Using Bread as Chicken Treat in Any Season ( Soaked Bread or Without Soaking ), Gives Good Results. But We Must Have Proper Knowledge, How to Use Bread For Chickens. Always Use Fresh Bread ( Not Old More than 24 Hours ), Ensure there's no Fungus Growth upon Bread.
Bread is One of the Cheapest Sources of Carbohydrates, Energy, Protein, Fibers and Other Vital Nutrients for Chickens. It Not Only Helps to Strengthen your Chickens Digestive Health but Also Improves Chicken Egg Shell Quality.
Don't Let Adult Chickens to Eat Bread For More Than 15 Minutes Per Day and Just 05 Minutes For Chicks. As Excess of Bread May Cause Mycotoxins and Other Related Health Issues in Chickens.
Bread Can be Use For Growth of Chickens and It also Reduces Feed Cost For Backyard Chickens.
Remember, These Precautions are Important to Follow So, Problems Like Chocking, Crop Impaction, Digestive Issues can be Avoided in Chickens.
The Chicken's Crop is located beneath the Neck and just to the right of Centre of Breast area. When Chickens eat, the food Goes directly into the Crop which will become engorged until the food continues to the Digestive System.
The Process of Fully Emptying the Crop can Take Several Hours, and generally happens overnight, depending upon the amount of food ingested.
Each evening Your Chicken's crop will be full and bleated, each Morning the Crop should be empty, if this is not the case than there's some Problem.
Sour Crop is caused when the Crop does not fully Empty. This may cause the Contents to become Fermented, resulting in a Bacterial / Yeast Infection within the Crop.
Long Grasses, Plant Fibers, Excessive amount of Bread, Moldy Feed, inadequate amounts of Grit, Plastic, Rubber Band or other Indigestible Substances are the Major causes of Sour Crop in Chickens.
To Prevent Sour Crop limit Your Chickens to access long or Tough plant Fibers or Cut them. Provide Adequate Fresh Water containing Apple Cider vinegar, Garlic, Yogurt ( Poultry Probiotics ), Grit & Clean the Area.
Extended Squishy Crop, Sour Smell, Foul Smelling liquid, Lethargy, Self isolation & Vomiting are the Main Symptoms of Sour Crop in Chickens.
A hard Crop can Signal Impacted Crop caused by large items in the Crop that can't pass through the Digestive System. Impacted Crop can be treated by Lubricating the Crop / Digestive System with Vegetable Oil in an Eyedropper through the Mouth and Massaging the Crop to Try and break up the Blockage, or in extreme cases actually slitting the crop open with a Scalpel and Removing the Blockage.
An Impacted Crop can actually Press against the Windpipe of the Chicken and Suffocate the Hen.
For Better Health, Chickens need Energy, Protein, Essential Amino Acids, Minerals, Vitamins and other Vital Nutrients. It's always important to accurately know your Flock Density and Age. So that, you can Feed them Accordingly.
In case of Acidity, Crop issues and indigestion, use Gestofill Syrup @ 02 Teaspoons per Litre for 08 Hours Daily and for 04 Consecutive Days or 05 Gestofill Tablets per Litre DW.
