j sai deepak made it crystal clear regarding the technical legalities of the act and the rationale behind the minority judgement of justice chandrachud.
Wonderful analysis by an excellent panel. RSTV... can you consider increasing the time of Big Picture to one hour please?? Most of the time, the charming anchor has to cut short engaging discussions half way through to abide the clock. And as far as J Sai Deepak is concerned, he is an excellent professional who represents Modern Indian Youth. He is competent, knows his job and never politically inclined to anybody. Cheers Deepak !!! Keep up the show
I certainly agree with you, keeping the constraints of time in mind, many good points have to be cut short, I would love to see this show go for an hour.
Great debate👍 All the points that have been raised, must be taken into account, specially the implementation hurdles.. And i m the fan of Frank's smile
Beautiful debate.....👌 nikhil.deys point should be looked into which is the ground reality which the Urban english speaking netizens are oblivious of......
Dear Sir, ur absolutely true and these are very genius concerns. However, Nikhil Dey sir must have accepted that the system of Aadhar is good step in right direction which wasnt present since independence but the implementation needs to improve. Its the question of 60 covered earlier or 10 left out now. (Just a note sir: I came from low middle class drought ridden marathi farmer's family. We have survived on ration for many many years. Just that, I refused to accept this as an excuse for my progress)
Very nice debate and it was a call of the society as ambiguity on this issue was prevailing since a long time. But i fully agree with Dey Sir because when any public welfare scheme comes into mass , reflects a very different picture as soon as it comes to the ground. One more thing, we always expect ....Satya Sir when any legal matter comes to the RS TV. Well discussed by all panelist and lots of grey area and clouds of confusions have been removed now. Thanx 2 RSTV and "indeed" Frank Pereira Sir.
superb debate... every panelist had their own view... pk malhotra truly said that this verdict is on the legality of aadhar not on the implementation of aadhar... bt its also true that the ground reality is too worse... one of the best debate i have ever seen
I fully agree with Nikhil Dey. My grandmother can't walk and her pension is also stopped just because she don't have Adhaar Card is violated their rights to get their money. Also in my vicinity Ration card holders also faces the same problems sometime machines are not working and sometimes finger print don't match. What's the alternative for these destitutes?
You can enroll for aadhar without biometric, aadhar provide this facility. I had worked 10 month in UIDAI. For mor information you can call 1947 (uidai helpline number) ,www. Uidai.gov.in,help@uidai.gov.in and go PEC and consult with supervisor..it will definitely work because many cinior citizens and physically handicapped citizens has aadhar without biometric.
Yaah agree, but there are many till now who's children were collecting their pensions and not transferring it. In many cases , the deliveries were shown in registers. This is where corruption thrived and Aadhaar came to rescue. Problem is in implementing it well, by better connectivity, offline technology, and provision for those who can't reach the distribution centre or can't deal with the banking.
These are the implementational challenges which we really need to look into. But, the question is :- Is this argument sufficient enough to declare entire act of Aadhaar unconstitutional?
We need more people like Nikhil Dey who brings geniune implementational lacunae. We certainly need to address these issues but not at the cost of declaring the whole act itself as unconstitutional.
Frank doing a stellar job as always! The balance in this discussion is phenomenal- financial implications (shell companies point was compelling), on ground realities (localized biometrics point was great), the issues of Aadhar being passed as a money bill (only Justice Chandrachud addressed this!)- they've covered everything and more so beautifully. Especially appreciate the respect panelists have for each other's opinions on this show, they disagree (lots of head shaking from Mr Nikhil haha) and agree on different points, but maintain focus on the central issue so professionally. Wish all news debates were this easy on the ears lol. We would do well to follow Mr. Deepak's career, he's definitely going places. Love how honest he was about not having studied the judgement fully, but still so many amazing points!
A very good and balanced debate. Very valid questions raised by Nikhil Dey even if it is a small percentage of people who are excluded but that exclusion impacts significantly on their livelihood. The executive policy followed by this verdict must address the pertaining issues at ground reality. Sai Deepak was awesome as usual. Thanks Rajya Sabha Tv
