I have both of these watches. I wear the w218 as a daily beater. You made your point in the video. If you want greater water resistance and more functions with the bonus of shock resistance buy the G-shock. Both are great values at their price point.
I think the 218 it's a superb watch. I've also have a 5600 but I prefere to wear my 218. Why? Simplicity of use, easier buttons to press, very clear and strong alarm and more easy to read. It's not g shock it's true but the mine it's still quite new and if one day I'll crack it... Well i'll buy it again and again and again...
I bought the W218 with both positive and negative display and customised them both with NATO straps and bull bars. Ironically, they ended up costing me more than the GW-M5610U G-Shock I bought on sale a few months later - and I don't even wear them. Don't be like me is the lesson there.
Considering its target market and affordability, 50m WR is perfectly fine for the W218. Upping this to 100m WR and adding a timer feature plus a wider lug width would put it in a different price class, in which case opting for the GW5600 would be a no-brainer.
I think the 18 mm lug width is by design for structural integrity as the case is resin and not hard plastic or metal. So the pins don't break out of the lugs
The 218, as mentioned below has more than adequate water resistance for most everyday uses. Swimming? No problem. Any number of youtubers have shown these budget Casios to be incredibly resilient and able to take quite a beating, almost rivaling a G Shock in some tests. The real reason to buy a 218 is because it is CHEAP. I mean a $15 watch with a decent backlight, basic features good shock and water resistance? A no brainer. You can't touch a G Shock square for much less than $50-the basic model. So more than three 218s. If you had kids and a number of them for what you would spend on one G Shock you could be them all 218s, lol! Is the G Shock superior? Of course, tougher suspension and housing, 200 M water resistance, a couple but NOT a lot more features?
Yes the 18mm G10 is very comfortable if thin, thick won’t fit ) I have the black, green, grey and blue all on those colours G10 straps.. better than the plastic strap.. thanks for posting
Somehow this watch is too good. It’s good price and bests out other non G Shock watches and in a way is a like a G Shock. This is the bridge between the norm and G Shock.
Hi how do you feel about the army green one with the nato velcro band??? Do you own it and what do you feel about it? Thank you This is the model Watch W218hb-3av
In my opinion the W218h is better. Lightweight, sporty, classic design, nice display (legible from all angles), perfect size. And you can collect it in different colors 😊
Yeah ive got both and like em both but the display is just a bit larger on the 217, but not a game changer the 218 is still a favorite of mine for its case design the 218 is a great watch for the money
@@yambo59 it’s pretty interesting! I was looking around at pictures later that day and noticed it clearly once you pointed it out. I would have thought that, from a cost cutting perspective (as well as the naming convention), they were the same module in different cases, aimed at different styles/market segments. I don’t know why they made them different, but it’s a fun little detail, which seems to go against the trend of streamlining as much as possible in modern manufacturing/design, and I appreciate it haha
I swam to shore for an hour in this watch, jumping off the boat drunk. We both showed impressive water resistance.

Absolutely. I don't think one can actually do a straight comparison but for practicality and daily wear, the W218 slays.
I also have both and like each one. I like that the 218 has slightly larger dimensions and the display is so clear and easy to read. Thanks

i agree with every point you made,
@@0scartheCatI agree with him, too. If I’m going to swim deeper than 150 feet, I will take off my 218.
Yes it's affordable but it's not always in stock here in India
I agree 💯%! I prefer my W218h over my 5610u.

The casioak mini would be another great choice for our small wrists. I have the casioak standar and wear quite big on my 6 inch wrist
The casioaks is going to be another classic...haven't seen mini yet
With my crappy old eyes i prefer the larger font on the W-218h over the smaller G Shock display. Thanks for the video.
I would get the DW5600E if the top left button was easier to press.. it hurts my finger.
Yeah...I guess it's designed that way to prevent accidental pressing
I use my fingernail to press it...
@@mantravels8830 that was a deal breaker for me
@@SlavaVB yeah my son also has the 5600 and has a hard time with that button
Exactly why the W-218H is better
I would go for the square G-Shock if it wasn't so thick. For now, I have to settle with W218.
I don't think you're settling.. great watch at a phenomenal price.. more practical too
Do you mean the GShock or the W218 is more practical?@@codykeegan1848
How do you compare it with 219 avdf?

Is there anyway to mod the w218 to add count down timer like how you can mod the w800 to add count down timer
Not sure
The W8000 from Walmart is less than $22 and is 100m WR.
A great watch. Put some bull bars on it, to beef it up. Great review.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Hi how do you feel about the army green one with the nato velcro band??? Do you own it and what do you feel about it? Thank you
This is the model Watch W218hb-3av
I did own it I thought it was just an okay watch
Funny how the less expensive 218 has a larger time display than the fifty dollar G shock..just sayin.
I'm going to order one from Walmart
Which is better ? W217 or w218?
In my opinion the W218h is better. Lightweight, sporty, classic design, nice display (legible from all angles), perfect size. And you can collect it in different colors 😊
This W-218h has a small dial . I prefer the WS-1400H , more attractive , more legible and cheap .
if you dont swim deeper than 50 meters, you dont need 100 meter water resist
the 5600 has too short a strap the W218H has a longer strap
and those 5600 buttons are too hard to press, very annoying
my second favorite watch is the SGW100
That is a nice one...my buddy has one...he has owned it for years
217H has even bigger digits
Wait really? I always thought the w217h and w218h had the same module? I’m intrigued

Since I have a smaller wrist, I choose the W217. I think the W218 is unnecessarily too big.
The w217 is in that sweet spot for smaller wrists…not too large like the 218 and not too small like the f91
Dont cry, its just 2mm
Can i shower or wash the car with it without it drowning?
I used to shower with one of my old watches and I think the steam can get in there and screwed up my watch
For a 50m water resistant watch, it says hand washing and rain is okay as well as water related work
Steam can fuck up don't take a shower with this watch
Lug width van Beethoven!
Casio W-218 просто замечательные часы и несмотря на то что 5600 превосходит по многим фунциям я выбираю w-218☝️☝️☝️
