Some people say that it is C-type thermocouple (C and D have quite similar characteristics) but it might also be some nonstandard thermocouple. The heater element is nominally 12V, 40W but according to my measurements it needs only about 9-10 volts to reach 40W power.

Interesting but does it have any advantage over the welle rWMRS with the magnetic stand?
The only advantage is that you can build it yourself :) See also my newer video which shows the final version of my Weller station.
