The Greatest Showman is a great musical, not really congruent with who PT Barnum was in real life. There's something deeper, though, in this whitewashed version of PT's live, which is poverty, scarcity and fear. He starts out as an urchin coming from a place of lack, and what cements the flaw is his reaction to Jenny Lind singing Never Enough. He connects with that song. There's never enough... there will never be enough. Finally, he's found someone who gets him, who understands that pain. I agree with your interpretation, but when you dig down, he's wanting to run away from that impoverished life as fast as he can, and he runs over his wife and his kids in the process and has to pick up the pieces when everything goes to crap and he gets back to what's really important. You're really hitting home runs with these videos. Don't lose the hat. :)
@@ScriptReaderProLosAngeles Scott actually says A Perfect World is a Clint Eastwood film, not starring Clint Eastwood, which is perfectly correct because he directed it (and also played a part). Excellent video, character flaws and overcoming them is a great way to give depth to a story. John Truby places great emphasis on this technique.
This was insightful

Thanks for your awesome analysis of The Greatest Showman, Jim. We agree with you -- and yes -- on Scott's fedora too!
A Perfect World you first said Client Eastwood, the later said it stared Keven Cosner. Otherwise, good stuff.
Thanks for the correction, James. Glad you enjoyed the video!
