S&G did not suddenly rediscover it and make it popular again. They just introduced it to a new audience.
Tbf most of us are only on youtube because of convenience sake, otherwise this platform is just not content creator friendly enough to keep posting videos here. If people started to use more other platforms and less youtube, that could be a wake up call for the higher ups to improve the site. But again, yt is just too conveniente for any of us to change.
