- Nathan Lane as the Cowardly Lion in an on-stage concert/adaptation of L.F Baum's 'Wizard of Oz'. The concert was held at the Licoln Center and also starred Jewel, Joel Grey, Jackson Browne, Roger Daltry, Natalie Cole and others. Was originally broadcast on TBS in 1995.
I DO NOT OWN THE CLIP! No infringment intended!
"Not queen, not duke, not prince... or the artist formerly known as Prince." LOL!
(Speaking of which, may *he* [Prince, I mean] rest in peace.)
i are you
That line about Rogers Nelson was ad-libbed by Nathan during rehearsal and they kept it in. I saw the behind the scenes vignettes.
The longer Nathan sings the more I picture Timon!
What have they got, that I ain't got?
Courage!
You can say that again.
That entire dialogue always makes me lose it.
Nathan Lane is my favorite actor and my #1 comedic influence.
Nathan Lane should totally play the Cowardly Lion next time the Wizard of Oz is on Broadway.
And definitely include the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince" reference again!
I would pay god money to see that!
I keep imagining Timon singing this! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!
Deleted scene from the original movie?
@@MrPjw5 That'd be funny. XD
*Yeah that’ll be hilarious if Timon sang an operatic song about being a king in Pride Lands😂*
Happy birthday, Nathan Lane. May you be King of the Forest.
Not queen, not duke, not prince.
or the artist formerly known as Prince
King of Pride Lands😂😂😂
That shaky thing he does with his voice, not the vibrato, but the one that sounds like he's on a vibrating bed...? That takes EXCELLENT breath control. Well done, Nathan!
"Ev'ry Un-der-LI-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-ING"
He is channeling the original actor in that role, Bert Lahr.
@@DragonMama-yt3zs You think Dragon Breath Mama? E. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen knew Bert Lahr from Broadway and wrote his music accordingly.
"Not Queen, Not Duke, Not Prince! Or the artist formally known as Prince" lmaol
What Timon doing in a lion suit?
This is one of the roles I think he is born for. I always thought he would be perfect for the lion way back b4 he did this, and there you go. He makes a dragging song come to life! Amazing!
Correct spelling is DALTREY, and you know it, Titaniacy! Correct the error please!
they need to make another remake of The Wizard of Oz with Nathan Lane as the lion
If you can’t get Bert Lahr, there’s only one other perfect choice for this role
Maybe John tobin?!$
*Timon singing to Simba and Pumbaa about himself being King of the Pride Lands😂❤*
If they remake the Judy version, I vote for Nathan to play the Lion.
If Timon takes over as king, no being queen for Nala either!
Lol, I just imagined Timon the meerkat singing this. Thanks for popping it in my head.
Remember Timon This is Him Now. Feel Old?
Thanx for posting - had the audio for years but have never seen it !!!
Oh I wish he was the lion!
♡ U Nathane Lane!
+Trey Taylor I doubt it.
I thought they were kidding when they said that Nathan Lane was a fantastic performer.... They weren't. This was arguably better than the original performance of the song. His voice is very unique!
does anyone know where I can find this production on DVD ???
I have a copy! It's seven years later but you still might be interested :)
@@amynickell7487 an original copy ?? What are you asking ?
@@delawaresanta My mistake... it's on tape, and since we got our VCR restored recently I think I'll keep it. So sorry :(
@@amynickell7487 is all good - I got a copy
@@delawaresanta So, so funny that you answered at all:)
Speaking of Oz and Lave.
Nathan Lane as the Wizard in Wicked ?
That would surprise me if he did so
@WillScarlet16 Yeah. "Timon" is apparently taking over Simba's kingdom.
if anyone understands this statement, The wizard of Oz in Concert really took the music from the original and put it right in it's PLACE!!!!!!!!!
Very nice, but also funny, considering his Lion King role, Timon, is also kind of a coward.
Nathan put a lot of physicality in the role, especially at the part where the lion faints.
The REAL Lion King, ladies and gentlemen.
Lane sounded like his characters Preed from "Titan A.E." at 0:33 and Spot from "Teacher's Pet" at 1:02
I haven't seen this since it first aired on TV and it randomly popped into my head!!! Thank you for uploading this bc I thought I was imagining shit 😂😂
Oh my god, this is too good!!
@XsaviorofthebrokenX i don't think so... it's kinda like laughing in key... it's pretty easy actually :) but, yes, well done to him, anyway :)
He did this in rehearsal and no one saw it coming. They broke up
“Hakuna Mutata!”
@SnugglySara I clicked "Like" right after he said that line...
Or the artist formally known as Prince. A winner every time 😅 Other than that, if only Simba can see you now Timon
I thought this was the best performance of this song, EVER, then he butchered the last note, now he's number 4 on the list
Jontron
Move over Simba.
EAT YOUR HEART OUT SIMBA
everything the light touches...
BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE!
I have a feeling none of the others on stage could keep a straight face, I know I wouldn't be able to do so.
😆 I love the wizard of oz
@PeterPanDisneyDork I tried it once, and I had a hard time of it. But maybe that's just me, I have horrible breath control. Have you done it before?
0:32 OR THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRINCE!
@wickedlyaddams me too!! i have no clue where it is, though! :(
I just died of awe. XD
don't worry, I do too.
holy shit thats roger daltry
Uh, no that's Roger DALTREY. The most beautiful man in the world.
I am preparing for my role of lion! Please wish me luck
@XsaviorofthebrokenX i think i did... it sounded pretty much like what he did, so i assume i was doing it right...
Roger is a better tin man
He's so beautiful! Outside and inside.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEE i luff him.
@WillScarlet16 XD Ya got that right!!!!
Uh oh. Hottentots. Racism! Mary Poppins = Racist. Wizard of Oz = Racist. Welcome to 2024. Let’s Go Brandon.
Wow Nathan Lane has played a cat 2 times in a row
You're including Snowbell from the _Stuart Little_ movies, right?
Funny how he star in The Lion king
Suppose it was a giraffe.
Wack
Nathan Lane is a homosexual. Did y'all know that ?
