La era del TBHC tuvo las mejores interpretaciones de Alex de todos los temas de los arctic monkeys por la exageración y la teatralidad. I love it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I thought I saw you in the Battleship But it was only a look alike She was nothing but a vision trick Under the warning light She was close Close enough to be your ghost But my chances turned to toast When I asked her if I could call her your name I thought I saw you in the Rusty Hook Huddled up in wicker chair I wandered up for a closer look And kissed whoever was sitting there She was close And she held me very tightly 'Til I asked awfully politely "Please, can I call you her name?" And I elongated my lift home Yeah, I let him go the long way 'round I smelt your scent on the seatbelt And kept my shortcuts to myself I thought I saw you in the Parrot's Beak Messin' with the smoke alarm It was too loud for me to hear her speak And she had a broken arm It was close So close that the walls were wet And she wrote it out in Letraset "No, you can't call me her name" Tell me, where's your hiding place? I'm worried I'll forget your face And I've asked everyone I'm beginning to think I imagined you all along I elongated my lift home Yeah, I let him go the long way 'round I smelt your scent on the seatbelt And kept my shortcuts to myself I saw your sister in the Cornerstone On the phone to the middle man When I saw that she was on her own I thought she might understand That she was close Well, you couldn't get much closer She said, "I'm really not supposed to, but yes You can call me anything you want"
I was just about to say the same thing. I never critique Alex Turner negatively cause he's the bomb but there's definitely a lack of emotional connection here compared to the original. The original gives me chills. This version is more about him showcasing his vocal talent, IMO.
@@moodroulette5884 at its just my theory but i feel like the band as a whole got more like a professional side than friend side feeling whenever performing, starting by Jamie never showing his face when up stage, tons of other musicians added to the band as backup.
he might be mocking himself but it's not really surprising?? i mean alex has grown [you know, throughout the years he got older] and so it wouldn't be weird if he wasn't relating to the things he felt ten years ago [actually, that might be positive lol]. i believe this version hits their new aesthetic beautifully, and it's quite charming to see an older alex singing this to his younger, more insecure self.
that lead guitar going through pretty much the whole song is a little annoying. (or bring the volume down? Or turn off that tremolo effect? Or no one gives a shit about my opinion, but fuck I had to say something. It bothers me yo).
Cornerstone if was released in Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino album
he looks like a pawn shop owner
💀 dead
This version is on another level.
I bet he looks still good on the dance floor

I smelt your scent on the seatbelt
And kept my shortcuts to myself
I saw your sister in the Cornerstone
On the phone to the middle man
When I saw that she was on her own
I thought she might understand
That she was close
Well, you couldn't get much closer
She said, "I'm really not supposed to, but yes
You can call me anything you want"
Uncle Alex
It’s like the uncle that got drunk at a party and started singing 🤣🤣 I love him though

Esta versión tiene algo nostálgico en lo instrumental

Uffff la cornerstone glastonbury 2013 con los violines… otro nivel
Para mí el último "I elongated my lift hooome" es increíble, solo por eso me gusta más q la original aldjakdna

I love Alex and his persona, but sometimes it looks like he is parodying himself, the Humbug Alex sang this with genuine feeling.

Did you see the original music video for cornerstone, major nebula? Could you say Alex wasn't trying to parody himself like 13 years ago?
Best versión of this masterpiece !!!
no the glastonbury one is the best version
i dont care, hes still Alex

can he stop singing like miles kane and sing like old alex
I don't think he's singing like anybody, he's just experimenting and having fun
No. I prefer new Alex’s voice than the old Alex’s voice. The past two albums brought out his best gigs in my opinion as a longtime fan.

Awful cover
Yeah not every song is meant to be sung in a fake baritone jazz lounge singer voice. This sounds terrible sung this way.
