Fly tying is indeed the anglers art! The proportions are masterful. I am hesitant to even say this, but as a fly tier since a boy I'm 63, I started because the flies I bought did not stay together they would come apart from one end or the other. I ask this for practicality's sake. why not use heavier threads to attach the loops and switch to finer denier's for the dressing itself? Is it just for the video's ease? I don't tie commercially just to fish with and my ties are always with super glue and Kevlar or as heavy as available for the under structure or to spin hair. Your video's are superb, but I just had to ask because I have hooked into some large fish and have not had a failure of the hook loop from my shanks. regards Dan Wight.
how durable is the black hackle? i bet counter wrapping it with a small of fine wire would increase the strength; especially after a few fish. Great fly though, I plan you utilizing your recipe in the near future. Thank you.
Really nice fly, I am trying to tie these on tube flies. I suppose I should put a little weight to mimic the weight of the shaft. Right? otherwise the deer hair will make it ride too high. I am asking not telling I am no expert. I have still much to learn. All the best, Sean
Thanks for your kind words. it is a extremely effective fishing fly. and yes for me 8/0 is enough but it is individual what kind of thread you use of course.

Beautiful fly! I'd be afraid to fish it after all that work.
Nice fly! It would have looked nice with some dubbing after you put the eyes in. Purple or black.

Make it look so easy. Maybe it’s the music. I would eat that
Is there any way to get a list of materials used? I love this fly!!

+Phillip Lekanof Hi Phillip The hackle is ok, but as you already say, a small rib can do it god of course.
