Been arm wrestling in japan for the last 2 years and I gotta say it’s hard telling just how strong people are here until you grip up with them. Yeah two different focuses that collide: Todd: "I want to be the best arm wrestler I can be". Devon: "I want to be the best arm wrestler that there can be". its "I'm just going to keep going higher and higher while looking up" vs "I'm looking up to see the maximum point because I'm not stopping until that spot". Kinda two sides of the same coin.
I think RVJ is right on, it's very case sensitive when it comes to size. Though generally majority of the time a bigger elite guy will beat a smaller elite guy. Those 1% of smaller guys that are able to beat giant elite guys are very special, unique and gifted. 3 examples are genetic mutation(Oleg Zhokh), special style(Crazy George), or just unrealistic speed(Talgat Aktaev).
Júlio Salotti Devon has won with it twice so far against people that outmatch him in power, like Todd Hutchings and Chafee. The Monster bled Devon out the last time with the KM and there is no reason to not believe Devon is going to match fire with fire
@@bacon9151 That's exactly why I think he won't use it. If you watch the match when he won against Todd, you can see he got OVER the KM and pulled him down with a weird angle. But I don't think he'll do that now... But I also don't think he will use the King's Move, since Michael has more experience with it. But I'm excited to see what happens
Todd has a natural lock on his arm which makes the king's move perfect for him. Devon is good with the king's move and has its uses but brings much more to the table these days. Also that weight gain has increased his strength a decent amount but I would imagine he would loose a km contest with Todd
@Julio Salotti @ John Jackson Look at the match with Chafee, that’s all I’m saying. We literally saw a double kings move used by both competitors to avoid a pin. Definitely plausible that can happen again,

Muscle size does matter, but it goes at a cost, your hart needs to pump way more blood to feed those muscles some oxygen for some endurence.....it makes you think right?!
6:10 Adam Engin Terzi'nin elinin ne kadar güçlü olduğundan bahsediyor ve kendisi hakkında hayranlıkla konuştuklarından bahsediyor. Ve Devon kendisinin bir istisna olduğunu söylüyor. Respect for Terzi!
Great video. 100% agree with Devon on nearly every topic. Its the frame and Devon has the perfect frame for arm wrestling. You could see that when he was 220lbs. Super lean low body fat with plenty of room to grow with a 6'5 frame. Someone like Bresnan is soft and only going to get softer as he gets bigger. Middle weight guys should be athletic genetically its easy to be that way. On the point of technique the heavyweight and open divisions require high technique as a must because only a small % of the population are that size. A sloppy technical heavyweight puller is going to get found out in 5 minutes.
I think size really does matter. Especially with the really big guys, because arent just big...but are super strong and muscular, irregardless of whether its on or off the table. Like Levan....has a monstrous bench, huge bicep curl, super strong shoulders, probably the strongest side pressure out there. Like a brick wall. Thats why i think strength, more than anything, is probably the most important...at least once you reach that too level. It seems like the strongest guys usually wins...at the very top level, though. It doesnt seem to matter so much with the heavyweight and lightweight guys, because they are all pretty strong for their size and technically great, but they can move more, are usually faster....so they are likely to be more technical, and leverage matters a little bit more. But....a really interesting topic.
Kings move should have really been named "Jesters Move", tbh. Interesting discussion around size. Very true, skill/ability can only get you so far with pumping against a higher class. Hence, reasons I may have been "stronger" technically than a friend, but being a lot heavier was able to throw me easier. Can't always fight mass.
No, that's not physics. That's correlation. Physics would be having the advantage from your arms getting longer creating angular and geometric differences.
@@TTime685 you stated more mass equals more strength. This is never the case for muscle tissue. Example. Body builders being weaker than power lifters.
@@WattWerxPEV Lol Pro body builders and power lifters are both huge strong men becuase of sheer muscle mass... Not because of some "special type" of muscle.. There's plenty body builders that compete in Strong Man competitions... Larry Wheels for example. You can't argue with physics bud.
Talent pool size does matter. At the elite level, everyone has a genetic gift whether you can see it or not. If there are 2 people in your weight class, you have a better chance of being the best than if there are 4 people. It's not just about hard work at this level, it's about what your genetics can do with that work.
Devon Larratt made this Sport so big hes like Mcgregor of Armwrestling he made it to what it is he made it Mainstream! And then alot of Surgerys and other Stuff Age aswell mabey kept him back but i mean 6x Hammer Holder beat that its easy to do Things only 1 Time to be perfect once but doing it Year after Year Time and Time again we will see if those People have it in them!! There is a long Way to go to beat Devons Record!
He's clearly been on the gear, it's not just the swollen face that gives it away but also the reddening. When you juice the blood pressure goes up massively.
Bob Houghton Not arguing he isn’t natty here but putting on a lot of muscle is hard at any age. Not a huge difference in your 40’s compared to your 20’s and 30’s. 40’s you’ll notice longer recovery and nagging joint issues being the biggest impeding factor not the slight decline in testosterone but you can still build/maintain good muscle and strength well into your 40’s. Of course individual genetics will vary results. 50’s and older is where the decline truly begins.

