  • Textile shackles, also known as soft shackles or softies, are the stars of modern rigging. They are very light and sturdy and have replaced their stainless steel cousin to attach blocks, sheets, halyards and so on. However, there are many varieties on the market. Some of them are quite tricky to make and require some practise. That is why we present the simplified and easy version (that's why we call it "everyone's shackle"). You won't need to splice and thus the gear required will be limited. As such, this shackle is a really interesting solution seeing how easy it is to make !
After our textile shackle with a splice tutorial, we show you how to make a soft shackle in a really easy way (no splices), and very practical to use when sailing (front sails). To make this soft shackle, all you need is one metre of tight rope and a few rigging tools like a splicing fid and a hollow fid, amarker pen, a lighter and a tape measure.
    Your go!