Very good points put forth by the panelists. We need this quality of debate in our legislatures if we want a balanced and well structured policies from the start.
Nikhil Dey feels hard done by, doesn't he?! Ground reality is a whole lot different for the lower class wherein proper infrastructure hasn't been properly implemented. Alternative to Aadhaar is what he proposes while the points made by other panelists are some of the best you'd hear from anyone. Great debate!
I’m surprised with the few apprehensions.... 1)”justice delayed is justice denied “ phrase is satisfied here because of the judicial inactivism in the matter of Aadhar during the 2012-13 when the massive implementation of the project has taken place even when the ball is in court. 2) How far is it correct to proceed with underlying cause just because of spending huge amount of resources and infrastructure the judiciary has bent to the decision to go ahead with the larger public good ? For god’s sake where is the so called due process of law ( fair, reasonable and just legislation) 3) The future implications of bypassing the rajyasabha and misusing of Art110 (g) by the ruling majority in Loksabha ? 4) Future of the data which is collected and exploited by the corporates of the day? ..... by a UPSC aspirant
I think the decision was overpowered by the fact that people are now too involved in the scheme and it would cause tremendous chaos to struck it down altogether. But by doing so, justice to all is upto some extent diluted. Not all the prospects are completely addressed. Again its just what i feel fellow aspirant.
We cannot forget the ground Reality That are mentioned by Nikhil Dave social activist because of the mandatory of Aadhar Card people all over the India they are not in less number avoiding by the government official to take benefits of public programs
Very good discussion On Aadhaar My suggestion on aadhaar implementing government should use aadhaar Bar code instead of fingerprint We can easily give benefit to those who have aadhaar and cannot access through fingerprint.
Nikhil Dev ,sir your absolutely making out words of poor...who are struggling, even today the mistakes made by entry operator regarding DOB of cardholder...the cardholder catching roads sweating to get it corrected...
Classical example of debate between greatest happiness of greatest number( Jeremy Bentham) Vs human dignity ( Immanuel Kant) ... Thanks rstv for an enlightening discussion...
I think if biometrics not working, person should be allowed the to avail the benefits by producing hard copy of aadhar card along with some other document like election id or pan card,so as to verify the identity of a person. Its a simple solution where internet connection is not working as well. No one should be denied his right to life as rightly pointed out by Mr.Nikhil Dey, because of some operational issues in the scheme of Aadhar. Nice debate. Tnx rs tv.
Overemphasis on the 'welfare' aspect of Aadhar, other imp issues like data privacy, national security, money bill ,commercial aspect etc. should have been discussed more!!
All the panelists put their views very well. Intentions behind the Adhaar are commendable and till now it had worked very well if benefits of masses are considered. But there are many implementation procedures which need to be worked out smartly so that no one suffered because of technical issues and lack of services. Constitutionality of Aadhar as a money bill will remain in question. On summing up the discussion it can be said that smarter solutions should be there to fill the lacunae in the implementing procedures. Data & privacy protection laws should be strengthen. There should be a golden path to overcome the reservations of people and government which can be achieved only by constructive discussions and better implementation.
Yes it is true that the ground level implementation has to be addressed carefully. But I do not understand how data will be protected from the private firms. As you all know most of the technologies used by government flagship programmes like banking, passport services, railways etc., are under the control of private firms like TCS,Infosys etc.,
J sai deepak inspires me to become a lawyer.

What a great debate. Wish many more people see such debates instead of TRP driven biased and communal debates.
So true. These shows somehow need that level of publicity
Nitika Sharma yes but somehow people are more attracted towards fight and hate instead of sense and logic.

Even my mother old age pension was stopped because of lack of aadhaar by IRDA order. Faced aadhaar problems first hand myself.

Classical example of debate between greatest happiness of greatest number( Jeremy Bentham) Vs human dignity ( Immanuel Kant) ... Thanks rstv for an enlightening discussion...
Exactly..categoricalism vs consequentialism.one of the biggest examples I guess has to be aadhar.
