I actually never knew there was a second brain in the Brinstar Depths stage until now. Very interesting.

I think the brains and the pulsating heart thing are just creepy set pieces made to give the stage more flavor. A 100% faithful recreation of Brinstar would have been lacking in detail, so they just made stuff up.
You are probably right... it just seems weird to have a giant brain in the background.

I just refuse to believe that this isn't part of some brain species on Brinstar, like what if big ol brains just come from Brinstar and mother brain is a part of this species?
That's a pretty good theory actually. I just can't remember a time when we would have seen something like that outside of Smash Bros.
@@KumaPlays it's so weird to think that it's basically completely ignored too, and from what we've seen in Metroid: Dread with the little blue brain mini bosses it really makes sense that there's a species of brains in the Metroid universe

Mother Brain is an AI created by the Chozo, not a member of a naturally-occurring species.
@@NixDolores well I know that but while it is a computer, it's still made up of organic material and tissue that had to come from somewhere. So mother brain isn't a direct descendant of a brain species but what if there still is a species of brain creatures that mother brain was inspired by?
