My grandma made me go see Jessie Duplantis in fl where you had to pay for your dinner while he gave a speech about giving. He made me ill. I grew up in the charismatic mess and I didn't get saved until 2015. I'm 55 and I got tired of trying on my own. I spent my entire life running away from God because I never felt I could be good enough.

Also have to say your Clouds Without Water series is excellent and I got the John MacArthur's Study Bible and haven't been able to put it down. A little exaggeration, but it was you Justin who also suggested to the listeners to get one. I was glad to hear what you had to say, because I didn't know who to trust. I hope you know how much our Lord is using your ministry to help other lost and deceived people find the truth in the Word.

Just gets my hackles right up. In saying that "we're born good", logically-speakig, Jesse is implying that we have no need to be saved by Christ. Jesse, if he ever had one, turned his back on his Christian upbringing probably a long time ago.
Duplantis is being taken way out of context. His point was that Jesus recognized Zacchaeus' good potential, which every human certainly has!
If we don't inherit a sin nature, we commit egregious wrong by having children and having them corrupted with sin.

And evetime they were asking for money for a new jet I gave it to them because I was struggling financially so they would tell us God will deliver you from poverty when you give

It’s interesting that he talked of Zacchaeus since after his conversion, he vowed to pay back everyone one he wronged 4 times the amount he charged them.
Growing up Catholic I never new I was born a sinner. But now I know better.
I like to look at it this way. Just as the physical characteristics that are part of our humanness are passed down through physical genes to all, the sin nature was passed down through spiritual genes to all.

@@TilleyDuthie This subject is truly one of those troubling things we have to work through and seek the Lord on. This is how it worked out for me. The Bible clearly teaches all are born in sin as the above mentioned Ps 51, and the Roman references from Justin's message, plus others. I became so grieved some time ago when I became closely involved with the plight of severely mentally handicapped orphans in Ukraine and Russia. Somewhere I heard some teaching that they, the unborn and infants were just as separated from God as much as any human being and the possibility of some would go to hell unless they were among the elect. I understood the Lord as Sovereign and this as being true for all humans yet I could hardly stand it that it would include them! I sought the Lord to help me accept this in faith and to trust in His Sovereignty. Then I listened to either a sermon or maybe a Q&A by John MacArthur and he believes all children who are still born, aborted or die before they can make a rational decision, and that includes those born severely mentally handicapped, are covered by our Savior's life, death and resurrection. Actually I can't remember all the scriptures he brings forth so that may not be exactly how he said it, but I do remember he brought out when David's first child with Bathsheba died, David said "I will go to him, but he shall not return to me." MacArthur used the Bible to clearly show scripture interpreting scripture alone, and it gave me knowledge and confidence to believe it. There are some who don't agree, but I do know that when we ask for wisdom the Lord will be pleased to give it to us. His Word will reveal what He wants man to know of Him. While things are still yet to be revealed, still we believe God is Sovereign and does what ever He pleases. He is good, He is Holy, He is righteous and just, loving and kind, and there is no evil in Him. If you would like to pursue John MacArthur's teaching, I suggest you call the number on their website gracetoyou.org and I bet someone will help you find it. Hope this helps :)
