- Gimnazija Kranj Great Christmas Concert 2015 - Slavic Night. Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra performed Russian Medely of famous songs and tunes with briliant Marjan Peternel arrangement.
Concert was sold out in record time of two days (1500 seats, Gallus Hall, Cankarjev dom, Slovenia). Our kids played stunningly and set a new standard of playing and performing. This is first real film based russian music medely. I like how they finished off the medley with the "Rokeach Gefelte Fish" jingle. For over 60 years that tune has been echoing in my head.

Там ещё одна часть между Катюшей и Калинкой, исполненная на скрипке и арфе. Мне кажется, что она чем-то похожа на "Что тебе снится, крейсер Аврора", но я не уверен.

@@MarcoSanchez.BajoTierraYPaso Kazachok is an ukrainian and russian popular dance. The song played is known in Russia as "Katiusha". This song was popularized in western countries by some singers with the name of "Kazachok", but in reality it has not a lot to do with this dance.
I consider that the orchestra of 2010 was far better than this new one. Of course, these new musicians have talents and are inspired. But even this conductor, yesterday genius, seems today a little aside his podium. Matjaz Bogataj was the perfect example of a very great and modest violinist. We regret him. His sister was also a dream. And so important other musicians who really play then together to produce a so rich sound. I am not sure that this 2015 orchestra or the one of 2022 would reach the same result with Sheherazade. There the orchestra was luminous. A great moment in the classical music. But.. good luck for your future. For the orchestra and the conductor !
