- The Maria Edgeworth Centre and 1840 Schoolhouse in Edgeworthstown. A lovely place to spend a few hours for the young and old. The schoolhouse contains original exhibits dating back to 1802. It is one of the oldest schoolhouses in Ireland and the British Isles built on the principles of Maria Edgeworth and her father Richard Lovell Edgeworth.
