Just ordered the same air filter. Right now my carb is apart for cleaning due to hesitation issues. Getting new pipes. Using your videos and IRIDETAS videos as inspiration
My gf owns one, this bike is super fun! Hard to walk reverse because the turn radius. I rode it 75 mph on the i84 and its so comfortable. Absolute perfect starter bike that you would have a hard time upgrading one day because you'll love it so much.
As a new rider *and I mean NEW*.. I needed to hear this! I bought a 1999 and we're working out a few bugs, nothing major, before I try doing anything more than rolling 5mph up and down my driveway. It feels good so far though. I like the fit and it really does sound sweet!
I have 5 bikes currently. Everything from sport, trail and dirt. I am looking at one of these for backroad commuting. I haven't had a cruiser yet, but I am looking forward to some comfort for high milage runs that i can still get some good efficiency out of. I will definitely be modding it. I like cheap bikes that you can really make your own. Great build, and those pipes sound amazing. 👍
Hi DJ, I recently bought a 2010 Yamaha v star xv250 6550 miles on speedometer thanks to you.😁 I absolutely love how easy it is to ride no effort needed. I still have 2010 Honda shadow vt750s which was my favourite until getting the Yamaha virago xv250. Also sold my 2006 Triumph rocket 3 because of surgery I recently underwent for esophageal cancer surgery and chemotherapy, it made it difficult for me to handle all that weight. I enjoy your RUclips videos. Stay safe buddy.😃
Awesome, I hope you are doing well. I lost a daughter due to cancer. It's hard to go through. I can only imagine how it feels. Good luck to you and blessing come your way.
@@rabidsquirrelgarage745 thank you kindly for taking time to reply. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I was diagnosed very late and given a year to live in July 2018 but somehow with the power of pray from family and friends God has given me second chance. I was able to have chemotherapy and surgery and more chemotherapy and during 2018 and March 2019 and so far in remission. Thank you sweet Jesus. In a way cancer has been blessing for me it's brought me closer God and made realise I need to cherish my life family and friends. Also please see youtube channel called biker bits by Mark Victor he's done build series on a 1998 Yamaha virago xv250.
Your bike is beautiful, nice work sir. My Virago 250 is a 2001 in stock form other than a sprocket change I did years ago. And a windshield. I went with 17/42 being in the hills in mid East Tennessee. Tires are 130/90-15 rear and 90/90-18 front. Mine runs out to 75mph in 4’th (if I ask it too) and runs out of steam in 5’th somewhere around 95 I’m guessing. It only shows 85 but the engine pulls until the needle is about 1” past the 85 mark. My pipes are factory.. and the reason I haven’t changed them is because the aftermarket pipes over scavenge with these small 250’s and you actually lose a bit of speed using them even when you re-jet the carb for the new pipes. I ride mine out of state and have been enjoying it for years.
I've always wanted a Virago ever since the early 80's. I'm short and the Virago fits me perfectly! Love the tires! I'd paint the bike red, though. Love the bike anyway! 😍
I have enjoyed your videos on this bike. I'm thinking of buying a motorcycle, and a 250 Yamaha is on of the bikes I'm considering. I have not ridden for quite a while but want to get back into it. A street bike will be more my speed. This video just told me the area you live in, east of Cincinnati. I. travel when I work and was just out there. Continue making the videos.
I got the same bike and it was my first bike, got it running and running pretty good! Mine is all stock minus some blinkers and straight pipes i put on it. I have that similar issue where the clutch is way out but ive adjusted it as far as i could and its barely good enough, i put new clutch discs in it and i have a brand new carb on the way aswell as a stage 1 jet kit to get her singing good. I dont ride it enought because i have newer faster bikes but i almost want to upgrade the sprokets but i can get to 80 just barely which i think is fine i jist use it to put around. Love your bike! They may not have alot of power or speed but man are they fun even for experienced riders lile us. Keep up the info amd videos!
That bike sounds and goes really good 👍 I just fitted a pair of them bar end mirrors. Genuine made in England one’s which was a lucky find. Lovely dog by the way
That really is a nice bike! Being an old Boomer, maybe a bike this size n style would be a far better ride for me (and everyone around me) than even an 883 Iron. I have always liked Yamaha. In fact, very few Harley riders speak Ill of Yamaha. Thanks, great video!

I know a lot of people will say why spend so much on a small bike but I think the build would be a blast and I'd have a one of a kind and that would make it worth every penny at least to me!
