seems to have a clear assertive monotone voice, also windows 10 is out now and that right click thing isn't setup for me, that being said I use an old 7-zip that I just leave its folder on my desktop. so its way different certain things don't work certain ways but there usually is a work around. Point is it works and I liked it with the right click in the older OS, but now I just don't bother with the easy to use I will stick to what I think will stay to the next OS

It keeps saying I need to choose one or more folders and I tried selecting all, and some more stuff and it will not allow me to extract.

If you're having issues or confused about something with 7-zip, 7z is about 1/3rd of what WinRAR is. Just go to Google, search: "WinRAR cnet" and download it from there. There are 4 or 5 sites that will try to trick you into downloading malware so just use the trusted cnet download.
B Nomrah I have had dozens of instances where users I support, and I have seen myself, software downloaded from cnet that has malware. I personally do not consider cnet a trusted site to download from.

There was no mention of passwords when I went to download them or on the thread from which I found them. This project is due in two days and I need to know how to extract 7Z and RAR files without having a password. I've lost so much damn sleep over this so please, someone help me.
Thanks good stuff. However, I think, listen and swivel my eye balls a lot slower when I am learning. It's very good but a bit slower would save having to keep going back.

Bottom pane is your file browser - top pane are the tools ( + extract test etc ) 3. + add files from your browser ( hold down the control button to select multi files) 4. default - saved to same location where files are from ( you can change output directory ) 5.archive "zip" most common 7z for 7z - best to use zip 6. compression level - ultra slowest but highest compression. 7. compression -' deflate ' is 7zip default - 8. number of threads your computer can handle will auto appear. more threads the faster 9. split to volume depending if you want to e-mail zip, save to CD, DVD etc 10. encryption - add password if you want ***encryption method - zip crypt all can use AES- new after windows 7 - use zip crypt for built in win 7 extractor 11. extract - by default wants to save to same place where it was accessed. you can changed, 12. important test for errors - after complete - open you can see zip folder & files, test does not extract just test, shows if there are errors., 13. 'built-in bench mark " under tools - benchmark auto run benchmark to check 14 . EXTRACT _ right click for options - watch video starting around 13 minutes - extract to 'rgview' see all folders without extracting them all. thanks again.
Be Carful with this advice 7-Zip hompage will send you to Sourceforge who apparently used to have a good 'rep' but times have changed,I noticed that he didn't even mention Sourceforge even though if you look to bottom left of screen when he's downloading your see their logo, but don't just take my word check Windows Club and ghacks for confirmation,I'm just an average user and I hate seeing people being taken for idiots !

David Murray Hi Dave, It's only just over 4 years ago that I got a pc and I'd never been on the internet before so I know what you mean with the Fred Flintstone analogy and now four later I'm a really thick Barney Rubble anyway I've downloaded 7zip via Sourceforge where I pressed a direct link button (although I doubt if the direct link button made a difference), then installed 7zip and straight after I used a programe that I got about a year ago called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (do some research on it if your a basic home user the free version should be enough, I don't know if they take info) and the scan came back clean but i'll do another scan in a couple of days just in case but remember a whole industry has grown on the internet by trying to scare us with jargon like viruses,quarantine,and immunization, it's not smallpox ! well The only other advice I can think of is when you see the word ''Free'' it most often means you don't pay in financial terms but you could pay in info terms ! this feels like a virus sometimes when it askes me to restart my computer u can tell something might go wrong

Don't use CNet.
I've never had an issue with CNet after having downloaded WinRAR a dozen times on multiple PCs. Make sure you didn't get the virus elsewhere.

MrLinuxInfo It's a few months later and I don't even use WinRAR anymore. switched to Bandizip.
