- As you might rememeber, Imperator Rome was actually one of my best performing non EU4 series, this is why we are gonna try playing as Athens that start in an impossible opening situation.

Very sad that paradox is no longer developing this game. Hopefully the community will continue to support it
??? As far as I understand they're currently working on giving IR its own team (Which is why nothing was announced at PDXCON) rather than having the PDS team work on it.
Here's the text:
You might have noticed that Imperator: Rome isn’t assigned to any of the studios mentioned above. The reason for this is that on a regular basis we analyze the projects we have in development, where they are at, what they are trying to do and also what people and resources we have working on them. As part of this analysis we realized that there was a need to bring reinforcement for a couple of the projects at PDS, and given where Imperator was at in the run up to 2.0’s launch, we decided that after the launch of the update we would move people from Imperator to these other projects. Right now we’re working on plans to regrow the team for Imperator and continue development, but for the short term we needed to focus our efforts on these other projects.
I wanted to break the news now to manage everyone’s expectations: don’t expect much Imperator news at PDXCON, or any new content coming out in 2021. We’ll of course get back to everyone with news about it as long as we have something to share!
@@oscartouw they stopped development for now, but plan to resume it
@@gorgoramsi239 knowing how paradox is they will only resume the development when the game starts to give money again and i dont think this is going to happen any time soon...
I actually prefer PDX turning his back on the game and leaving it to the community. Check Invictus mod for example
@@alexgm8970 I would prefer if paradox worked on it as well, the invictus mod is interesting, but I disagree with many of the changes they made
There are technologies that reduce aggressive expansion. I think they're under Civil Technologies? If you plan on blobbing hard, I recommend investing in those.
Also there was a tech that unlocks a law for religious/ cultural conversion. If I recall correctly it was left branch under religious just a little further from the temple. Very very useful for converting your entire country.
Higher the tyrranny to insane levels through subscribing a hated family and always choose the imprison choice when annexing peace treaty.
So happy to see Imperator:Rome again !!
Three quick tips, Hire mercs BEFORE war so they can build up their morale, assaulting level 1 forts with 4,000 troops or so works quite well, its much safer than in EUIV (Don't do it with big armys, the casualties are based on the size of the army, so the army should be big enough to win the assault, but as small as possible). Only integrate large cultures, like Macedonian because its better to convert to your primary culture over time and the more integrated cultures you have the more unhappy those cultures get. So integrating a culture which gives you like 40 people is bad, but a culture which gives you over a hundred is worth it early on.
As a heads-up, I recommend against light infantry in almost every situation. They are weaker to all other military formations. They are only good for filling up numbers (for example, to meet the minimum army population requirement for sieges). Recruit anything else if you have the money for it.
Waiting to eb able to make own legions :p
Most cultures get light infantry in their levy
really refreshong to see some imperator in the channel, loved it zlewikk
The one nation I really like to play in Imperator: Rome is Armenia. It's one of the only nations that can go toe-to-toe with the successor states. It can also expand far into the north as well!
armenia is the best country to restore persia as well lmao
I prefer Iberia, because it offers a harder start, and the research is more balanced
After the changes, Imperator Rome is now a very playable game. I am currently playing a campaign with my friends. Hope you are enjoying the game :)
Keep in mind that you can't get money from a peace deal in Imperator: Rome!
Time for an Imperator Rome Multiplayer
isnt it like super unstable?
@@ZlewikkTV I have no idea but eu4 mp is unstable so I think it's worth a try
@@ZlewikkTV the multiplayer was fixed a while ago there are just a few specific things you need to do (auto saves to never for everyone playing is very important) but it’s actually very stable, unless you run mods
If you stack build cost innovation it proves to be a good.
The jump cuts make the entire thing much more interesting!
Imperator is interesting as it seems to be a mix of eu4 and stellaris game mechanics
I just finish my Athens campaign yesterday lmao, still gonna watch it
hahahah
Oh my God, Imperator! I love it😍
Instead of prisoning or killing your enemies, there are a bunch of ways to bribe them, grand stipendis or grant him better offices. Their loyality will increase. you can always try to make friends with them too
I know, but Athenian mission tree requires you to imprison certain character
Thx for playing this game
Such an underrated game. I'm happy to see it's not dead yet. Anyways, looking forward to this series!
Zlewikk Imperator is always very nice!
Wooooooaaaaahhhh!!!! Finally other paradox game!!!! And ITS IMPERATOR ROME! ❤️❤️😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
All right, so thoughts about a one-territory non-Hellenic play through?
