    That's so true about the BBC misunderstanding how good an American show is and putting it on late at night. Back in the 90s, the Larry Sanders Show and Seinfeld were broadcast on BBC 2 between 11pm and midnight on Tuesday evenings.

    He may have died before he reached his fifties, but I’m happy to hear he lived the last decade of his life happy, being his authentic self

      Eric Idle in many an interview on the filming of Life Of Brian tells of Chapman holding a free clinic of sorts after filming was done for the day, every afternoon, on the set in Tunisia, for any of the locals and their kids who needed such immediate care. He had traveled from London complete with the essential med supplies and medicines/ointments etc.

      He would tell you he was happy before that too. Life isn’t only about that one thing you build your entire self image on.

    Thank you so much for this. Interviews with Graham are so rare and precious and I've wanted to see this one for ages. He seems so genuine and unpretentious (and a bit more relaxed than in other interviews) and it's just very sad that, after everything he went through, he died so young.

      What did he go through? I've read elsewhere that he was a "troubled soul", what's his story? Poor thing.

  • @525Lines

    Yellowbeard is a good example of an expensive movie full of stars that doesn't quite make it. The best thing are the behind the scene stories.

    • @Alkymick1
      @Alkymick1 Год назад +1

      All respect but you're quite wrong, the only reason it got lukewarm reviews was because Cleese & Idle (who were in it) slated it in the press so after that they couldn't give it the thumbs up. It's been mine & many others favourite comedy for years, Cleese & Idle never made a better film themselves, that's a fact! You'll see now it has a good cult status & is growing all the time

    • @Bonzenmann
      @Bonzenmann Год назад +2

      @@Alkymick1 In my opinion Graham was brilliant as Yellowbeard. He alyways shines in a leading role. But the film has some pretty weak moments.
      Cleeses "A Fish called Wanda" is one of the best comedys I've ever seen. Idle's non-python films where rather dull. Except for "Nuns on the Rrun" wich I also really enjoy.

    • @Alkymick1
      @Alkymick1 Год назад

      @@Bonzenmann I saw both & forgot them immediately, however I wouldn't publicly write them off as bad even though I can't remember laughing at either. Too me, they were representations of both mens fixations; Idle's of Christianity & Cleese's of Michael Palin

      @@Alkymick1 I'll agree about Idle's movies and most of Cleese's minor roles, but Cleese has easily the superior film in "A Fish Called Wanda". "Yellowbeard" was good. The only great thing about it was Chapman's over the top performance.
