Why do people think companion’s are useless? I go full dps and let Bastion heal and shield me. He points out heavy sacks and psjic portals. Mirri is great for treasure chest grind areas. Yes they have some annoying traits but overall I’d say they work great and don’t affect the major areas of the game much
Because they can only be used in overland content which is all way too easy. If there is anything in overland content you can't complete by yourself without needing a companion you are either newer, a very casual player, or need to practice. If you could take them into Maelstrom Arena or Vateshran Hollows that would completely change things but I don't need a companion healing me or tanking for me while stomping on a World Boss, it's easy enough without one.
I think content difficulty has little to do with it. It is about convenience and efficiency when you are talking about overland. Mirri makes you a lot more money when you are smashing chests in certain areas, Bastion picks out the heavy sacks in dark places for you and gives you potions which save you some money. I never account for them in any difficult fight but yes they do make those simpler when they aren’t killed.
Thanks for the video!!! As a filthy casual player I love the companions unless I am stealing lol They could be improved for sure and aside from your great point in this video I wish companions acted more like Skyrim. Carry extra inventory and could use the regular gear we farm or create. Oh well could be worse it could be a card game...dam it.....spoke too soon lol

I use only Bastion, or whatever it's called, for tanking. Dps or healing don't really work great. Why they running from me and even worst why they pulling adds from me?? Maybe I need try medium build so they stay close to enemies.. Must important things you mention is that new players need stop power leveling and play zone /main quest and learn how play game and basic mechanic like interrupt, block.. Companion gear is in 90% garbage, all my 5 guild banks are full of green and blue items, even with good trait and no one buying them in guild store. Purple items are another story but still don't worth that much gold and slow selling. Great video and great way to earn some gold as new player
"Shut up Bastion" 🤣🤣🤣 I say this every time he or Mirri speaks. I'd like to unlock them as a houseguest but Holy crap! I don't have the patience to deal with them😅
I find my companions usefully. Mirri is the kore pleasant for Ms. I've maxed both to get their passive abilities but still lie to have Mirri around. BTW, there's a good ad-on that you can switch on and off to stop accidentally clicking on them. Also, I think Mirri may be in love with me, just saying. 😬
I should have kept my companion gears, but I figgured with the amount of people complaining about them been in the game in the first place that ZOS won't add more. Will have to go grind the blue gears again, lol.
Will do. Thanks for the great suggestion. I got a website coming and some other plans in the works. I'll be reworking all the descriptions. Thanks again.
I feel like ESO needs more of this system where loot is what you get, no changing it. Want better? RnG and grind. It's the classic MMORPG system that creates value and reason.
@@ExplorationGamingESO It just makes the game more rewarding. ESO is turning too casual and I'm sure if they continue on this trend it'll be the death of ESO.
Strange this vid came up on my feed. Just this morning, PC NA, went to do some dolmens for the weekly "kill dangerous enemies" endeavor. Spent 20 minutes or so running dolmens. Purple aggressive jewelry dropped. Sold for 3.5 million on guild trader within an hour. So, that is of course a rarity, but this is actually a good farming method, thanks for the video. Certain Blue armor pieces can sell for 50k-100k+ each, and even off trait purple armor pieces can go for several hundred thousand. Now, to make things really interesting, when the new chapter drops with the two new companions, these prices should go even higher. BTW, newer players (or anyone else tempted to) NEVER pay these prices for Purple companion gear, it is objectively not worth it as a matter of fact and not opinion... unless you have tens of millions of gold and NOTHING else to spend it on. But the cliche' about fools and their money is true.
So glad to hear someone say this method worked!! It’s certainly worth a try if you’re doing dolmans. I also got the weekly endeavor prize while making this video. Someone was trolling me about the title, but you’ve proven me right! Thanks!
I played since release, have 10 alt's, and have never done that dolmen run haha. I already have all the gear for the two new companions. ZOS doing ZOS things, they want everything to take time to keep you in the game, so you cannot improve or transmute companion gear.
If you've never done that run...it's fun to join in for one go round on the weekend. Also it was by far the quickest way to do this week's endeavor for 220 seals. (kill dangerous foes). Thanks for watching.
Same here. I have never done the Alik'r dolmen "leveling". I remember when players would give people a hard time for leveling this way. After recently returning to the game I was surprised to see so many new players in the 300cp range have missed out on a lit of cool content. I get it though, questing can be mind numbing and boring.
You need to have access to the Blackwood Chapter. Bastian Hallix can be found south of Deepscorn Hollow along the southwest coast of Blackwood...Mirri Elendis can be found north of Doomvault Vulpinaz in northern Blackwood. Once their quests are completed, you will receive their respective Companion collectibles.
Companions right now are kind of trash gear wise. The fact you can't upgrade, craft or do anything to try and improve it but try and do bosses over and over and over for a 1% chance of a drop is ridiculous for something which in anything outside of solo is useless.
Except the gold you get from selling the gear that drops is anything BUT useless. My point is if you’re grinding a character it’s a way to possibly have a windfall.
Shut up bastion... Earned a like and Sub from me... the amount of times I've told them to shut up sub Conciously is probably unhealthy... finally finished max rapport on them both Saturday gone... I WAS going to put them away forever... but maybe I'll tell them to shut up some more after seeing this video 👍
True, but I think there is some benefit in groups being able to share a boss kill. The final boss in the dolmens goes down so quick you have to be fast to get the chance to loot him.
@@ExplorationGamingESO From my experience and I might be totally wrong it doesn't matter if you do the majority of the damage or simply get one aoe strike off you get the same exp and loot from the fight.
@@Ramladon not with bosses. I also believe there's a mechanic where only the first 50 people get loot. I've been in other event boss fights where I was given credit, or exp. for the kill but zero loot.

My feeling as well. Bastian is a decent enough tank at times. The chance for purple companion gear is too much of a temptation for me not to use them.

I'll go one better... Why can't we have a separate bank strictly for companions. Okay, TWO better, a slot for companions in the armory...
