so far, too. MK are ok but I prefer Alvas a little so far.
Thanks for the review! My stash is mostly MK (because of the prints and the price) and I love them! My boy is long and skinny, so I am actually so glad that they are on the smaller side. We are still not the smallest setting... I have some ALVA and we use them but he still has to grow to them at 5 months! Before I started, I was worrying about it but now I'm so glad that the cute prints convinced me ;)
Thid is exciting 🤗 I just know alot of people will appreciate a series on wear over time on cloth diapers. Also hoping for the same series on cloth pads 😀
I feel like mama koala runs big. But I have skinny babies. My daughter's legs had gaps on the tightest setting at 1 year old. And my second daughter who isnt as skinny also has gaps at the leg at 5 months. I love my mama koalas cause they are pretty, but i never get a good fit. Im gettjng ready to sell all them off and switch back to flats and covers. Flats and covers are the only way I get a really good fit around the legs.
We've been using cloth for about a year and a half now. 95% of our stash is Mama Koala. They've been talking about potentially doing tummy panels in the future and I really hope they do it. They are also bring out minky, embroidered, and solid colors. Little Alaskans threw a huge fit because someone suggested tummy panels to Mama Koala claiming that tummy panels are there idea. I wont do business with them because of that.. It just seems petty. I would recommend Texas Tushies.. They seem to be doing a lot of cool things
That’s strange for them to claim that. I haven’t heard about all of that drama lol. A lot of companies use Tummy panels. In my 2018 review I also talked about how I’d love to see MK do a tummy panel. I used to message back and forth with the owner all the time in 2018 and she knows that I had a strong stance on that. It’s been a long time coming for them to redesign their diapers. Hopefully they make them a little bigger too lol. I just got another recommendation for TT, so I’ll definitely look them up 😍 I’m always down for a good pocket diaper. One thing I’ve noticed with smaller shops is that they sell out of their diapers quickly. And I dread preorders 😂 end up regretting them 70% of the time haha
Hi! I don't know where I can leave a review on the mama koala diapers (bought them through amazon before my son was born, but can't write a review because I haven't bought anything last 12 months), so I hope I reach some interested people here. We used the mama koala diapers on our son for 6 months (starting at 2 months old) but now they are all starting to leak one after the other. Some of the diapers are full of cracks, most have a tiny crack but they are also getting too small and just can't take the amount of pee anymore, and we can't stuff them more because they're too small. The liquid just pushes through now he's starting to sit more. We change every 2-3 hours. We just ordered a whole new set of two in one diapers, hoping they will last through the rest of this diaper period and at least 1 other kid. Our son is very big (4,4 kg at birth, now 10kg and 72,5 cm at 8 months old) so he pees a lot. These pocket diapers are not meant for large kids and I read it's not the best diaper system if the parents are also big - appareantly those babies pee a lot. I loved them in the beginning, they are easy, quick to dry on the line and very beautiful. But now we're dissapointed that, even when we stuff them with care (and no rings), don't put them in the dryer but always line-dry taking care of the stretch bands, we can't use them anymore. We tried using a cover on top, but it's just a sturdy pack in between his legs that doesn't seem comfortable so we choose for a more loose type of diaper. I hope this is any help for new parents out there. It is true that you can start diapering them quite young because the diapers are small, which also means that maybe they won't last for the whole diaper period.
Wow! Thats sucks! I hear quality control on Amazon seems to be really terrible these days, prefer to order directly from the manufacturers. The diapers you've got are they 1.0 or the 2.0's? Also what inserts do you use to stuff the MK's? If you're using the inserts they came with I'd ditch them since it's just lots of microfiber on the inside. Use thick natural materials like cotton, hemp, bamboo or a blend of the natural materials.
@@vanessab1352 Hi, they are the old ones - there was no 1.0 or 2.0 at that time. Maybe they got more of these reactions. I was a bit dissapointed that I couldn't find a way to write a review after lots of use. I stuffed them with cut up towels or tetra, which should hold up a lot but the diapers didn't had enough space to put enough inserts in, and there was still the issue of the quick cracking. The liquid also leaked through because at the edges, the top layer on the inside could make contact with his clothes and looking back to this adventure afterwards, there were waaaaaay too many leaks. Almost everyday on the side of the diapers. Now he's 1year 4months and they would have never last 'til now. two in one diapers work very well for us now, and there's a lot of space to put more inserts in when needed. We have no leaks anymore. The preparing after washing up also is easier. And we definately see a difference in PUL quality, we use reused now and they are still leakproof.
I reached out last year to the company but I guess they weren’t interested in a review lol.. not every company likes that I list pros/cons and would rather have people only say nice things 😂 I don’t want to spend $60 on a set because they’re just rebranded Alva diapers. I’ve been loving some of their newer sets tho 🙌🏼 I added the NN BST 2 days ago 💖 so I’m hoping I can find one new in package there.
If it helps... Nora's Nursery are not my favorite. They were my first set of pockets and stitches are coming out after only 3 months of regular use. I also use farmhouse fluff, Alva, Mama Koala, Barnyard Bums, and Texas Tushies all the other brands are great so far except Nora's Nursery. I also have Simple Being they are nice but don't fit my daughter very well... she's very thin.
I’ve lost 40 lbs 😊🙌🏼 it’s taken me over a year to lose it but I’m definitely feeling lighter lol. I’m only shiny tho because I use too much highlighter 😂 I love a good highlight haha
hello i will get delivered on may . do you encourage me to use flour sack towels or bamboo prefold or bamboo charcoal diaper or grovia one ? whats the best please w no leak no inflammatroy ?
I’ve currently got 3 MK diapers I’ve got another 19 on pre order due over the next 3-4 months I love their bamboo/microfibre inserts as they have the snap to size to the rise of the nappy so if you have a front wetter you can put the folded part in the front, I absolutely love to use hemp but my 9 month old is still on the smallest rise so hemp is too big for mama koala. (I’m in the uk my favourite are pocket nappies for the day and overnight a fitted (happy flute hemp nappy with a triple layer bamboo booster) and a close parent or littles and blooms double gusseted wrap)
I’ve heard a lot about close parent! I’ve had a lot of people ask me to try it out. I’ve considered it because soon I won’t have babies in diapers lol. This’ll be my last chance to try em 😂
Jay's Nest they’re lovely and easy to wash you’d think poop straight onto bamboo would be a nightmare but it’s not that bad I only get around 2 hours out of one as we pee for England in this house (heavy wetter) but hopefully when she becomes more into food hopefully she won’t we as much 🤞🤣 wishful thinking 😂
veronica inge ive tried nickis diaper and best bottom trainers and they were awful!! I wanted to try other brands but idk if it’d be worth it, imo. I’m not a huge fan of aios anyways, so maybe I’d do best with like a Grovia or flip trainer lol. Idk. I’d rather just have bigger sized diapers personally. I’d hate to try more trainers and then hate them too 😂