It's quite a challenge; there are only about ten or so in the entire game!
probably too much for me :p
@@ZlewikkTV I'm sure you could figure it out! Oxybia has the same culture as Rome!
Seems a bit extreme, it’s only the second campaign
I love imperator Rome sooo much❤️
more imperator content please ❤
Imperator: Rome?! Now that's a surprise.
Why? I enjoyed the Sparta series :p
@@ZlewikkTV Oh, I didn't mean a bad surprise. It's just that nearly all your content is EUIV.
@ I didnt ubderstand it this way. Thanks for the comment!
Love this content
I hope you keep on doing more imperator.
I hope that people were watching it :(
@@ZlewikkTV yeah it sucks how shitty paradox handled this game. I just booted imperator up from a while and my eyes started to hurt while i was playing Macedonia and figuring out which were enemies or independent states lol
Need more Imperator Rome vids... especially now that there is a beta patch.
i really appreciate you playing imperator again
Appreciate the comment
You need to try the Invictus MOD!
For the trade empire a very easy source of income is in the civic tree to the far left, you can get 3 capital import routs for ~5 innovations
The loyalty of the generals isn’t that important until you get the legions, I recommend the corruption idea as it can save you a lot of money
To get bigger levy’s get more freemen, citizens also add to the levy but not as much.
Nobles are important for the trade and research, get as many as possible.
Granary is usually useless, I recommend library’s for places where you want a lot of nobles/citizens, training fields for the freemen, and in places with lots of slaves get foundries and forges.
Don’t forget that you can also downgrade a culture to slavery only, when you have lots of AE this can help the province loyalty (because slaves make almost 0 unrest)
In the government check the statesmanship of your characters, they change how well they can do their job. (0% statesmanship = 0 stats, 100% = all stats of the character’s stats)
If you want to convert people to your accepted culture you should get the gradual economic integration tech in the oratory tree, this unlocks the theater which converts your pops very quickly
Sorry for the essay of tips :p
I really love this game, I put like
120 hours into it in the span of 2 weeks a couple of months ago...
totally worth it!
This game is black magic for me, as same as sparta campaign I'm watching this only for borders and your comment.
It's easier than it seems!
Maybe if I played it myself I would understand it.
@@mieszkochojnacki the ui is confusing and with all my hours in the game I still have no idea how republic’s work, but many mechanics are fairly simple and surprisingly easy to learn (like the tech tree)
Yes Zlewikk!!! thank you for the imperator rome content. try playing the invictus mod pack
7:52 9:00 9:07 "cyyyk" XD
Remember to beeline for enemy cities while you are in wars of any kind, especially if they are un-financed! It is a very good source of money!
Check in on any character you want to keep around, they don’t seek treatment very well when they get sick.
heyhey, just a few tips.
-you should probably give away the island in Rhodope, it's not very worth it to battle against thrace unless you have enough allies
-i reccomend you to download the invictus mod, it makes the gameplay waaay funnier
-don't integrate cultures with small number of pops, it's not worth it and it makes happiness of your primary culture pops way too low
-research grand theater and temple in oratory and religious technology because it gives you so much boosts. Also build aqueducts and foundry.
Happy gameplay my dude!
Hopefully it's not too late to suggest but choosing your own personal schemes is very powerful, I am almost always on the 20% influence at the cost of popularity which is basically nothing in a Republic but siphoning funds can also be important to bride people
Also when you conquer land I always try to get the governor to convert if needed and then assimilate
yeah, I'm always setting up governors to convert culture. How can I set up personal scheme?
@@ZlewikkTV you just have to right click your ruler portrait and you will a few options under the name scheme: "option here" the best ones are the one for the bonus influence, seeking a cure if you are a ruler for life and if you have prisoners selling them to slavery is also really good
you can get prisoners when you conquer someone and select the third option on what to do with the conquered families
More!
The start is 20 years after the death of Alexander the Great and the splitting of all of his Satraps into separate nations.
of course, did I say otherwise?
@@ZlewikkTV I like your videos. Not trying catch you out. You pointed out in videos, it was just after Alexander the great death. I listen to the video, do not watch, when I am doing work. Much respect, what you do.
@@ukr3ap3r27 20 years is just after in my mind, especially from Athenian history point of view :p
@@ZlewikkTV true, Sorry for comment. I do like your videos. I will remove comment if needed.
@@ukr3ap3r27 dont be sorry, I love every comment engagement!
