    Another nice vid Bogdan. I have come to appreciate the versatility of prism diagonals - the short light path allows the addition of accessories like filter wheels, and is essential for binoviewing. Prism every time for me now.

    As usual for you, Damian, this is a very good comparison, and I thank you for it. To me, the SvBONY item is slightly less defined in its view. The image of the field with the farm house has a row of uncut rye in the middle ground, at the far end of the cut swath. The Baader view shows more detail in the edge of the standing rye compared to the SvBONY diagonal.

    Thanks for the great review. I bought an SVBony 1.25 mirror diagonal for my 80mm ED, it’s rather nice, no complaints.

    I received my SV223 just two weeks ago. Glad to see, that I made the right choice with it 👍

    I've always been in the prism diagonal camp. My best diagonal is a Baader 1.25" T2/90 degree 32mm prism diagonal, so not the BBHS one, but it's still fantastic. Absolutely love using it. I always stuck with prisms as I have long focal length telescopes and I've heard that prisms are better for longer focal lengths and mirrors better for shorter focal lengths. I don't have 2" eyepieces, but it's nice to know that if I ever do make that move, that the Svbony mirrors are good and great value for the price.

    svbony makes really nice stuff, my first scope was the sv503 70ed and i was extremely impressed with the quality especially since it was a third the cost of other more mainstream scopes.

    What is the "swan 32mm eyepiece "? Do you have a review?

    Sorry, I forgot to ask, what the mount like, it looks like AZ Pronto. I’m after a grab and go set up for casual visual use.

      @steviejd5803 Yes, it's the AZ Pronto mount. Perfect for a grab and go setup.

    I compared both the Baader white diagonal mirror to a Tele Vue Everbrite under high magnification during the daylight. The Baader boasts 1/10 AFTER aluminizing. The Tele Vue Everbrite won. It was slightly more clear than the Baader white diagonal mirror.

      Split the difference. Go for the Svbony diagonal and spend the rest on Baader's Contrast Booster Filter

      @@mihaitaene4644 You don't need much. Svbony's SV215 Zoom would work well with your scope on most objects.

    Does anyone know why a "star diagonal" is called a *STAR* diagonal, and not simply a "diagonal"?

    I was all excited to try out my Baader Prism Diagonal and found it to be essentially the same as a good quality mirror diagonal, but for twice the price. I don't understand the appeal of prisms

    • @JoepsAstronomy
      @JoepsAstronomy 2 дня назад

      The appeal is that the optical path is shorter, so you can still get in focus with certain eyepieces. And additionally they can be configured so that the view is correct, but I agree with your remark on the Baader.

    • @oninoyakamo
      @oninoyakamo 2 дня назад

      @@JoepsAstronomy If that is the appeal of a prism, then they're rather unnecessary for MCT or SCT users.

    • @JoepsAstronomy
      @JoepsAstronomy 2 дня назад

      @@oninoyakamo Yup a 99% mirror will do just fine. Probably a 95 or 96% will be fine as well.

    The Baader destroys the Svbony. The finish of the Baader mirror is much more polished. The Svbony is also stopped down with the safety lip. You would be able to notice easily if you used better eyepieces. But what do I expect from someone who is sponsored by Svbony.

    • @JoepsAstronomy
      @JoepsAstronomy 2 дня назад

      I don't think so. In some cases I found the image with the mirror a bit sharper. That Bogdan is sponsored is clear, but when I see a price of now 600, almost 700 euros for the Baader, I'll keep my money in pocket and get the SVBONY. Baader prices are getting outrageous. Same as their filters: A good ZWO IR block filter is like 35, while the Baader is 65.
