I have the LE and I got a dead pixel. Valve sent me a replacement a day ago and it was worse. It has three dead pixels on screen now. I updated the original ticket and am now waiting for a response. I'm not sure if I should close the old one and start a new support ticket, or just keep updating the old one that is still open. My thinking is that a new one would get them to notice faster than an update to an old ticket. EDIT: both LE units I received have BOE displays.
@@markratner4445 LE is Limited Edition. It's a common acronym and it saves time typing it all out. Same with BOE. It's the company that manufactures the OLED screen. If you don't know, just ask or look it up. Don't need to be a prick about it.
I noticed a pixel that is stuck green. For my deck it's only noticeable when the screen is at the lowest brightness or if that area of the screen is exposed to grey or black colours
oh no! where are they located? do you think you're going to file for an RMA so that you can get a new one? Also, do you know if you display is a Samsung panel or one from BOE?
@@KikoBG12 have you tried contacting steam? I bought another steam deck second hand on eBay and it had apu issues it was crashing constantly and valve still did rma for me even though I wasn't the original buyer , valve has the best customer support I am sure they will help you out if you wish to have the screen replaced
most people right now are worried about dead pixels after taking it out of the box (so from the factory). but yes, they can die or become stuck over time. that will depend on you. if you're bothered enough by the dead pixels then yes, it is a reason to RMA (as long as you have a warranty) if they don't come dead/stuck from the factory then they develop over time from having the same color/image being displayed on the screen. if an OLED pixel is display green (for example) then if it never has a chance to display any other color it could be stuck on green. . .or you could wear out the green LED so much that it dies and again, if it's enough to bother you (which it would bother me) then it's time to RMA the Steam Deck
Question of the Day: Did your Steam Deck come with a dead or stuck pixel right out of the box?
I got the 512GB OLED Steam Deck and it has a Samsung display that does not have any dead pixels (at least as of right now)

Can dead or stuck pixels appear after some time of usage? Is it a reason for an RMA? How do they develop?

I wouldn’t do this, if you didn’t notice a dead pixel before you won’t be able to unsee it