@@snap-off5383 No limits, that name fits
I think RVJ is right on, it's very case sensitive when it comes to size. Though generally majority of the time a bigger elite guy will beat a smaller elite guy. Those 1% of smaller guys that are able to beat giant elite guys are very special, unique and gifted. 3 examples are genetic mutation(Oleg Zhokh), special style(Crazy George), or just unrealistic speed(Talgat Aktaev).

Can’t wait to see who’s king move is better now. Todd’s or Devon’s.
I don't think Devon will win with KM. I think he has some new strategy
@Julio Salotti @ John Jackson
Look at the match with Chafee, that’s all I’m saying. We literally saw a double kings move used by both competitors to avoid a pin. Definitely plausible that can happen again,
Rob looks so happy to be there

That dude could potentially become huuuuge.
"Does technical prowess diminish as you go up in the weight classes?"
(instant) "Yes."
Michael Todd felt that
12:00 devon's arm 😍
Imagine how big it would be if he worked on his triceps. His biceps is absolutely humongous..
watching the shift in conversation away from complete impossibility and to nuanced takes was nice actually
Why dont u guys just release the full interview. This same interview was uploaded 3 weeks ago and one almost 5 weeks ago. I know u need content, but...come on lol
Animated Ant Ye they sit down and record an hours worth of content and hen break it up and release it week by week that way to extend their content and garner more views off of different videos = kaching! More money baby. WAL is nothing but a cashcow circus. There is 0 integrity and prestige.
I'm guessing it's also because it's out of season for them so they have to keep people interested until it picks up again
Muscle size does matter, but it goes at a cost, your hart needs to pump way more blood to feed those muscles some oxygen for some endurence.....it makes you think right?!
Why is jokester Todd even a part of this panel, his method of table hiding has nothing to do with arm wrestling
The more creative "under the table" jokes are funny but he is not the only one to use it, its legal, get over it 😁
6:10 Adam Engin Terzi'nin elinin ne kadar güçlü olduğundan bahsediyor ve kendisi hakkında hayranlıkla konuştuklarından bahsediyor. Ve Devon kendisinin bir istisna olduğunu söylüyor. Respect for Terzi!
When Devon speaks, I JUST want to listen! Just like my grandpa!
Sounds like they are preparing to kick Rob out of the category :D, same as Todd Hutchings
Gabriel C rob isn’t in the heavies..
@@thearmwrestlingmemechannel1434 he will be. this is what they are suggesting, maybe in 2021 or 2020 even
I think size really does matter.
When RVJ claims to have beaten some heavyweights. Where is the footage. Dreams dont count. And winning a round our of 5 rounds also does not count.
Do some research, buddy.
When your parents claim you are their son, where is the footage of you being born? Dreams don't count. Gotta go with a DNA test, am I right?
@@liusam2305 Haha, actually I have my birth video lol. I get what you are saying.
@@TheSid2355 So are you sure who your father is? You never know until you do the DNA test.

More muscle mass means more strength.. That's just physics
No, that's not physics. That's correlation. Physics would be having the advantage from your arms getting longer creating angular and geometric differences.
@@WattWerxPEV Yes.. Sheer mass being applied to anything is basic simple physics.. Newton's laws.
@@TTime685 you obviously dont know much about weight training. Stick to physics bill bye
I heard Todd was going on tour with the Dave Matthews Band in a few years for the 30th-anniversary tour of one of their greatest albums!
Does size matter lololol 😂😂
For a guy from Massachussets RVJ is quiet as hell here.
Talent pool size does matter. At the elite level, everyone has a genetic gift whether you can see it or not. If there are 2 people in your weight class, you have a better chance of being the best than if there are 4 people. It's not just about hard work at this level, it's about what your genetics can do with that work.
Yes you gotta have something going for you to make it to that level
Timmy Turner pssst... don’t tell anyone but I heard Ryan Bowen’s thing is ‘vectors’. Don’t tell anyone.
In a year or two RVJ will be replaced by Ryan Bowen
13:49 that didnt age well lol
Devon put on lots of muscle weight in his mid 40's.
Those steroids making his face all swoll too.
Agreed. He lost around 25lbs since this was shot. Check out his recent video.
your head naturally get wider or larger as you age.. but steriods can add to it too....
It's OK to take test when you grow older, I don;t see anything wrong with that
He's clearly been on the gear, it's not just the swollen face that gives it away but also the reddening. When you juice the blood pressure goes up massively.
Bob Houghton
Not arguing he isn’t natty here but putting on a lot of muscle is hard at any age.
They are arguing way more politely than professional politicians. Respect!
there's no table cause if there was michael todd would hide under it
One day I wanna go pro! I'm really good at arm wrestling, I've got the moves and strength... but nothing like these guys.
"Engaging topic" "OK LETS WRAP IT UP". Always way too short, you can see they had a lot more to say.
I agree but I'm amazed that this even happened
Agreed 100% 💯
I loved it, hope to see more videos like this in the future.