Elastics were very relaxed after a few months. BG is one of the first brands that had PUL cracking, plus if you order brand new from their website then it takes a few months to receive. They been slow on sales lately which has really impacted production.

Yay! I'm early just found your page about a week ago and just posted on your last mama koala review from 2years ago. Mama koala brand has been a popular choice for some of my family members and wanted to start with this brand instead of alvababy
Leila Bacalzo I have a video about sized prefolds with pockets. Let me find it and link it for you. But for how long they last at night will purely be based upon your baby. Your baby is going to pee certain amounts and different times in their life, so it’ll vary. I always went through like 2-5 changes at night depending on my babies age. Once she hit maybe 6months old she went through 2 changes at night. She was a heavy wetter for awhile because the nighttime solution I used back when she was 6m is still the solution I use now that she’s 2 years old lol. 2 hemp flats with hemp boosters. I’m also able to use just a stretchy flat with a booster
Hey you if you like little Alaskans you should try Texas Tushies! I have mk, LA, and Texas Tushies. Honestly I have more TT than LA and slowly detashing all my mk. But I love Texas Tushies!
I actually use flats for night 😊 I don’t use their microfiber insert at all. Microfiber just doesnt work for us personally. I usually do a stretchy flat with a hemp insert for nighttime! Works really well for us 💖
I loaned out my newborn stash and when I get that back I’ll show my stripping process. I like using mighty bubbles. It’s quick and easy. I follow the directions on the back of the package per manufacturer. Some diaper groups suggested that you take the pods and soak diapers in them for hours and for mighty bubbles specifically that’s not the correct procedure. You can do lengthy stripping methods like RLR lol but I’m too lazy for that. I did that for years in my cloth journey but I have a big stash. I’d rather spend $10 and throw some pods in a hot wash instead. Works like a charm!! After you strip you’ll need to tweak your stash. Often times, people struggle with agitation. However, I am no expert and I don’t give out wash routines advice because I admit that I don’t know it all 💕 especially when it comes to other people wash routines. There are so many factors
I love that you talk about all your pre-loved diapers. I have nothing but 2nd hand diapers and love them and love reusing diapers that still have lots of time left!

I usually do a stretchy flat with a hemp insert for nighttime! Works really well for us 💖
@@JaysNest could you recommend a good flat and hemp insert?
Can u do a strip video? Mine keeps smelling like strong detergent, or dog breath . We've been using disposables for 2 weeks now tryna fix them
I loaned out my newborn stash and when I get that back I’ll show my stripping process.
Mama koala is actually thinking of adding tummy panels last I heard.
