It's called 'Technology' and continuous development - something that American trucks are yet to catch on to.

Nissan cabstar and others has the same system. It's good for cities, malfunctions are also very common and expensive.

so how does this work on a wet slippy hill then when the right torque is achieved so you set off but wheels start to spin what driver aids kick in then?? Ill stick to using my clutch & skills thanks

nice feature but trucks have had it for years. its called "trailer brakes", simple tug of the spike and up the hill you go with no rollback. has worked for me for 30yrs it can work for you

that is a standard feature of all ESP systems on cars for some years now.
even my 2008 Fiat Bravo has it.
i would expect it to be incorporated in trucks much faster tbh

Yes, but you do it with the clutch... and there's no clutch anymore on an automated TipMatic shift system. That's why they have to do a system like that.

It save the driver having to throw a block at the wheel for a hill start.

Or you could just fully press the brake pedal and release it, that will keep the brakes engaged for a second or so for you to move to the gas.

Even experienced drivers can roll back. Nobody is perfect all of the time. There is fatigue, distraction, a slippery foot, and also age. Everyone rolls back sometimes.

Description: "...MAN EasyStart which means setting off on gradients is much easier and therefore safer."
Why make it harder than it has to be, when we CAN make it easy? ... out here in the future.

I'm Canadian and yes I drove big truck for years now . I m sorry to say this to my fellow drivers . But yes this technology is neat but honestly as a driver that rolls all across Canada USA I have no use for these types of trucks. I saw how a fellow on here said that American trucks have no technology. Well I hope that the North American trucks don't turn anything into these euro wanna be big trucks. I mean no offence just not for me!
I love my tractors with chrome chicken lights that are large cars with big power with a clutch and 13/18 speed that I operate and can feel how the truck is running and acting like.
I can't stand the DEF technology legislated in canada and USA 2010 newer trucks. That technology might be ok in warm climate Europe but it's garbage here in Canada and northern USA , where we get very cold and snowy.

I get what you are saying, but these days there is nothing really like an America or Euro truck. The differences are only cosmetic and purely for sentimental reasons and geographical specific preferences. Truck manufacturers share technology and are owned by similar global truck manufacturers. For example, your good old. current American Mack is no different from an equivalent Euro Volvo truck.