Historically Athens tried to break away from Macedonia once Alexander died.. it didnt go well.
mercenary morale starts at 0 when you recruit them
Yep :p
it's sad that they're discontinuing this game
at least it's in a good state
i pray that they'll pick this game back up
It's sad to see Imperator not getting the attention it deserves, I think it has the potential to become one of the most enjoyable PDX games especially after the last update.
Interesting campaign btw! Would love to see a peak Roman Empire speedrun in the future :)
yeah, I really enjoy the game in this state
if you wanna play imperator rome, i cant recommend the invictus mod enough, it adds many things
hahahah, thanks!
1) take civic tech instead of oratory one. Because bonus of complimentarity of national ideas for Athenes is Trash. So oratory ideas are. Taxes are more important. If you reach 12 tech, you can pick a national idea, which gives 1 trade root to EVERY province.
2) after military annexing any country you get an event, which let's you decide the fate of previous elits. If you imprison them, you will get 10-30 characters, and you can sell them into slavery getting 6-15 drachmas for EACH slave.
3) You can import 2 dates from Egypt to your capital at the beggining of the game, which will increase all trade in your country by 10%..
4)You can get lot more of import trade routes in capital, if you will fill every building slot in your cities by academies (3 for city) and markets ( for the rest of slots). After that you will need to fill every city in capital province with slaves.
5) Please, destroy every useless buildings in Athenes: training place, tax building and even frecking GRANARY XD. ( played over 1500 hours this game, never needed this building). We need only 1 fort, 1 port and the rest is for the academies and marketplaces.(mb even aqueduck, if you want to make Metropoly) Destroying any building gives 20% of it's building cost, so feel free do destroy every buildings in your cities, but libraries, academies and marketplaces. ( Can explain any mechanic in this game if you ask) :3
Trying to revive a lost classic, ey, Zley?
More mr zlewikk
:3
I think there should be as many provinces in EU4 Europe, as there are in Imperator Rome.
yeaaah, for sure there wouldnt be massive laggs :p
Hey Zlewikk, i am offering you a challenge; can you be an Anglophile or Reformed Ottoman with American Culture in the Ironman mode.
Goddamit i love Imperator Rome Too bad it got shelved by Paradox :(
Even if it got shelved, it got shelved in a good condition!
Zlewikk, I suggest the Imperator Invictus mod! Paradox stopped developing I:R, so the mod community is creating an unofficial continuation of the game. Very cool.
Hmmm. Which EU4 mod is this?
I believe there is a technology that gives you the ability to get legions. They will always be superior to levies. Legions are standing professional armies, while levies are basically peasants with sharp sticks.
Yes yes, I'm aware from my Sparta run, still too early for that anyway :D
Zlewik what do you think about Mount and Blade 2. I Think that your gameplay would be very entertaining ^^
I played in on YT when it premiered :p
Please continue the campaign
Oh wow, what made you return to Imperator Rome?
I always liked it :p
Szczerze, wole EU4, ale i tak chętnie obejrzę. Rozumiem ze może Ci się znudzić, może spróbujesz EU4 na modach?
on nienudzenia sie jest mp :p
when you recruit mercs they are at 0 morale
Yep :p
Do you think Athens is impossible? play Byblos next you will have fun reforming Phoenicia
well, it's impossible for my I:R standards :p
I chelenge you tu form galetia in imperator
Imperator rome Or ck3 which is better?
they are quite different, personally I prefer I:R
@@ZlewikkTV I will try pretty soon, try uploading ir videos frequently.
Ck2 then Imperator
I have a problem, I have loss interest in eu4 but I still want to play it, I never find something fun. I used to love Castile but now I dont know what to do, are there any other nations or games to play? I also watch guides, should I?
Try one of the nations that got flavor in last dlc, like Majapahit
Isn't there any aggresive expansion in Imperator?
There is, but less harsh
@@ZlewikkTV AE affects pop happiness, and growth, so it’s actually quite bad if you have too much of it as your stability, pop output, and province loyalty will crash if it’s too high for too long. This can be avoided for a time with tech
ZLEWICK mercs spawn with low moral that's why you lost so many men
Yep, I'm aware ETIANNE :p
Hello
is this mp
No it is SP
iuti
I think people like the Imperator vids because no one actually wants to play the game themselves lol
Please do more eu4 contenents. No one wants imparator rome since pdx developers announcment
:(
I want Imperator tho :(
Hey, imperator is not so bad
x
Dont talk for everyone, Imperator is fun
