I love this song, always have always will.. so much emotion, albeit a bit cheesy. But putting myself in the “character’s” place in this video listening to the lyrics I think it works. That being said, when he joins his band mates it turns completely sideways. They’re all over acting idiots.. the keyboardist and drummer I just want to slap... Billy is just Billy, an amazing lyricist, musician, and performer

Rock Me Tonite was already getting plenty of airplay in early 1984 before that stupid video hit MTV and the track itself is very strong. It captures the passion of its singer and the performance of a great rock band especially Bobby Chouinard (RIP) on drums. In many respects, MTV ruined rock music so the backlash in the early 1990's started with Seattle/Grunge (the anti-Glam movement) where everyone from Kurt Cobain to Smashing Pumpkins to Pearl Jam often looked like pure hell IN THEIR TWENTIES!
So you have Kurt with Nirvana looking hungover in "Smells Like Teen Spirit" like he had not showered in a week. What did MTV *then* do? They replaced videos with real life series about sex and porn.
Squier who wasn't exactly Cinderella (who should have been given a corporate sponsorship by Cover Girl for how much makeup they wore) still had to wear eyeliner and my reaction was 'what the hell is that?'. This performance is straight no frills rock and roll as it should be.

Always liked this song. I just heard recently about the video that supposedly ruined his career. Never saw the video and I couldn’t care less about it, all I know is Billy is my favorite rocker and should be in the HOF ! Rock on !

Billy NEVER went anywhere. He has been here all the time. Give the man his due guys. His new Album has rave reviews already. I agree...this song is vastly underrated as is Billy. The man oozes charisma and talent. March 8th, I AM getting the new Album. TY Billy!

As a teenager I listen to your records over and over in the 80's thanks for getting me thru the teen years. Still love your music in my senior years.

Man in the late 90’s I build my career with Billy playing in the background in the shop. I went from pushing a broom to being plant supervisor listings to this. What a time in my life.

Hope the neighbors like Billy Squire because it’s a sunny day, all the doors and windows are opened and this is cranked up jamming!

This is a great song that got overshadowed by it's video.
Just noticed that the piano intro sounds a lot like Cold As Ice by Foreigner...

I'm soooo happy to say I finally saw Billy this week and had an unexpected chance to meet him:). I looked this up to watch and figure leave a comment.Thank you Billy for taking the time to meet your fans and taking the time to speak with each of us.I forgot to tell you I never saw anything weird about your original video of this! I never knew there was criticism of it til someone I told I was going to see you mentioned it. I was like, whatever! I thought it was adorable showing your emotions of the song. Ill never forget the first time I saw it. . Just loved it and made me, I'll clarify.. a woman have more of a crush on you! So there critics! Gosh a song makes you move and groove so be it. Pooey on all the critics that don't have compassion on music making you move and groove like you just don't care!On that note, enjoyed seeing you and in a different type of setting with G. E. I was so expecting to hear you play this song...But...Here's to you going out on the road again and playing it like this video. :) Thanks again Billy for touring when I thought I'd never get to see you! Xxoo
