- As someone who has never been too big into long distance running, a half marathon is not going to be easy, especially at 215 pounds. I ran one a few years back just to see if I could finish, but this time I'm looking to step it up a notch and keep it under 1:55.
I'm taking a different approach to training for this by incorporating Fitness Cultures new HEAT Program.
Can this program get me Half Marathon ready?

Been following since early 2017 and I tell you what, this current phase you’re in is so fun to watch. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed every chapter you’ve brought us through, but this one has been awesome! Thanks for the entertainment, Steve!
Love seeing you move into different aspects of training. As I moved into my 40's I found that I needed to pivot and have various outlets of maintaining my physical and mental health. Having specific days geared towards lifting, cardio, stretching and mediation keep me more balanced. Keep these vlogs coming!
Classic Steve Cook vlog. I love it. 🤘🏽
It’s, ESpresso, no EX
Haha!
Long time fan brother!!
Wow. I hate running with a passion, but I would on that scenic road. Well done Steve!
Proud of all you’ve done and accomplished. Keep up the great work.
That spot reducing section of this video is perfect to cross post on RUclips Shorts. Great stuff!
Pretty impressive to be able to run two sub 6 min miles at your size 👍🏾 I agree with what you said about setting up systems. I’m currently trying to do the same.
Steve, check out barefoot shoes! Xero, Vivobarefoot, Lems, Altra, etc. They have wide toe boxes and a zero drop sole which helps your knees, lower back, etc. We weren’t meant to run on those thick Hoka cushions.
Nice to see some different type of training!!
Great video, and phenomenal mindet/approach to your training and content...documenting what you're passionate about and finding the joy in doing so. Necessary attitude for all aspects of life.
Great vlog Steve need more of that 🙌🏻
loving the energy, over the years subbed to this channel theres one thing that stays conistant. Steve Cook is a fcken boss. He been is my subconsious making me a better man im sure.
Would definitely like to to a follow up to your health video you did , to what you did and what worked and what didn’t
So nice to be a part of your life journey.
Much love
loving the videos Mr. Steve!
I was a college football player as well. Since playing I have struggled with my thyroid would be curious how you manage it or where you’ve got help. Been watching you for 9 years have loved the content and your energy.
Not a hate comment but its Espresso not Expresso...otherwise solid video Steve keep killing it!
Awesome video Steve, love it
The scenery is stunning ♥️
For his size, a mile in 5:50 is insane. Damn, he is in great shape.
You have my favorite vids rn I absolutely love these vids I’m basically doing the same thing rn getting ready for a 5K next weekend while also weight training everyday. So these vids are great motivation for me!
Look at altra running shoes. They are natural toe box so will be good for your wide foot and come in cool colors. Paradigm 6 is my fav
Hoy si te vi muy bien, muy recuperado steve, saludos y muchos éxitos¡¡¡
Hope your shoes work out well, I ran a half marathon 2 months ago with 60$ Nikes I had been wearing and training on for the past 3 years so they were very worn down and not that great to begin with, and my entire body paid the price for it
Saucony are fire, use them when I run, I love them
Been following since shoulder Nation, I stilll miss the old music it would get me motivated to train 😊 salute 🫡
I have a wide foot. New Balance 1080 are the only thing that really fit me after buying a lot of different ones (Endorphin Speed, included) and I just wear colorful socks
Steve is the GOAT but distance running requires simple, tried and tested principles. Need to incorporate more easy running to build your aerobic base, dont push too hard/reinvent the wheel. 80/20 easy running vs threshold/speed work, the formula is there. Its not accurate to suggest the HITT sessions build your aerobic base, easy running is how you optimise on your mitochondrial efficiency. Keep it simple & consistent.
Buff Dudes did this 6 min mile thing a while back. You should get together with them and do a vid. It's be pretty awesome to see you guys do a collaboration
besides your great content which is very fun to watch, could you please share with us the hair products you are using? Thanks
Saucony endorphins are my go to for my ironmans and marathons
Love this, thank you so inspiring ❤
Loving the HEAT program so far, loving it even more now it seems like I have an excuse to buy more shoes 😂
You could make your own protein powder pumpkin mix, pumpkin, pumpkin creamer, cinnamon, heat it on the stove top and then add a vanilla protein powder to it that could work 🧐🤔…..
Knowing how hard to go to allow for proper work and recovery. It’s very different at almost 50 vs 35. For me, playing pickup basketball for 2 hours now takes a day to recover. Gym workouts are best at 30-45 minutes 5 days a week vs longer sessions 3 days a week. It’s all understanding how you recover and pushing, but not so hard you blow up.
How old are you?
@@wanderlustofvk7029 I’m not 35, so I must be almost 50, lol!
For safety, always run counter way on public ways.
Just ran a 6:45mi yesterday weighing 227 and can still squat high 400s. We literally evolved to run and should do it more.
Steve cook x nick bare
I was just about to say the same thing. That would be a fun video.
Pls no
Seemed like Steve was kinda throwing some shade at Nick and the “hybrid” training style in the first video of this series. Kinda interested in seeing Steve’s approach to this style training. I’ve learned a lot about running from Nick but I’ve also learned so much about lifting from Steve.
Nah. Nick is great but not without his cheesiness. I can only take so many of his idioms - “Go One More”, “All In, not All Consumed”, “Fart Louder and Prouder” etc.
I can only take so much.
Interesting. So much pushback lol
merci steve super video
You mean with your 200 pairs of shoes, or whatever crazy number, you didn’t already have a pair of running shoes?
😂😂😂
Hahahaha
Hater and obviously you haven’t been a runner and know how much shoes matter
He does he just likes shopping
You gottttaaaa sync up with Fergus Crawley for this series
🐐 the OG
Hey steve do you use FInasteride?
Hoka Mach X is really good. Saucony endorphin speed 2’s are WAYYYY better than 3’s if you can find them. Speed 3’s suck fat ass if you ask me. I hate them. Big clunkers
Great vid
The best shoes don’t look cute. I’ve learned that when I used to run. Performance over style lol
Saucony Speed 3 baby
Watch out for the seed oils in almost every pre-made protein drink.
Just call it hybrid. Not need to try and change the name for clickbait
Did you say expresso or espresso?
Expresso 😂
Hey man! Need a coach? I’m one of the NVDM coaches. We coached Nick Bare for his Ironman!
Thanku for vlog
Hola Steve! 😊
Find that woman who said you’re much bigger than a 10.5 and wanted to size you up at least a size and marry her
It’s espresso not expresso 🙃
Ben has the best pumpkin spice protein
😍
Big ups to thst hairline Steve. Looking sexy
You overdoing it bro , you still wanna have a family no?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16
Espresso! Steve ! Not EXPRESSO ! Por favor guapo …. Sending love . 🫶
Hahaha of course the Target, that’s how it goes in Utah. Love the content, Steve & nice to see you guys finally able to settle in completely with purchasing a home and what not. 🦾🕊️
