The mono loop you see him tying in at 02:00 - you’ll run your mono line through the hook eye and that mono loop at the tail and then through a little tube of plastic (speaker wire sheath). Then you tie on the hook with a non-slip mono loop and pull the mono into the sheath of plastic. This makes this pattern a Tube Fly essentially. The difference is this pattern will always ride with the correct side up. Hope that helps....
